Chapter 504
Charon brought Buffy and the two vampires across the river Styx to the gates of the underworld. Once on this side they began searching these caves for Giles. As they searched they felt like they were being watched. Soon they saw exactly what was watching them. Several people, former enemies, all dead, now surrounding them. Buffy recognized Dana, Amy, Warren, Kakistos, Vincent, Rondell. There were many others whom they didn't recognize, but who recognized Buffy. They seemed to blame Buffy for being trapped here. Buffy tried to increase her own odds. She asked why Dana would ally with a witch like Amy. This did seem to cause some tension between those two. Spike told Kakistos that Vincent helped betray him, got Kakistos killed. Kakistos attacked Vincent. But the other dead villains attacked Buffy, Angel, and Spike. They were determined to force them to become permament residents. Buffy saw an opening. Spike and Angel followed her into this cave. They might be good fighters, but they were greatly outnumbered. Their only chance was to lose their persuers.
