Chapter 431
Ben was the unnofficial medic for Buffy's team, but he didn't tell them about his past with Glory. Glory had been one of three gods ruling over a hell dimension. When she tried to overthrow the other two gods they defeated her. Glory was sentanced to live, and eventually die, in the body of a newborn male, created specifically for this. Ben was that baby. For twenty years Ben and Glory fought for control of this body. Sometimes Ben sometimes Glory in control. Ben tried to be good, a doctor, saving lives. But by living he knew Glory was killing others. Ben considered suicide, then he found Doc. Doc was an old man, part demon, a bit senile. Doc had performed an excorcism, destroyed Glory, gave Ben his life back. Ben felt he had no right to ask the Doc for anything more, but he wanted to save Dawn. She was an innocent, didn't deserve to lose her soul. If the blood transfusion didn't work, if Dawn became a vampire, maybe Doc could restore her soul. When Ben called the old man he admitted he'd heard rumors of a vampire with a soul, but he'd never seen it. He promised to research it. Ben also asked why so many Sunnydale residents were losing their minds. This seemed to confuse Doc, Glory was supposed to be dead. He promised to research this also.
