Chapter 393
Kate, Lindsay, and Eve stood on the edge. They were all frightened of the pirannas in the pool. But, in order to protect all life, one of them had to try to jump to the Chalice. Eve suggested they draw straws, until they realized they had none. Lindsay suggested they play odds and evens. But before they could Kate jumped across. The fear was bad enough without waiting around so she was the first to jump. She did not make it. Kate Lockley fell into the pool and dissapeared. It really hit Eve and Lindsay, the possibility of death. But they still needed the Chalice. Lindsay kissed Eve one last time. He told her that if he didn't make it, to just leave, and save herself. Eve watched in horror as Lindsay failed to make it. He was gone, and Eve couldn't even bury him. A part of Eve wanted to just jump in the pool and join Lindsay in death. But she couldn't do that to him. Lindsay gave his life to save the world, she would not let his sacrifice be in vain. Eve took a running jump and with all her might jumped towards the piece of the Chalice.
