Chapter 483
President Wilkins was in California on May 11th. He was negotiating with multiple negotiations from Sloboda. It seemed to be about Wilkins solidifying his own power as much as anything. Holland Manners was calling for a meeting of the Circle of the Black Thorn at Wolfram and Hart. Holland seemed to be making some sort of power play. He must have something up his sleeve. During this visit the president also saw Faith.
.
Wilkins: Holland is planning something. I don't know what, but if anything happens I want you to protect Edna Mae.
Faith: I will. But I'm not sure I want to be a part of this anymore.
Wilkins: I understand. After all that you've been through, you should take a little time off.
Faith: It's not just that. I don't like what we do, to that congressman's granddaughter, to Karadizc.
Wilkins: We only frightened the congressman. And Karadizc had plenty of chances to make peace and avoid genocide.
Faith: How do we know these actions won't have un-intended consequences? For all of us.
Wilkins: Care must be taken, seers can't predict everything. But these actions ultimately mean less death. Maybe history will look down on my presidency. But at least I care. Seriously Faith, any other serious contender for my job, who else cares about more than re-election? Republicans start wars because it's more politicall popular than simple assasinations. The Democrats are embarrassed to admit that the killing of one million un-born children per year is a tragedy. Who else could do a better job than me?
Faith: Maybe you are a better leader than the others. Maybe your evil is neccessary. But I'm not comparing players anymore, I want out of the game.
