Chapter 406
Barshon had grown up believing in the Covenant as much as anyone. All races had their place, someone had to rule them. But seeing it's actions firsthand, the crushing of political dissidents, tolerating gambling, drinking, even prostitution merely to keep the peasants down. Barshon began losing faith in the current leaders like Silas. Barshon still believed in the ideals, these came from the agreement that ended a terrible war in Pylea. But this system needed to be amended, or it would not survive. A new agreement must be struck. Barshon still considered himself a follower of the Covenant ot Trombli, not even a reformer. He definitely wasn't arrogant enough to think of himself as a founding father, creating a new covenant. But for Pylea to survive there had to be a regime change. And for better or worse this meant negotiating with the infamous Groosalag.
