Clove POV:

I'm falling. I'm tumbling. I feel a hand grip mine as I roll down. What am I rolling down? My legs are screaming from pain and my back hurts every time it hits the ground. All of a sudden I fall back first on the ground. My throat hurts from the fog being swallowed that I can't even scream. The wind's knocked out of me as I lay there trying to regain my breaths. I feel something pulling me towards them. I open my eyes to see Cato's hand holding me. But his hand is filled with painful looking boils. I look around to see Haymitch and Finnick lying close next to us. I look up in horror as I see the strange white gas advancing towards us. Cato hugs me tight and even though it hurts I don't protest. We need each other. Goodbye Cato. Goodbye world. I love you baby so much and I'm so sorry that I failed you before you were born. I'm sorry. I think as the fog comes closer. I close my eyes, ready to feel the pain over take me, but when it doesn't I open my eyes. The fog is traveling upwards, as if it hit a wall. I watch in wonder as the fog climbs up the invisible wall, then disappears. I look up to see a monkey looking down at me, then walking around. Monkeys? Monkeys don't live in the jungle. I lean over Cato and look at him. My breath catches in my throat. My Cato is badly injured, with all those boils surrounding his skin, making it look like Glimmers. I must look just like him, with boils sticking out of my skin. We must look weak to the sponsers, but right now I don't care. I can't even focus with the pain. I glance around at my surroundings to see a small lake. Water! I crawl over slowly on the stomach and gently put my hand in the water. I scream from pain and suprisement. I look at the water and see a white milky gas coming out of my hand. Automatically it feels better.

"The water! It helps!" I say through a croaking voice. I put my other hand in and bite my lip so I won't cry out again. I hear Cato crawiling over to the water too. He puts two hands in and screams in pain, but slowly lets out a sigh of relief. I slowly sumerge my body in the lake. I scream pitifully as I move too fast and fall into the water, body first. Then I experiment and gurgle the water in my mouth. I then open my eyes under the water and I wash behind my ears. I help Cato and he help me. Finally when I feel like I can function I look over at Cato and Haymitch.

"We better get them," he says. I nod and I start to drag Finnick. Cato takes Haymitch and drags him as well. I drag Finnick into the water until his whole body is sumerged. He lets out a scream and tries to get out, but I push him in again. He screams, but then he lets out a big sigh of relief. Cato copies me and drops Haymitch in the water. Haymitch screams the loudest, but slowly gets used to the water.

"I'll go get some water," Cato says, kissing my cheek and walking over to a nearby tree. I watch the men as they test out the water. Finnick slowly opens his mouth and lets the water flow in, then he spits it at me. I scream.

"Finnick you idiot!" I yell. Cato looks over, but when he sees nothing happens he chuckles and turns back around. Finnick winks and then starts to swim in the little space he has. He looks like a weird sea animal coming back to life. He swims and does an insane corkscrew and then plunges into the water. I wait for him to come up, but he doesn't. I start to get nervous that he might have drowned until his head pops out of the water, spitting his mouth full of water at Haymtich.

"I though you drowned!" I yell at him.

"I didn't," he says inocently.

"Don't do that again!" I say.

"Don't do what? Come up or stay down?" He asks innocently.

"Just, don't do that again. You know what I'm talking about," I say as I kick water at him. But of course, he dives in before it can hit him. I sigh and stand up from the waters edge and look around me. Just then I see a lot of monekeys. Not just 5, but too many. They crowd the branches, looking at us curiously.

BOOM!

BOOM!

BOOM!

Who just died? Three people at once?

"Finnick, get out of the water," I say slowly.

"Gosh Clove, always a party pooper," he says, unaware of the monkeys.

"Look up you imbecile," I say. He looks up and his mouth drops. He slowly gets out of the water and comes over to me, trident in hand. I pick up my knife vest very slowly and arm myself. The monkey closest doesn't seem to life that because he growls, showing enormous teeth. Teeth too big for a normal moneky to have.

"Mutts," I hear Haymitch mutter under his breath. I look over to see him armed with an awl and knife.

"Cato, come over here. But be quiet," I say in a sing song voice.

"Clove you told me to get water," he says, not looking up.

"Cato, please, it's important," I say in a sweet voice. Cato looks at me, probably nervous because I said it's important and I never use that voice with him, ever.

"Clove, what is i-" he cuts himself off when the closest monkey mutt to him lifts up his paw and scratches Cato across the cheek. Almost telling him to move away. Cato's face has scratch marks that are bleeding, but he does't scream. He slowly picks up a sword and comes closer to me until his back is touching mine.

"Don't look in their eyes," Finnick warns. I slowly shield my eyes. But out of curiosity I look. Right when I make eye contact it's like a bomb went off. The monkey I was staring at let out a shriek and came rushing towards us. His friends joined. They slid down the tree branches at impossible speeds. I arm myself quickly and look around.

"We need to get to the beach!" I yell. Moneky's can't swim right? A moneky is coming straight at me. I let my knife go and it hits him in the eye. But I can't admire my kill because more monkeys are coming. How ever many we kill, there are always more coming. I throw knife after knife until one monkey comes knocks me down to the ground. It also knocks my knifes to the ground, so now I'm defencless. I look around but they are all fighting. The monkey bares his fangs and is just about to dig them deep into my neck when I hear a shriek and a tribute comes up and tackles the mutt. Once the mutt is off me I can grab my knifes and stab it. It makes a groan and fall limp. I push it off of the tribute. It's a morphling and the monkey ripped out her neck. I feel Cato come close to me.

"Who is that?" Cato asks.

"A morphling, we need to get her to the beach," I say, picking her up. Cato helps me and we run towards the beach. When we get close enough we hop unto the sand into the water. The woman is breathing heavily and grips my hand while she dies.

"It's okay, it's okay," I say, tucking her wet hair behing her ear. The morphling grabs me and breaths heavier.

"It's okay. Look up, isn't it beautiful," I say, looking up at the rising sun. Her breathing starts to slow.

"Don't worry about anything, I'm here. Just look up," I say soothingly. The morphling dips her shaking hand in her own blood and draws on my face.

"It's beautiful," I say, smiling. She smiles and breaths her last breath. Her hand looses and the cannon fires. I let go of her and let her drift out.

"Clove, that was amazing what you did," Cato says, wrapping his arms around me.

"I love you Cato, I thought you died in the acid rain," I say, hugging him.

"I thought you died, I got so scared. It's a good thing that she came up and the moneky attacked her instead of you," he says.

"Wait, the moneky did attack me," I say confused.

"But the morphling was attacked," he says, equally confused.

"Yeah, but before the moneky tackled me and right before it was going to kill me she jumped and tackled it off me," I say. I feel Cato's grip on me tighten.

"That makes no sense," he says.

Wow, long chapter. Reviews would be great.
