A/N
Okay, I was not going to post this today but seeing as I'll be gone for a while and the huge amount of 2 reviews and 3 follows just made me do it. I can't tell you guys what that means to me. I'm excited to write this and hopefully I'll finish it because that's something I always have trouble doing. I don't ask for reviews for personal gain. I ask for them so I can get a boost of confidence and keep writing. You're reviews make this story better.
Enough of my babbles…enjoy!
Chapter 2
Rin felt the ground beneath her but still kept her eyes shut. She opened one eye and then when she was met with darkness she opened both eyes. She steadily stood up with a hand on the wall for balance.
"Hello!? Cho, are you guys there." Rin yelled up hearing a small echo. As she peered up the well she was blinded by a bright light. "What the hell?"
Rin looked around to try and find something to help her climb back up. Spotting some vines draping down. She tugged on them to see if they could support her. Pleased with how strong they were she proceeded to climb. When she reached the top she pulled herself up over the ledge and swung over her leg with the rest of her body following. She was surprised to feel soft grass beneath her and see trees instead of the small hut in which she was in earlier. She heard birds chirping and marveled at how blue the sky was. It seemed a lot brighter and the color was more vibrant. The air smelled fresh and the light breeze was welcoming.
She stood up unsure of herself. She didn't want to leave but she felt that same familiar tug at her as she did before she jumped in the well.
Rin listened to the song of the birds pondered over what she should do when she heard a loud scream come from the woods. As if on instinct she ripped off in the direction she heard it and ran. She came upon a young girl lying on the ground with a dark purple youkai hovering over her. It was tall with gross scaly skin and thick saliva dripping from it's mouth.
"You seem most delicious ningen. I can't wait to eat you up." The youkai snarled. He made a move at the girl and before Rin knew it she threw a rock at it's head. The youkai turned to face her, infuriated. "How dare you?! I will devour you too!" He started running after her and Rin bolted in the other direction.
"Get down kid!" Rin heard and instinctively ducked behind a fallen tree. She watched, over the tree bark, a man wearing red cloth with long silver hair jump out in front of her.
"Get out of my way half breed." The large demon growled.
The man with the silver hair scoffed "Not a chance."
"Very well, I'll just have to kill you and then take the girl for myself."
"I would like to see you try!" The man with the silver hair pulled out a giant sword holding it out in front of him. The youkai Charged at the man but he swiftly jumped up high in the air and sliced the head off of the yokai. He landed barely making a sound.
"You just cut his head off…..like it was nothing!" Rin exclaimed coming out of hiding. Shaking a bit, she stared at the youkai's head lying feet away from the rest of it's body. She lokked up at the man as he turned around to face her and that's when she noticed the dog ears.
"It was nothing." He said casually. "I kill stronger demons than him every day."
"Your ears…Can I touch them?" Rin asked entranced by them. She moved her shaking hand towards his ears.
"No!" the man yelled putting his sword away. "You're welcome, by the way."
"Uhh thanks." Rin was a little dumb founded by the whole situation. She falls into the well and comes out into an entirely different place. Maybe her predictions were true. Maybe she was in a different dimension. Or maybe this was a hallucination. To Rin it didn't really matter and she figured to just go along with it. "My name is Rin." She smiled a little and held out her hand.
Inuyasha looked Rin up and down and she nervously pulled at her school uniform afraid that something was showing. Something in Inuyasha's mind clicked and she slowly put her hand down. "My name is Inuyasha." He said slowly. He turned away and started to walk away.
"Wait! Where are you going?" Rin called out running up to him.
"Just follow me." Inuyasha replied as she caught up. A little annoyed by his attitude she rolled her eyes and followed him to wherever he was going.
As they were walking through the woods, a large tree came in to sight. Rin's mouth formed an "o" shape. "That tree."
"It's a sacred tree. I was actually bound to that tree for years. I think it was about 50 years, but then Kagome…"
"Wait, Kagome?" Rin whispered under her breath. She looked up at Inuyasha's robes and recognized the shape and color from the blurry pictures captured from the event. Kagome, red robes, silver hair, odd times, fighting demons, I must be in a hallucination right now.
"So you were bound to a tree for 50 years?" You asked skeptically.
"Yeah. It was a little over 40 years ago though. I still remember it like it was yesterday though." Inuyasha had a small smile on his face like he was remembering a memory. You could see where his face had soften over the years. He had these wrinkles that suggested he held a very stern or angry face but smile lines had started to form over them.
For a man claiming to be almost a hundred years old he looked barely 25. Rin couldn't believe her ears. "Can I ask you about something?" Rin asked him
"Sure. I can't promise I'll answer though." He smirked at you glancing through his hair.
"What were you doing about 23 years ago?" He stopped dead in his tracks and Rin almost ran into him. By the look on his face she could tell he knew what she was talking about. Those smile lines disappeared and revealed that stoic face that was barely ever seen,
"We don't talk about that." He looked up to the blue sky and his eyes crinkled a little in pain. "There was this man….he…." Inuyasha closed his eyes and and let his head fall. He chuckled slightly and looked at her. "When you meet Kagome please don't ask her about it."
Rin's face was pale now and she nodded her head. Inuyasha started walking again and Rin followed in silence. She knew that what had happened was tragic. People died, families lost their homes, but it never really occurred to her how horrible it actually was. It always seemed like a movie. Like it was made up.
They came to the top of the hill and stopped for Rin to take a moment to rest. She had never thought she was so out of shape but in her era there was no need to walk around this much.
"We'll be going down there." Inuyasha nodded his head down the hill. Rin got up, looked over the clearing, and saw several small wooden huts laid out. She could spot several people walking about and working in the fields.
"Its small." Rin commented. "But it's charming. The city, where I come from, it's always so busy and crowded. This is refreshing."
"Sounds….. unfortunate." Inuyasha replied. I looked up at him and shrugged my shoulders.
"It can be."
