Chapter 529

Angel had spent centuries trying to get over his father issues. He'd thought about the circumstances of his childhood. When he was named Liam, Liam's father was a silk merchant, fairly successful. But it was a time when cotton was rapidly replacing silk. This was also a time whe the British were passing anti-catholic laws in Ireland. All of this caused tension in Liam's household. But the truth was Liam never did much to earn his father's respect. He stole the family silver and used it to buy drink and women. On Monday morning Angel had a vision of his father, still as stoic and dissaproving as ever.

.

Father: Well, you've made quite a mess, haven't you boy?

Angel: It wasn't my fault. I was turned against my will.

Father: I warned you that loose women would be the end of you. I didn't see this coming, but I was right.

Angel: What exactly do you expect me to do?

Father: To make something of your life. To do what you can to fight against the devil, or the First as you call him.

Angel: I can't. I have a family to think of.

Father: If you cannot stop the devil, Darla and your boy will die.

Angel: I know. But I don't know what I can do.

Father: Why don't you go back and find out.

Angel: And if I die.

Father: Then hopefully your sacrifice will not be in vain. Your family will survive.
