Note Eleven: How can I find…?

The Key was cold. His breathing was calm. Everything seemed alright. But it wasn't. A broken heart can't be seen that easily. Still, this was a different case. He was seated, his knees being support to his crossed arms. His eyes were closed. His face was giving a relaxed expression. But there was a frown contradicting that relaxed expression. He sighed. It looked he was calmer than before. He opened his eyes and looked up. His eyes were red and swollen for all the crying he did. It could be seen. The brokenness, the confusion, the pain, the sadness, the suffering. All those emotions could be seen in his mismatched eyes.

"Even though days have passed, I still feel the same pain…"

He looked at his surroundings. Golden gears everywhere received him.

"It is still a mystery for me… Why would Yuma betray me like that?" He sighed and hugged himself tightly. "I do not understand… Why Yuma did this…? I know he is hiding things from me... But, what could be so strong to make him do this?"

The cold breeze and the slow movements the gears made helped him relax.

"Maybe Yuma… Had a reason to do this, right? He must have a reason…" He really hoped there was a reason to everything that was happening.

Still, his 'logical' mind kept telling that there was no reason strong enough to make Yuma befriend Black Mist. Unless… Yuma was betraying him on purpose.

"No! I refuse to believe Yuma is betraying me, at least not on purpose. Yuma has a reason, I know it. I just need to know what that reason is…"

He wanted to understand, he wanted to know the truth. But how could he learn it if Yuma didn't wanted to talk?

"It is so confusing. Why Yuma does not want to tell me? What is exactly Yuma hiding from me? What is this 'promise' he made? Why would he make it in the first place?"

Something seemed strange in all this. For some reason, he felt there was something that not even Yuma knew; something that had to do with that promise. But what was it?

He looked up again. "Why does everything have to be so confusing? It would be easier if Yuma decided to tell me the truth..."He suddenly felt a bit angry. "But I guess he does not want to spend more time with me. After all, he has 'Akira', who resulted being worse than I first thought."

He gasped. What was he thinking?! Why did he think that? He didn't really felt like that. He knew Yuma was just as confused as him.

"I do not understand. Why am I so suddenly angry at Yuma? I know Yuma made a mistake, but it is not the first time. And I am sure he has a reason for this. Is my mind playing tricks on me again?"

Now he was worried. He didn't like this new 'feelings' he was having. It wasn't something he was used to; feeling so sad then so angry suddenly. It was really hard for him to control all this new emotions. He hoped that wasn't the reason why Yuma did this.

"What if maybe… Is my fault that Yuma is acting this way? What if Yuma is trying to be normal and I cannot leave him be? What if Yuma doesn't want to be with me? Maybe is because of that. Is because I am in his way, right? Or maybe… Yuma is trying to protect me…" He opened his eyes wide. "What if that is it?! Yuma maybe is trying to protect me from something. But what could it be…?"

He was deep in thought. So deep, he didn't notice the change in the atmosphere.

"And here I thought you didn't have feelings." A slow-evil-teasingly chuckle drew him from his thoughts. (What? It's true! XD)

The blue alien looked up and stood; a serious look in his face. "What are you doing here? I do believe you are not welcomed in this place."

"Oh please!~ Let's leave our differences aside. After all, we're on the same team, aren't we?" The black alien smiled.

"Differences or not, you are still not welcomed here." The blue one spoke dead serious.

"Hmm…? Oh! I see… You're jealous, aren't you? You're jealous because Yuma's with me and he trust me more. That's it, isn't it?" An evil grin forming in his face. He sure was enjoying this.

"Why would I be jealous of you? You may think Yuma is with you, but I am sure Yuma has a plan of his own." Astral turned his back while crossing his arms, completely sure of what he was saying.

A strong laugh filled the Key, making the Astral being eye the laughing Number.

"What is so funny? I believe I did not say something you could laugh at." The Astral being asked a bit irritated.

"Oh! You surely did! In fact, you've said the funniest thing I have ever heard in my life!" The Number continued laughing, what only made the blue alien get more irritated.

"Think what you wish! I am sure Yuma would never betray me! He has a reason for doing all this! I know it!" He yelled, what made the Number stop laughing and start smiling.

"Now, now, My Dear Astral~ That just sounded like if you were trying to convince yourself instead of me. You're really that desperate?" Black Mist said, a smile dancing in his lips.

Astral opened his eyes wide. "Trying to convince myself? No! No! I am not trying to convince myself! I am completely sure of what I am saying!" Astral eyed the Number. "You are wrong Black Mist. I am not trying to convince myself. I am just saying the truth you are scared of. You should face it; it does not matter how much you try, Yuma would never fall in one of your tricks!"

Black Mist laughed. "Oh, really? Well, I don't think the same. At least that's what Yuma has been showing me… You know, Yuma's been more… Cooperative than you could think."

Astral narrowed his eyes. "What do you mean?"

The Number smiled and started floating slowly around the Key. "It's been a while since I've been here. There's so much to explore…"

Astral quickly followed with narrowed eyes. "Do not change the topic. What did you meant with 'cooperative'?"

The Number kept smiling and continued floating, but didn't answer the question Astral made. This action angered Astral.

"Answer me! What did you meant?!" Astral yelled, what made Black Mist's smile wider.

"I think this is actually the first time I've been able to see the Key. Don't you think the same, Astral? After all, I've always been trapped by the seal you made." The Number touched one of the golden gears, admiring its beauty.

"Stop changing the topic. If you are not going to talk, then leave!" Astral demanded, crossing his arms.

