Chapter 465
Spike watched as Angel and Darla talked with Conner and Dawn. They looked like a real vampire family. Spike remembered the old days with Drusilla and these other two. Those had been good times. They'd been a family once, they went back too far for Spike to want to see any of them dusted. Then Spike saw her, Drusilla, standing near the door, then she walked away. Although he thought he might be hallucinating Spike still followed after her. Angel and Darla saw them as well. They began wondering if Spike could really be trusted. Drusilla was now the Master's favorite, as Darla had once been. And Drusilla always had a certain power over Spike. Could she have turned Spike to the Order of Aurelius. They quietly followed the other two vampires out. With their enhanced hearing they could make out some of Spike and Dru's conversation. Angel and Darla tried keping as quiet as possible, for fear they could be heard.

Drusilla: I see the slayer Spike. She's all over you.
Spike: She means nothing to me, just a temporary alliance. When this is over we'll try to kill each other.
Drusilla: You don't believe that yourself, you expect to fool me? Join me in the king's army.
Spike: I don't want to die. I don't want you to die.
Drusilla: The end is near. This building, this lovely little party, none of it matters anymore. All that remains is to choose a side. Don't be weak, human. I saved you so we could join in the Apocalypse, together.
Spike: What do you mean, saved me?
Drusilla: In barely a moon the world, and all life, will be destroyed. But for the vampires in that toy castle, death will come much sooner.
