Chapter 468
Holtz's group, including Conner, helped him to leave Castle Dracula. They thought they'd gotten all the vampires, except Dawn, but any survivors would likely seek revenge. During the ride home Holtz talked with Conner.
.
Conner: I thought you had a truce with the vampires.
Holtz: They were demons Steven. It's their nature to kill and maim.
Conner: Those ones weren't a threat.
Holtz: Ofcourse they were. Even if Dracula was telling the truth, that Kakistos acted alone, those ones would've done similar things eventually.
Conner: Does that include Dawn. or my other parents?
Holtz: Yes. Angel might have a soul, but the demon is inside him, all the time. It's not his fault, just the way he is. He will kill innocnets eventually. Darla, Spike, and Dawn are pure demons. They don't kill because they are afraid. But the demon will win out eventually. You saw what Dawn tried to do tonight.
Conner: In her defense, you did try to kill her first. Not to mention what I did to her.
Holtz; You committed a great sin against her, when she was a human. Truth is, as a human, Dawn would've had a good case for vengeance against you. But that human is dead now. All that remains is the demon who killed her and now wears her face. I hoped that my near death would at least convince you of that.
Conner: Maybe you're right. But Angel and Darla had me as vampires. For better or worse, Dawn is now my people.
Holtz: You can't serve two masters. You'll have to choose between my world, or theirs.
Conner: I know. I'll be out by sunrise.
