Chapter Fifteen
After a few days of travel Ash and co. reached Lilycove City, which along with Slateport, was the largest port city in Hoenn. The group arrived relatively late, so they stayed at the pokémon center. Over the course of the night, Ash once again had a dream. He was being led into a cave by a Lucario; however, a Rypherior showed up and started attacking Ash. The Lucario shoved Ash out of the way only to be hit by the Rypherior, who then disappeared. Ash then walked over to the Lucario who wasn't breathing which freaked Ash out and caused him to awake. He woke up panting and sweating and then looked around the room to see that everyone was okay. Reassured that everyone was fine, Ash went back to sleep.
The next day, Brock went to buy tickets for the ferry to Canalave and Ash went to go exchange pokémon with Prof. Oak. He kept Pikachu and Gallade and got Gabite, Infernape, Torterra, and Donphan. Ash chose these four because the two Sinnoh leaders were Byron and Volkner. Byron trained steel types and Volkner trained electric types, and both steel type pokémon and electric type pokémon were weak to ground type moves.
After a while, Brock returned with the tickets and the group boarded the ferry and left Hoenn. On the ferry, the quartet relaxed and enjoyed being lazy for once. Although, Ash did spend some time strategizing for the next two gym battles, and Brock planned their route from western Sinnoh to eastern Sinnoh.
"These two cities are on the total opposite ends of the continent!" Brock complained to Ash.
"Well, we can't change the geography."
"I know that, but be prepared for a long walk to get to Sunnyshore."
"Can we take a ferry from Canalave to Sunnyshore?" Ash inquired.
"I'll ask when we get there, but since it's not a region to region trip, there will probably be stops along the way."
"Whatever, we still have time."
"I guess. Let's have fun. Race you to the pool!"
"You're on!"
With that, the duo ran for the pool and relaxed for the rest of the trip to Sinnoh.
-Line Break-
"It's so cold!" Gowly complained to his Lucario as they exited Snowbelle City.
I know Master, but I can't change the weather. Lucario was beginning to get frustrated because the Commissioner had been complaining about this region since the duo got there a few days ago.
"I always wished I had a Rayquaza, so that I could change the weather."
You're beginning to sound like a villain.
"I am not! I just don't like the cold."
Please stop complaining. Besides, we're in the accursed Winding Woods, so in less you want us to get lost, let me concentrate, so I can use my aura.
"You do realize I can use aura too, right?"
I know. But please stop whining about the weather.
"Whining?! The Commissioner of the Pokémon League does not whine!"
You're doing it again.
"When did you become so snarky?"
I'm not snarky.
"Whatever. Can we just get this over with and leave this region?"
I never understood why you hated this region.
"I don't hate it here; it's just so different from the other regions. Regardless, we've arrived at the Village. Can you sense the plate?"
Give me a second. Lucario's aura appendages lifted as he read the aura of the nearby area. There is a powerful aura residing in the cave over there. He pointed in northern direction.
"Indeed, I too sense a powerful aura, which troubles me. The other plates had a powerful aura as well, but this one is almost double."
Agreed.
"There might be more than just the plate in that cave, and if that second being is as strong as a plate of the Original One, then we might be in trouble. I want you to mega evolve just in case."
As you wish. A light surrounded Lucario as he took his mega evolved form.
"Very well then. Let's enter the cave." The duo then proceeded towards the cave opening. As they entered, they didn't see anything, so they went in further. Eventually, the duo saw a tall, feline like pokémon with a pink plate lying behind it. Gowly was shocked because he had never seen such a pokémon before and as Commissioner, he should know every pokémon. However, this pokémon bore a resemblance to Mew.
"Hi there. I don't know who you are, but I don't want to fight. I just want the plate behind you."
Puny human, I am Mewtwo and this plate is mine. Now leave!
"I'm afraid I can't do that." Gowly's eyes hardened. "Now, I will be leaving with that plate. If I have to fight you, I will."
Big words for a human. Face my shadow ball!
