Eve failed to reach the rock with Poseidon's piece of the Chalice. When she fell into the pool she knew death was inevitable. Resistance was futile, but by instinct she fought to get away. Before Eve realized it she swam back to the surface and crept back on land. Others were here, Lindsay, Kate, and Poseidon. Eve and Lindsay passionately kissed. Then it occurred to them, how exactly were they still alive? Poseidon told them. He would only give the Chalice to those who were worthy. Lindsay had feared death, yet he risked his life to save others. Eve had overcome both fear of death and her despair to jump. Kate overcame fear and guilt to retrieve the Chalice. Apparently the part about pirannas was made up. The trio didn't pretend to understand the specifics of how they ended up in a different location. Poseidon rewarded them with the small piece of the Chalice.
