Chapter 423
On wednesday evening, April 17th,Quentin Travers looked at the entire situation. He realized that retrieving the entire Chalice would require cooperation with evil creatures. President Wilkins seemed to be trying to get all the Circle's pieces. Rumor was that Magnus Bryce had been murdere because he refused to surrender his piece. Adam had become their recent ally in Sunnydale. And Illyria herself had, only today, become a temporary ally. Such alliances were neccessary, if difficult. Dracula was also putting feelers about returning to Sunnydale with the Concillium Mortuum. He claimed that Kakistos acted without his knowledge or consent. Travers didn't neccessarily believehim, but might have to take him at his word. Dracula had given one piece of the Chalice to Faith, but still had another piece. He was using this other piece as leverage to return to Sunnydale. Faith had made no secret of her desire to kill Dracula. Because Faith was a rogue slayer Travers knew he couldn't control her, particularly from England. He might have to go back to the Hellmouth. As much as Travers hated those evil creatures he knew he had to play nice. If these creatures couldn't work together, all could be lost.
