Chapter 467
Conner and Dawn were talking in private. Spike had warned her that for a vampire Love and hate weren't as far apart as they might be for humans. Conner had never hated Dawn, he'd just put his mother ahead of his girlfriend. Then, Conner had a headache come on him all at once. For Dawn the pain was much worse. She felt more pain than she'd ever felt as a human, even when they killed her. Conner tried to help Dawn, but had no iea what to do. Then he realized that someone ws going to take advantage of this. Maybe this was a power struggle within the council, maybe the slayer. Conner promised to stay and protect Dawn until this danger passed. Then Holtz showed up. From the look on his father's eyes Conner knew that he was going to hurt Dawn. Holtz told Conner to step aside. Conner refused. Holtz tried pushing Conner away. Conner hit Holtz, then Hiltz hit back. They didn't like this, father fighting son, but they both seemed stuck in this situation. Then Holtz was knocked down, by principal Wood. Buffy had thrown her hostage directly into Daniel Holtz. As her pain began to subside Dawn attacked Holtz and bit his neck. Buffy and Conner tore Dawn away from Holtz. Noone seemed sure what came next. Dawn had now tasted human blood. It happenned so quickly in anger she didn't have time to think about it. Would she be able to adapt to animal blood. Buffy finally decided to just take Dawn home.
