Chapter 469
Buffy and Dawn walked home in awkward silence. Dawn hadn't seen her mother since she'd been turned. Buffy wasn't sure this was a good idea, but it was the safest place for Dawn. But would Buffy and Joyce be safe? The silence was unbearable so finally Dawn spoke.

Dawn: I'm sorry I bit him okay, but he tried to kill me.
Buffy: I had it under control.
Dawn: It didn't seem that way in the heat of the moment.
Buffy: That's what scares me Dawn. The idea that someday you won't be able to control it. That you'll just kill and eat some random innocent. Holtz might not have been inocent but what about the next guy? It scares me that I can't protect you, or what you're becoming, what I'm becoming. I held our principal hostage, I migt've killed him. Maybe I would have if you'd been hurt. I'm terrified that so much is happenning, and I can't stop it. But I'm not giving up. Not on this world, not on you. I just haven't figured out a solution yet.
