Bethany thought about her life. She'd been molested by her father since she was ten. Logically she knew it wasn't her fault, but the shame still crept up on her at times. When she got pregnant she tried to protect her baby But her father found out, he beat Bethany until she mis-carried. Bethany wanted revenge, she found the Order of Taraka. Their basic tenant was that the world was mad up of two types of people, innocents and killers. To take a life, for whatever reason, was to forever abandon innocence and become a killer. The order only killed other killers. They agreed to murder Bethany's father, only if she would agree to work for them. And thus Bethany joined the Order of Taraka, becoming an assasin. At first she didn't mind, killing other murderers. But this became harder over time. Not just the actual killings, but believing what the Order told her, that they were all murderers. Bethany presented the Watcher's case to her superiors. Their lives were in danger as much as anyone. But they refused to give up their piece of the Chalice. They felt the Watchers were exxagerating, trying to steal the Chalice for themselves. But Bethany knew that Travers was telling the truth. Using skills that the Order taught her Bethany stole the piece of the Chalice and fled to Sunnydale. Even if the world were saved Bethany knew that she'd earned a death sentance from the Order of Taraka. But she wasn't as worried about the Order of Taraka as she was the First evil. And for the first time in a long time Bethany felt good about her actions.
