Chapter 439
Buffy was determined to protect Dawn, but also to prevent her from killing innocent people. Some argued that these things were mutually exclusive, but Buffy refused to believe that. But there were certain neccessities, namely giving Dawn blood. Angel recommended Dawn not drink any human blood, or she'd never be able to quit. With Willy gone Buffy tried buying animal blood from local butchers. Many were afraid of something, none would say what, but Buffy had some theories. One butcher sold pig blood when Buffy applied the right amount of money and force. On Wednesday April 24th Buffy was patrolling, when Dracula approached her. She wasn't suprised, she believed he was cutting off her blood. Dracula offerred Buffy a gift. A bag of blood from a blood bank, and a thermos of animal blood.

Dracula: I heard what happenned to your sister. If you really want to prevent her from killing she'll need this. I leave it to your discretion which one to give her.
Buffy: Thank you. What's the catch?
Dracula: Me and the council have a lot of stored blood. I will give some to Dawn, and your other vampire friends. In return, we want to come back to Sunnydale.
Buffy: After what you guys did?
Dracula: Kakistos acted without my consent. He and his allies are dust. I know because I helped you and Faith in that endeavor. My allies on the Council remained neutral. And, lest you forget, I still have pieces of the Chalice. We'll need to work together to defeat the Master.
Buffy: Fine. You don't kill humans, come back
Dracula: And the Watchers? They seem rational enough for an alliance. But a rogue slayer? What about Faith?
Buffy: You'll have to ask her. You should just remember that I'll do whatever I have to do in order to protect my little sister, no matter who I'm against.
