Chapter 430
Ben didn't know the exact date he was born. But when he ws adopted he seemed roughly one year old. Mr and Mrs Wilkinson chose April 21st as Ben's first birthday because that was when the adoption became official. They wanted to celebrate the day Ben came into their lives. Although they were gone now Ben still ate a piece of birthday cake every April 21st. He was eating this cake when Buffy called him. Ben rushed right over. He examined Dawn, even gave her a blood transfusion with Buffy's blood. He'd seen this before. The vampires tried to turn Dawn. It was interrupted, but Lilith's blood was infecting Dawn right now. Ben began talking candidly to Buffy.

Ben: They tried to turn her, didn't they?
Buffy: I think so.
Ben: As near as I can tell one drank from Dawn to the point of death, then gave her some of it's blood.
Buffy: But I stopped her before it was complete.
Ben: I've talked to other doctor's about the vampire transformation. There's a theory that if you can give a blood transfusion in time, if there isn't too much vampire blood. Maybe your blood can fight the vampire transformation.
Buffy: So Dawn won't rise as a vampire.
Ben: I've only seen this two or three times, and I've never been able to give a transfusion.
Buffy: But it does work?
Ben: From what I've heard yes. But I've never seen it happen. There might be something else we can do. I've heard rumors of a vampire whose soul was restored.
Buffy: You mean Angel?
Ben: You're friend?
Buffy: Yeah, he's the one. But we've looked for that spell for Jessie. It's long gone.
Ben: Okay. I know someone, he's good with excorcisms. Helped me out with my own problems years ago. I'll talk to him.
