Chapter 445
Daniel and Justine Holtz arrived at Rondell's house early saturday morning. Justine was uneasy about this group, but she hoped it could protect Steven from Angelus and Darla. Assuming it wanted too. Faith wasn't here, but dr Weireck, Tor, Rhonda, Dave, Fritz, Janice, Frawley, Gib Cain, Wood, and Tucker were all here.
Holtz: I have a weapon that can destroy the Concillium Mortuum once and for all.
Rondell: Good. But ther is another measure that we should consider.
Holtz: Shouldn't we wait for Faith?
Rondell: It's about Faith. She is a rogue slayer. On our side, for now, until her mood changes. I believe we need a new slayer.
Holtz; I'd prefer that too. But that's ot possible unless...
As Holtz said this he realized what Rondell was planning.
Holtz; She's still a slayer.
Rondell: Everyone in this room has lost someone to the monsters. And this slayer, and her president, are partly to blame. You told me that your son is the child of two vampires. Steven is in love with a girl who is now a vampire.
Holtz: With my weapon we will destroy these vampires. But not the slayer.
Rondell: Then leave.
Holtz: I will not let you hurt Faith.
Rondell: Let's put it to a vote. In the event of a tie, let's assume Faith is the tie-breaker, and we do nothing. Show of hands. All in favor of killing Faith, raise your hands.

Holtz noticed some campaigning briefly. Fritz pressured Dave to vote yes. It seemed these two might be a couple, with Fritz being abusive. Cain and Frawley argued. They were war buddies. Cain said it was one thing to kill monsters to protect humans, another to kill humans. In the end Rondell raised his own hand. Dr Weireck, Tor, Fritz, Janice, Frawley, and Tucker raised their hands. Daniel, Justine, Dave, Rhonda, Wood, Cain, and presumably Faith, were against killing Faith. Rondell won by a single vote. Holtz wondered if Rondell would really call this off if he lost the vote. As it was he couldn't let the others leave. They couldn't be allowed to warn Faith.
