OTDE: Into The Deep Chapter 5- A Choice
Hey guys I'm back! I'm sorry for the long wait but I've had a hectic schedule with school and everything so I haven't had the time to sit down and write a proper chapter. Hopefully you're still interested in the story and you haven't completely forgotten what's happened :p Here's a short recap: The Mews and Cyniclons are back on the Cyniclon planet, Deep Blue has found a new host and Ichigo is forcing Kisshu to choose between her and his Cyniclon fiancé Mikata.
Ichigo growled as she marched through the hallway, trying to find a way outside. The only door she knew of was through the dining room and there was no way she was walking through there while that vile girl was there.
The red head knew she was being unfair and that Mikata didn't do anything wrong, but she couldn't help feel a stirring of anger whenever she even thought about the Cyniclon. Ichigo growled again, this time in frustration at herself for not being able to find a way outside.
"Looking for something?" A voice she had become very familiar with in the past few days asked. She turned to find Lot, his blonde hair stylishly messy, approaching her from down the hall. She smiled, though she knew it looked as forced as it felt. The tips of her teeth had become pointed, a side effect of the Mew DNA that popped up when she was angry.
"I'd very much like to get out of here for a bit. Its feeling a bit crowded." She hissed, feeling the itch in her scalp that signaled her ears wanted to come out. Forcing the feeling down, she looked pleadingly at Lot, hoping he'd help her. His green eyes lit up and he nonchalantly took her hand.
"Follow me."
Ichigo knew she should pull away, but it had been so long since someone had held her hand, so long since someone had showed her any sign of affection that wasn't rushed and secretive. The contact felt different, it didn't hold the hot spark of Kish's touch, but that didn't mean it felt completely bad either.
They wove their way through the maze of hallways, Lot leading Ichigo and throwing cheesy jokes over his shoulder to make her giggle. He had just said something particularly funny, though Ichigo couldn't even remember what exactly she found so hilarious about because she was laughing so hard, when Lot stopped dead in his tracks. Ichigo grunted as she slammed into him.
"What's the hold up?" She joked, keeping her grip on his hand as she moved around him.
Kisshu stood in the middle of the hallway, his amber eyes darkening with jealousy. Ichigo moved to release Lot's hand, but in a stubborn act of defiance, decided to hold on.
"Good morning Kisshu." She said formally, her voice barely veiling her anger. Kisshu opened his mouth to say something, the tips of his fangs glinting dangerously in the over head light. Shaking his head furiously, he clamped his mouth shut and pushed past them. Instead of teleporting away, he noisily stomped down the entire length of the hallway until he was too far for them to hear.
"Sorry about that." Lot apologized, letting go of Ichigo's hand even though it was a bit late for that. Ichigo thought for a second before a devilish look filled her maroon eyes.
"Don't be." She hissed and reached down to entwine their fingers again.
A few minutes later, they arrived at a side door. It was fairly well hidden, obviously not supposed to be a main entrance. Lot pushed it open and Ichigo purred happily as she was greeted by fresh air. She stalked out into the grass, her bare feet relishing the soft feel of it on her skin. The cat in her unfurled its sleep paws and urged her to play. She "mrowed" in glee as a breeze ruffled her hair and raised goose bumps on her arms. Reaching over, she slapped Lot on the arm.
"Tag you're it!" She crowed and dashed off into the garden. Lot laughed loudly, taking off after her. Ichigo giggled as she swerved around plants, benches and pots, her muscles stretching deliciously with the exercise. Normally, she would've been out of breath by now, but it seemed that a good run was exactly what she needed after being cooped up in that house for days.
Lot leapt over a bench, landing in front of Ichigo. Repeating her earlier experience, she crashed into him, though this time it was his chest and not his back. Strong arms wrapped around her, keeping her from falling backwards, but they did nothing to stop her forward momentum. Lot tipped over, pulling them both to the ground. Ichigo landed on top of Lot, maroon eyes staring into jade ones.
Lot leaned up and pressed a kiss to her lips and Ichigo passed out.
Kisshu was pacing the dining room angrily, wondering what he was supposed to do. Obviously Ichigo was done waiting for him to take care of things, but that still left the question HOW to take care of things. Mikata was his best friend, and he knew that his retraction of the marriage offer would break her heart, but marrying Mikata would be worse. It would break Ichigo and it would break Kisshu. Knowing he would never break up to see those burgundy eyes or hear the laughter of small children, some with Cyniclon ears and some with cat ears when they got nervous, that would be the worst thing.
He couldn't live without Ichigo, that much he knew.
But how did he go about telling Mikata that he didn't love her, that he had never loved her? The green haired alien groaned, running a hand through his already messy hair. His heart started racing as his sensitive ears picked up the sound of small feet padding down the hallway. But even as he hoped, he could smell the overwhelming stench of flowers when he wanted the sweet, sweet smell of strawberries.
"Kish-y," she referred to the childhood nickname that he'd never been particularly fond of, "Is everything all right? You've been acting strange ever since you came back." Mikata, wrapped her arms around him and he turned to face her, his mouth open but not speaking. He wanted to tell her, he had to tell her.
"Mikata… I… well you see on Earth…" He started but the sound of pounding feet and rushed breathing reached his ear. A few seconds later Lot barged through the doorway, cradling something very limp and still in his arms.
Ichigo.
"KONEKO-CHAN!" Kisshu yelled, yanking himself away from Mikata and launching himself at Lot. "PUT HER DOWN! WHAT DID YOU DO TO HER?" His hands moved helplessly over her face, smoothing her red hair back and trying to figure out what was wrong as Lot lowered the unconscious Mew to the floor.
"Ichigo?" He said more quietly but just as urgent. "Ichigo can you hear me?" Kish pulled her into his lap, wrapping his arms around her. "DON'T JUST STAND THERE! GET MY MOTHER!" her screamed at Lot, whose face had turned a sickly pale as he watched the scene.
Kisshu held Ichigo closer, feeling the heat of her body that proved she was still alive. For now.
"I love you Koneko-chan." He whispered, pressing his lips to her forehead. "I love you and I'm so sorry."
A sharp intake of breath came from Mikata, but Kish didn't even look to her. All he cared about was his beautiful Ichigo.
He couldn't lose her.