The Number stopped his tracks. "Now, now~ I never said I wasn't going to talk…" Black Mist said, gaining Astral's attention. "But I'm not entirely sure if I should do it..."

"What do you mean? Why would you not be sure?" The blue alien asked getting near the Number.

"Don't get me wrong. It's just… I know Yuma and you haven't been the closest friends right now… And as you should know, I made a promise to Yuma. And maybe, I would be breaking my part of the promise if I tell you." Black Mist spoke with 'concern'.

Astral frowned. "We both know you really do not care about whatever promise you made. You only want to fulfill your evil purposes using every metod you can. I may not know what is your plan, but keep Yuma away from it!"

"My, My, Astral! You really see only the worst of me? Haven't you think the possibility that maybe I've changed?" Black Mist asked with 'hurt'.

"Speaking truly, no, I have not. I know how you are, you would not change that fast." Astral said serious.

"You know what? Why don't you give me a chance to prove I've changed? I could show you that I really want the best for Yuma if you let me. What do you say?" The Number spoke getting near the blue alien.

"Prove it? How do you intend doing that in the first place?" Astral narrowed his eyes suspecting Black Mist was hiding something.

"It's very simple! In fact, why don't I start now by telling you what you want to know?" Black Mist smiled.

"You are going to tell me? Even knowing you would break the promise?" Astral asked, with hope of finally knowing the truth.

"Sure~ After all, a good friend does the best for those in need. I don't care if Yuma didn't want me to tell you, I believe it's best if you know the truth. Maybe that way I can prove I've changed and you two could work with your friendship." The evil Number smirked, giving the chills down Astral's spine.

"Could this be a good idea? How do I know he is not going to lie? Should I listen to what he has to say?" Astral crossed his arms feeling a bit insecure with Black Mist's smirk.

"So, what do you say? You wanted to know what I meant with 'cooperative', correct? Plus, I bet you also want to know about the promise I made with Yuma and why we made it in the first place. "

"You really would tell me everything? I mean, I want to know but how I know you are saying the truth?" Astral spoke still with his arms crossed.

"It seems you just have to trust in me, there's no other way. So, tell me, you want me to tell you or not?" Black Mist asked still smirking.

"I..." Astral thought what would be best, but his curiosity and his desire to know the truth took over him. "I want to know. Tell me everything. Tell me what Yuma did not wanted you to tell me. Tell me about that promise."

"Of course My Dear Astral~ Follow me." The black Number made a movement with his hand and then started floating deep inside the Key.

"I just hope... I am making the right decision... Yuma..." The Astral being looked up for a moment before finally following the Number.

A cold breeze was blowing through the open window in the attic. It was very dark, the stars were the only thing giving light to the room. A blue flashligh - err, I mean - a blue entity was in the midle of the room looking at the breathing siluete of his partner. It seem he was deep in his thoughts. Still, his mismatched were filled with sorrow. Looking at his partner with his arms crossed, the blue entity sighed and, without noticing, a single tear escaped his eyes.

"All this time I thought... That you were strong, that nothing could stop you... But you are just a little boy, you also are scared of the future, scared of the past... I am sorry, Yuma, I did not notice what your heart was screaming at me..." The blue entity remembered the conversation he had just a couple of minutes ago.

[FlashBack]

The Number stopped his tracks in front of the Number's pillars. "Astral... You have no idea of what you've done to Yuma..." The Number spoke, while giving his back to the blue alien.

The Astral being opened his eyes wide. "What do you mean?"

"Astral! Are you really that blind?! Yuma's heart is broken! And you're the one who did it!" The Number yelled, but he didn't turned.

Astral felt his heart shrink. "W-what? W-what do you mean?!"

"You really are blind, aren't you? Haven't you notice Yuma's actions lately? His sudden change in attitude, his less emotion while dueling; he's not even eating or sleeping well anymore! Tell me Astral, have you ever take the time to think that maybe Yuma is still a boy? That maybe your appearance in his life made things worse for him?"

Astral was silent. It was true, he never stopped to think if Yuma was fine with the sudden change.

"I promised Yuma to help him. I would help him hide his feelings, so no one would be worried about him. But true is, I'm worried for Yuma. I've seen him like no one has. He has cried in my shoulder, he has admitted his feelings when he's with me. And he has told me, that you... Were the main reason to his breakdowns." Black Mist kept his position facing the pillars while he spoke.

Astral started tearing. "Is t-that really t-true? I am the m-main reason for Yuma's s-sadness?"

The Number nodded. "It's true Astral. When I said that Yuma was being more 'cooperative', I meant that Yuma finally accepts my help more. I'm trying to help him in all ways I can, but... It would be better if you stay away..."

"W-why?" Astral asked trembling.

"Your presence may lower my help with Yuma, if you get what I mean." Black Mist spoke with seriousness, but didn't turned his back.

"I-I understand... I will n-not interfere anymore..." Astral accepted.

The Number only nodded and dissapeared in a flash of purple light, leaving Astral alone.

Astral fell to his knees and started sobbing. He felt horrible for being the main reason to Yuma's saddness.

[End FlashBack]

The blue entity gave another sigh and lokked at the sleeping boy.

"Is there a way I could possibly do to repair all the damage I did to you?" He thought.

He then saw a little piece of paper in the floor. He got near and read what it said.

"How can I find something when I'm not even searching for it?"

"It is like the first time... I saw a simple note and everything turned badly... The only difference is... That this time I will not bother you. I will let Black Mist help you, because right now, he is more capable than me..." With that last thought, the blue entity returned to the Key.
