Cato POV:
I freeze at the sound of the voice. The hair on my back stands on end and I just sit there. She's dead, I heard her cannon, right? My ears are probably playing tricks on me. But it just sounded so real. I turn around slowly, prepared to be disappointed, but I see her. Sweat and mud are on her face, but she still looks as beautiful as ever. I run over, tears clouding my vision.
"Clove, I thought you were dead! Don't ever do that to me again!" I say, tears running down my face. I hug her and she hugs me back, I feel her tears running down my neck.
"I'm sorry," she says, but it's muffled. I stop hugging her and pull back, wiping the tears from her face. Kissing them away. I take her hand and lead her to the campsite.
"Ow!" she yells in pain. I stop immediately and took at her again. Tears of pain run down her face as she grasps her ankle.
"How'd you do that?" I ask her, alarmed.
"A tribute attacked me," she says, tears still running freely from her eyes. I pick her up bridal style and carry her to the edge of the sea, laying her down.
"What happened?" I ask, tentatively touching her ankle. It was definitely a break, but nothing some capital medicine can't fix.
"Well I was frustrated, so I ran into the forest, then Gloss attacked me," she says. I was infuriated, this was all my fault. If I would have just stayed up and watched her, then none of this could have happened.
"Was that the cannon?" I ask. She just nods. "But you left your knifes here."
"Yeah, well he tackled me and when he pinned me down, I shoved a stick up his eye," she says.
"How'd you get this though?" I ask her.
"He twisted my leg," she says.
"We need to get you some medicine," I say. Just on cue a parachute drops from the sky. I stand up and grab it.
"Inject this into her ankle and wrap these bandages around it," I read the note aloud. I quickly inject her with the fluid because I know she hated needles, and I bandage the ankle. Almost immediately the swelling has gone down.
"Thank you," she says, her voice seemed less strained.
"Can we go now?" Johanna walks over and asks. I give her a glare and I help up Clove. The medicine is amazing and she can walk by herself with barley any pain. I still help her as we travel towards the Cornucopia. When we get to the rocks leading to the Cornucopia me and Finnick each take one side so she doesn't hurt her ankle anymore.
"Princess," Johanna mutters. I snap, I grab her and lift her up so her feet don't touch the ground.
"What was that?" I ask, through my teeth.
"She's a fucking princess," Johanna says.
"Lay off Clove," I snap.
"Lay off her? Lay off her? She's a fucking princess, she gets whatever she wants. She has a fiance and is pregnant and everything is great for her. I tried for a child! I wanted one so bad, but I never got one and I never got my perfect husband, so you know what, she's a spoiled brat and she doesn't even appreciate it!" Johanna screams. I'm so surprised, I set her down slowly. She just storms over toward the Cornucopia, leaving us behind.
"That was not expected," Beetee said, watching Johanna through her glasses.
"I feel bad now," Clove says, rubbing her stomach.
"Don't be," I say, kissing her cheek. "I'll go apologize." I help Clove to the Cornucopia and walk over to Johanna. I sit next to her.
"What do you want?" she asks.
"To apologize," I say.
"For what?" she asks.
"Because I didn't know your life and I'm sorry I yelled at you," I say truthfully. She just nods and I stand up. That's all I can do without her getting too pissed at me. I walk back to Clove. We're relaxing there, looking through the weapons again. Just then I hear a movement, I look around, everyone's sitting. Just then a small knife comes into view, implanting itself in the ground next to me. I jump up, and grab Clove. We both have our weapons and we look around for the attackers. I look around at our alliance, everyone's standing with their weapons. Then a spear comes, it implants itself in my shoulder. I fall to the ground. The pain is overwhelming, but I pull it out. Clove drops to my side and helps me pull it out. When it's out blood comes gushing out of the wound.
"Cato!" she screams, taking her hands and covering the wound, hoping that it'll stop the blood.
"I'm okay," I say, shakily standing up.
"No your not, stay down," she says, ripping off some of her sleeve and giving it to me to cover my wound. I take it and I watch as Clove stands up. I'm afraid that she'll be hit, but she's too experienced. The blood is coming out and I'm starting to feel faint. Black dots are in my vision and then I see black.
