During the meeting Wilkins made the case for an alliance with the Watcher's council. Over time there had been a river of blood between them, but they shared common enemies. Holland and Wilkins were rivals within the circle, but they agreed about this. Magnus Bruce had part of what they needed, but he seemed reluctant. Some wondered if Magnus might actually be allied with the First. Could he be so arrogant enough to think he could profit from this disaster? After the meeting Bryce's daughter Virginia quietly approached Holland. They'd known each other since Virginia was little, Holland and Magnus were old friends. Virginia covertly slipped Holland a note. Her father was allied with the enemy. She was willing to give the circle what they needed, if she inherited this from Magnus. Holland understood.
