Faith wasn' the most politically literate person. But as she saw her father on tv, talking about nations coming together, she wondered. Clearly someone might be gaining power, but for how long? The little Faith remembered from highschool history suggested that emergency powers are rarely given up voluntarily. Faith calld her adoptive mother Edna Mae.
.
Faith: Why is dad making these agreements with other countries? The Chalice of Life, defeating the Master, will bring back the sun.
Edna: Well your little friend left Sunnydale. If she doesn't come back, we need a back-up plan. Besides, no reason we can't all get along when this is over.
Faith: You're probably right. As long as I don't have to do anything bad to make them get along.
Edna: Your father just wants what's best for this world. You do know that Faith?
Faith: I know mom. I also know he thinks e knows what's best for everyone.
Edna: I remember when we were first courting, sneaking small kisses when our chaperone wasn't watching. Richard hated so much violence in this world, more than anything he wanted to help people. But e knew that might mean violence to end all violence. I wanted to be part of that, to spend the rest of my life with him.
Faith: I'm glad you have each other, and I love both of you. I just don't want to be part of this stuff anymore.
Edna: I understand, this life is not for everyone.
Faith: Thanks mom. I have to go, there's something about to happen in this town that I want to be a part of.
