Chapter 509
The people of Sunnydale had learned to accept a certain amount of danger. Satanic murders, bodies mysteriously drained of blood. But the sun itself had dissapeared over their town. According to president Wilkins and his state scientists the darkness was limited to this small town in California, but it was slowly spreading. Noone yet knew how to bring it back. People had enough, many began fleeing Sunnydale. Dr Gregory called his grandchildren in San Diego, they agreed to let him crash on their couch. Others tried to book hotels out of town, although they very quickly filled up. By Tuesday morning the National Guard were setting up camps for Sunnydale refugees. Ricky tried to help his children find homes outside Sunnydale. Some doctors fled with everyone else, but some patients were too sick to move. Ben decided to stay and offer what help he could. The only other doctors to stay were Chris Epps, and hospital administrator Backer. Chris' brother Daryl and Daryl's wife April took baby Cordelia and left. Many in Sunnydale had to make this choice. To stay and fight the darkness, or flee, possibly forever.
