Chapter 488
After Quentin's meeting with the Oracles he called Giles. They were encouraged that they'd find the whole Chalice soon, but the recent destruction of the Circle and Wolfram and Hart they were nervous. Giles said that the Chalice of life was starting to look like an actual Chalice. After this call Quetin called fellow watcher Simon. He was explaining things when they were interrupted suddenly. Quentin heard nothing except static. He tried calling back, nothing. Quentin tried calling Lydia, nothing. Then Quentin saw people's reactions on the streets. Stunned, horrified. The last time he could remember seeing people like this was America on September 11th 2001. Quentin asked a strangr what happenned. They said that someone set off a suitcase nuke in London. Over ten thousand dead. No word yet on who was responsible. Quentin knew who was responsible. Whatever radical group might've been manipulated into this action it seemed clear that it was the First evil who was behind this. The First destroyed the Watcher's council to cripple their ability to stop the end. Quentin knew that his friends were gone. But he vowed that he would not let their deaths be in vain. Quentin would either stop the First, or die in the quest.
