Adam swore allegiance to the Circle of the Black Thorn on this Sunay. It was clear that the Circle didn't believe in evil for the sake of evil, but rather for the power that evil brings. He preferred these people to the Master or the First. Adam noted other members, Dracula, Holland Manners, Virginia Bryce, even president Wilkins through closed-circuit television. For now it was neccessary to be in the Circle to achieve his ends. Eventually these people would serve Adam, assuming he let them live. Adam realized these people likely had similar personal goals. He would have to be careful.
