Guyysss hiiii
Clove POV:
After being hit by the force field I'm weak, so Cato carries me all the way. I hate to be carried, I want to walk, but Cato insisted. Finnick is taking the front and Haymitch is taking the back. I still don't know if I trust Haymitch, but he hasn't stabbed Cato in the back yet so I trust him, for now.
"It's getting dark soon, I think we should find a shelter," Finnick says, putting Mags down. We all sit and discuss our plan.
"I say we go against the force field, it'll be great protection," I say.
"Cato, how'd you know there was a force field ahead?" Finnick asks. Everyone turns to him to find out how he knew, I'm even curious.
"Uh, well... I can hear it," he says. I know he's lying.
"How?" Finnick presses on.
"Well I had a bad ear before I went into the games, so after I won they repaired it, I guess they repaired it too good though," Cato says. Everyone seems satisfied with his response and continue strategizing. I shoot Cato a, We Need To Talk Later, look and return to the conversation. Just then cannons start to boom.
BOOM
BOOM
BOOM
BOOM
BOOM
BOOM
BOOM
BOOM
I look over to see Finnick chuckling.
"Do you think that it's funny?" I demand.
"Yes, I do. Every time a cannon comes, it's music to my ears. It means I'm one step closer to going home. I don't care about anyone in here, I'll kill anyone," Finnick says smiling.
"That's nice to know," I say, grabbing a sword on the ground and aiming it at him. He raises his trident. He looks calm and relaxed, but he's in his defensive stance. I try to calculate how long it would take to throw a knife to how long it would take to throw a trident.
"Stop," Cato says, stepping in front of both of us, sending Finnick a glare. I reluctantly put my knife down and he lowers his trident.
"I say Cato takes the lead because he can hear the force field," Haymitch says.
"I'll take the back," I say. I need to feel like I'm doing something. Cato looks as if he's going to protest, but I send a glare his way and he starts to walk. Cato ends up throwing some type of strange nuts at the force field to see where it is. Then Mags catches my eye. She's actually eating them!
"Mags!" I yell, startling everyone. "Those might be poisoned, those could kill you," I look over to Finnick for back up, but he looks calm.
"I think if they were poisoned, she would have known," he says. He picks up a nut and unpeels it to reveal a chestnut.
"They're edible," Mags mumbles, eating more. I can't help myself and I pick up a few. It tastes so good, I take a few more. Cato follows suit and eats.
"We should set up camp here," Cato declares, sitting down.
"I'm going to hunt," I announce.
"Clove you can't," Cato walks after me.
"And why is that?" I ask, crossing my arms. His answer better be good.
"Because you might get hurt," that gets me annoyed.
"Hurt? Cato I'm pregnant, not fucking disabled!" I yell. Cato walks off and I continue. These aren't the woods from last games, there are vines everywhere. I duck behind a slimy tree and wait. Soon enough there is an ugly looking rat, walking on the tree. I quickly let my knife fly and run over to the dead animal. It's kind of heavy, but what is suprising is it's muzzle. It's wet, so there must have been water here. I walk around some more, but I can't find anything and Cato must be worrying. I sit down and whip the sweat off my face. I'm dehydrated and the baby isn't helping. I quickly gut it and bring the meat to our camp. Cato meets me with a hug and a kiss which I accept.
"What is that?" Finnick asks in disgust.
"Well I'm sorry if this isn't good enough, but I got food," I glare at him. He just chuckles and surveys the meat in my hand.
"Do we cook it?" Haymitch asks.
"No, a fire will be too visible," Cato replies.
"Here," Mags walks over to a stick and breaks it into small pieces, then sticks the chunks of meat onto the stick. She throws them at the forcefield and they come back slightly burnt. We applaud each grab a stick and eat. The meat is surprisingly good and I eat two sticks of it. Just then a parachute comes. Cato makes a grab for it and greedily opens the package. Inside is a note from Enobaria.
"Drink up," I read aloud. I look at it. It's a metal tube with two sides, one side is sharper than the other one. I think, I've seen this before.
"I think it's a spiel," I say, grabbing it and running to a tree.
"Of course, Clove your a genius," Cato says, running after me. I stab the sharper part into a nearby tree and look at the spiel, hoping for something to come out. At first a small stream of water comes out, as I push the spiel in more the water comes out faster.
"No way," I hear Finnick murmur. I drink some water and move aside. Cato drinks, then Haymitch, then Finnick drinks.
"I need to get a leaf," Finnick says as he runs over and fills a big leaf of water. I look at him puzzled until I see him walking toward Mags. I let the warm water run through my hair and I wash my face with it. After everyone has ate and drank, it's getting really dark.
"I'll take first watch," Finnick announces as the darkness surrounds us.
"As if, I'll take the first watch," Cato says, glancing at me.
"Okay, we can take it together," Finnic slinks off.
"Go to sleep Clove," Cato says, brushing the hair out of my face.
"Only for a little, but come with me," I say pulling him with me. The nightmares have gotten so bad that I scream myself awake almost always, unless Cato is holding me. Cato lies down and I snuggle up to him. I fall asleep to his beating heart.
Hope you enjoy! reviewss
