A/N:This story never quite developed the way I wanted, so I am making this the last chapter. Sorry if that upsets you, but it upsets me that it was never quite what I wanted. But I know when to give up when I am struggling with a story and this was a struggle.
Regina took a seat across from Emma at the diner.
"Sorry I am late," Regina said.
"That's ok," Emma smiled.
"Still sore?"
"Nothing I can't handle."
Ruby came over and got Regina's order while putting Emma's food down in front of her. "What do you think we should do for our next date?" Emma said.
"I think we should do something with Henry this weekend. I want to make sure he is comfortable with all of this – with me and you dating."
"I think he is fine with it," Emma said. "But since I do enjoy spending time with both of you I think it's a great idea. Any ideas on what to do?"
"There is some movie that Henry wants to go to, something about turtles and mutation," Regina said. "I am not sure if it is a documentary or something."
Emma laughed, "Definitely not a documentary. It's an action flick. Hey, don't go making faces. It will be great. I mean if you thought you could destroy things with your magic, wait until you see how much Michael Bay can destroy in a mere two hours."
"I am sure my magic would be more than a match for this Bay person or his turtles."
…
Emma couldn't help but keep glancing over at Regina during the movie. Her features were hard to see in the dark theater and add to that the 3D glasses which Regina had looked at with distain when handed to her. Yet every time Emma looked at her, she thought Regina was totally engrossed in the film. It put a smile on her face.
At one point even Henry, who was sitting between the two women, had elbowed her and pointed at Regina also noting her attention was squarely on the film.
After the movie was over they went to Granny's for some ice cream.
"So you liked the movie?" Emma asked.
"It was ok."
"Ok. Regina, your eyes never left the screen."
"She's right mom," Henry added.
"I will say this; there was no real plot that I could tell. The acting was not great and the dialog was ridiculous. But I admit the action was very thrilling. Who knew so many things could explode."
"You worry me sometimes," Emma said.
…
When they arrived back at Regina's place, Emma got an invite in for coffee. Coffee turned into a make out session on the couch after Henry was in bed.
"We should um really stop," Emma said as Regina kissed her neck. "Because if you keep that up I am not going to be able to um stop myself."
Regina kept on kissing, one her hands was already up Emma's shirt and on her bra-covered breast. She incredibly turned on and she didn't want to stop. Yes, there were plenty of reasons why she should – their relationship was still new and there was no guarantee they would ever be able to make it fully work, but for now everything had seemed perfect. She wanted to be able to show Emma how much she cared for her, not just say it.
She pulled away though and looked Emma in the eyes.
"I'm ready," she said. "For the next step."
"Are you sure?" Emma asked, searching her eyes for the answer. "I don't want you to feel like we have to do this."
"I want to do this."
"Good," Emma said in relief. She was fairly sure if Regina hadn't stopped kissing her when she did that most of Regina's clothes would be on the floor in less than a minute.
Regina took her hand and pulled her up, keeping the hand in hers as she led her up to her bedroom. Emma's heart rate increased with each step.
Only when they were inside the room did Regina let go of her, turning to shut the door. Emma saw her wave her hand across the door as well.
"What was that?" Emma asked, recognizing magic being done.
"Silencing spell," Regina said. "Just in case."
"I like the way you think," Emma said advancing on her and kissing her for just a moment before pulling her toward the bed.
….
They lay there in bed naked, Emma acting as big spoon. She would occasionally kiss Regina's bare shoulder or run a finger across her skin at various parts. They were both mutually satisfied after making love several times over the course of the evening.
"You are so beautiful," Emma said kissing her again. "I can't believe how lucky I am to be here with you right now."
Regina turned to face her. "I am the lucky one," she said as she reached out stroked the side of Emma's face before kissing her lightly. "I've done so many things that should never have given me the right to be here right now with you, but here I am and I can hardly believe that this is happening."
"It is happening, and the other stuff, it's just stuff remember, it's the past. What's happening here and now this is our chance. I admit I was worried about coming up here with you because I didn't want to fuck this up. I didn't want to do or say something wrong because I'm not perfect by any stretch of the imagination as you know. What I want to say this feels right to me and I hope that you feel the same."
"It does," she smiled.
…
Henry came downstairs for breakfast and was surprised to see Emma there at the kitchen table drinking coffee. He noticed she was wearing the same clothes from the night before.
Both of his mothers had separate talks with over the course of the last week about their relationship. Both had expressed that if this was an issue for him that they would back off.
But as he sat down at the table he could only smile.
He had told them both that this is what he wanted – their family together.
….
Emma watched as Regina flipped a pancake, trying not to smile too much at the thought that she had spent the night familiarizing herself with the body underneath those clothes. She turned to Henry and did smile.
"Morning kid," she said.
"Good morning," he smiled. "Mom makes really good pancakes."
"I bet she does," she replied again sneaking a look at Regina.
"So are you to like girlfriends now?"
"Yes," she said seeing Regina look back at them when she heard the question. "Girlfriends."
"Good," he said.
…
Regina put a plate of pancakes in front of Henry to go with the glass of milk he had gotten for himself. She then brought over a plate for Emma and then finally sat down with her own food.
Regina looked at Henry and Emma who were both devouring their food in similar manners.
Emma raised her head up, "What?"
"Nothing my dear, I just never thought we would get here. I am glad I was wrong."
