Chapter 532

The first witness at Buffy's trial was Marcie Ross. Buffy was charged with letting Marcie die. She seemed to blame Buffy for being in this place. Buffy said she tried to save Marcie, but she'd stumbled upon the ritual too late to do anything. Solomon seemed to believe Buffy, it wasn't her fault if Marcie chose to end her own life. The next witness was Cordelia Chase. Although Cordelia defended Buffy Hades claimed that Buffy allowed Cordelia to die, instead of performing her slayer duties. Buffy wasn't too worried after these witnesses. Solomon must know that even a slayer can't save everyone, and one witness was defending Buffy. The third witness was Russell Winters. He said Buffy was complicit in his murder. Buffy defended her actions, killing Winters was the only way to save millions of innocent lives. And this gave Ampata a chance at life. Hades asked Buffy if killing one was justified to save many. When Buffy said yes Hades gave a strange smile that Buffy didn't understand. Then Hades called is next witness, Anne. She and many had been murdered by Kakistos, in part because Buffy hadn't gone against the Concillium Mortuum. Because Buffy had risked this when she asked Tara to remove the barrier at the cave. Buffy hadn't intended for these murders to happen, but they happenned. Buffy placed their lives below Dawn's. Just as she did by refusing to kill Dawn when she was turned. Hades argued that Buffy had no particular code, she merely did whatever she felt was right at the time. In that respect she wasn't much different from Faith. But Faith was becoming a real slayer again. Buffy abandoned the fight completely. Buffy found it difficult to argue with this, maybe Hades was right. Solomon retired to his chambers to determine Buffy's fate.
