R&R

What's up my Fuugen lovers? I am sorry for making you wait so long but here is the next one shot! It's short, but don't worry! I will be posting two today! Happy? Excited?

((A/N: To answer those of you who have asked me to do a JinxFuu series of one shots I am sorry to say that I will not be doing that. Not that I have anything against the ship, it's just that I don't know how to write JinxFuu. Like I literally just can't write anything substantial with them being lovey dovey together, i'm sorry.))

ENJOY!

Oneshot 33: Cut

by AshAnime

He hadn't meant to do it. It just sort of happened.

When it came to fighting and bloodlust Mugen became an extension of his sword. Not in the 'let the sword be an extension of your arm' kind of way. More like a 'become as sharp as your blade' kind of way.

So when it happened, sure it had been the blade that cut into her flesh, but Mugen felt it all the same.

"Fuu!" Spit flew out of his mouth as he yelled her name, tossing his sword to the side and rushing forward before he could even contemplate the danger of throwing away his weapon. "Shit!"

"It's ok!" she yelled over the sound of metal clashing against metal. Jin might as well have been an entire army. "It's a shallow cut!"

But Mugen wasn't listening to her. All he could see was the copious amounts of blood leaving her fair skin. "We need to get you the fuck out of here!" he said, ignoring her protests. "I mean it! You aint staying here any longer!"

"But we can't just leave Jin!"

They both turned to see the skillful samurai facing off seven more men.

"This is nothing for four-eyes," Mugen stated matter of factually, never taking his eyes off of her crimson stained arm. "He'll meet us back at the inn. We're leaving!"

Her protests fell on deaf ears as Mugen maneuvered them out of the chaos and practically dragged her by her good arm. His back muscles were stiff and tense, the weight of what he did clearly baring down on him. How had he not seen her standing right there?

Not a single glance was spared towards the inn keeper as they stormed through the front doors and headed towards their room, Fuu struggling to keep up all the while.

"Mugen slow down!" she pleaded. Her arm stayed close to her side in order to staunch the wound, but it was only a matter of time before her entire kimono was soaked through.

Ignoring her protests, Mugen flung open their room door and hurried inside before slamming it shut. His hard grip on her arm loosened, eventually falling away, and Fuu tried to hide the sigh that came with the reprieve.

"Calm down. It's not that bad," she mumbled as the pirate paced back and forth in front of her, all the while glancing at her arm.

He snorted. "Tell that to the blood having a field day all over your kimono." Mugen stopped and suddenly began ripping at his gi. "Take this or you'll be wearing red instead of pink. I'm going to go find someone who knows what the fuck they're doing. Stay here."

Fuu tried to deny the piece of cloth he shoved into her grasp but failed miserably. "Mug-"

"I said stay here," he spat, and before she could even get another word out, he was gone.

"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""

So bandaging her up didn't take that long. And the healer said the same thing Fuu had been trying to say earlier. That the cut wasn't that deep.

But still…

Mugen felt like shit.

"All better!" Fuu cheered once the doctor had left and Jin had returned, inquiring about her injury. "Now I get to have a scar just like you guys! Cool, huh?"

"The healer did an excellent job," Jin said. "It doesn't seem like a scar will be forming from that."

Her face fell. "Oh well, too bad." Her small shoulders shrugged as she turned on her heels and began tackling the task of preparing food for the three of them. After she almost got her arm chopped off!

Mugen continued to sulk in the corner and refused to respond to the pointed looks Jin kept giving him. It wasn't until later that night, after Fuu had fallen asleep, that the four-eyed sword wielder decided to speak up.

"Talk to her."

"Huh?" Mugen broke his unwavering gaze at the moon and turned to give Jin a hard glare.

"Talk to her," Jin said again, sitting up in the mat next to Fuu's. "She just wants you to talk to her. Ignoring the problem-"

Mugen chuckled wryly. "I've got a solution to the problem alright. She stays far away from me and I stay far away from her."

Jin sighed. "That's ignoring the problem, Mugen."

The former pirate had nothing else to say.

""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""

And so he did stay far away from her, but Fuu being Fuu didn't seem to get the hint. No matter how many times Mugen tried to hide from her or ditch her all together, she still found him. Like a moth drawn to the flame.

Too fucking persistent.

"Mugen!"

He cursed under his breath as she spotted him in the crowd, pushing and snapping at people who wouldn't move out of the way.

"There you are! I've been looking all over for you!"

"Really? I hadn't noticed," he practically growled.

Fuu gave him a weird look before rolling her eyes. "Anyways… There's this place down the road giving away free dumplings as long as you buy a drink. I thought you might be interested so-"

"Nope."

She frowned. "Am I missing something here? Because you've been acting really strange ever since yesterday."

Mugen's hard brown eyes finally acknowledged her. "I don't think it's hard to miss my sword swinging at ya."

Fuu visibly deflated as her eyes softened. "You're still worried about that? I told you I'm fine Mugen. It was just a little scratch."

"A little scratch because I held back in time." He didn't know why he was even bothering to explain himself to her. He should have been leaving town instead of wasting time discussing something she didn't understand.

"So you're just going to ignore me forever?" she questioned, hands on her hips and feet rooted to the ground. Sometimes he admired that stubborn side of her, other times he found it annoying.

This was one of the annoying times.

"That's the plan," he sneered, skirting around her. "It won't be so hard once I'm out of here. Tell four-eyes I'll see him around some time."

A small hand grabbed his wrist. "You're leaving?! You can't leave!"

"Says who? Now let go of me, girly!"

"No!" Fuu insisted. "Mugen I don't care about the stupid cut. You made a split-second mistake. It was nothing."

"It isn't nothing."

"Mugen-"

"I could have killed you!"

Fuu's brows scrunched up as she looked at him. Slowly her grip on his wrist fell away until it felt like there was a mountain between them. "Don't be an idiot," she whispered.

"It's the truth," Mugen spat. "When I fight I don't think. I swing until whatever's on the other end of my sword's dead. I was slashin' and then all of a sudden you were there and I had one second to pull back."

"But you did, Mugen," Fuu muttered softly reaching for him once again as the pirate turned away from her. "You pulled back and I'm ok, so please, just stop beating yourself up about it, or I might actually start to think that you…"

"What?" Mugen grabbed her hands before they could move away from his arm. "Care about'cha?"

"Uh-Umm, maybe… I-I don't know," the samurai's daughter sputtered.

Mugen licked his lips and laughed, he could never get tired of watching Fuu embarrass herself. "Who knows what I feel for ya, girly," he said truthfully. "All I know is you're the only person I've never wanted to cut."

Fuu blushed.

Mugen sighed and looked around the crowd that didn't care about the two idiots arguing in the middle of the street. Most of them were heading towards the promise of free dumplings, and maybe he should join them. Being stubborn was something Fuu did best, not him. Things were much smoother when he went with the flow.

"Alright well I want some dumplings, you comin' or not?" he prattled on, lacing his fingers with Fuu's before she could even answer. Her heart fluttered in her chest as they pushed through the crowd in search of something they both had in common.

Eating lots of food.

"Do you think they'll give us as much as we want?" she asked him, loving the way the rough padding of his thumb smoothed over her soft knuckles.

Mugen snorted. "If I'm walking all the way over there, they fucking better."