No! Lucario jumped in front of Gowly and countered with dark pulse. The shadow ball decapitated, and Mewtwo was hit by the dark pulse. The attack caused Mewtwo to grunt due to pain which shocked both Gowly and Mewtwo. Gowly had deduced that Mewtwo was a psychic type like Mew and therefore should have taken more damage from the super effective dark pulse. Mewtwo was shocked that a Lucario had been able to deal any damage at all. Lucario, in the meantime, fired another dark pulse at Mewtwo who dodged and responded with an aura sphere. Lucario took the attack but wasn't fazed, which also shocked Mewtwo. Just who is this trainer?
Gowly told Lucario to stall while he strategized. This is a very powerful pokémon. How do I beat him? By force? As Lucario was hit and actually faltered, Gowly realized that maybe Lucario wouldn't be able to beat this pokémon alone, so he sent out his Gengar, Galvantula, and Greninja. "Everyone use your super effective moves against that psychic type!" As the battle changed into a four on one, Mewtwo became very distracted and was quickly losing ground. Gowly, in the meantime, sent out his Gardevoir.
"Gardevoir, I don't want you to fight. Use your telekinetic powers to grab that plate. Then, teleport out of here to just outside the cave. I'll meet you outside when this battle blows over, and then, I'll take the plate. Got it?"
Yes Master Gowly.
"Good. Hop to it."
As Gardevoir carried out her task, Gowly once again focused on the battle with Mewtwo. He was shocked that Mewtwo was still standing, albeit barely. Four of my pokémon can't beat this Mewtwo?! How strong is this pokémon? The Commissioner was so caught up in his own musings that he didn't notice two things. First, Gardevoir had successfully obtained the fairy plate and then teleported out of the cave. Second, and probably more important, Gowly failed to notice that Mewtwo had launched an aura sphere at him. Noticing the attack, Lucario shoved Gowly out of the way and took the attack head on. The battle had been taking its toll on Lucario, and this last attack broke the camel's back. Lucario was knocked out.
When Gowly realized this, the cave became quiet. The pure fury radiating from the Commissioner scared everyone in the cave, including Mewtwo. Outside, Gardevoir sighed as she realized that this was about to become a very melodramatic battle. Inside, the Commissioner's usually unflappable pokémon were freaking out. They all recalled themselves to avoid watching Gowly blow up. Mewtwo, for his part, was feeling fear for the very first time in his life. It was an odd experience for him.
"No one, and I mean no one, hurts my Lucario." Gowly seethed out. "You know, I used to be an Aura Guardian, so I can also use certain moves. So meet my dark pulse!" The Commissioner opened both hands and each one released a dark aura which later combined. That one beam then hit Mewtwo squarely in the chest, knocking him out.
After calming down, Gowly rushed to his Lucario. Gowly kneeled by Lucario's side. The pokémon had returned to its regular form and was looking tired and bruised. "I got you. You ok, Lucario?"
I think so Master. What happened to Mewtwo?
"He's been defeated, and we've obtained the plate?"
Where's Mewtwo?
"He's over there on the ground." The Commissioner gestured in Mewtwo's direction.
We should take him back to the Tower and heal him.
"You always were nicer than me. Fine, we'll heal him, and hopefully, we'll be able to figure out where he came from. I've never seen such a pokémon before, and I've traveled the world. But enough of that. You were amazing today Lucario. Return." The Commissioner gently tapped Lucario with his pokéball to recall him. Gowly then smiled fondly at the pokéball before standing and walking towards Mewtwo. He then picked up the pokémon and fireman carried him outside to Gardevoir.
"Well, that battle turned out nastier than I expected it to. But, you have the plate, right?"
I do.
"Good. Keep it with you in your pokéball, and we'll put in in the vault when we get back to the tower." After Gardevoir nodded, Gowly recalled her to her pokéball and then released Salamence. "Time to fly buddy. To the Tower!" With that, Gowly and the unconscious Mewtwo flew on Salamence to Pokémon Isle.
AN: In this world, Aura Guardians can use more moves than just aura sphere. Experienced ones can use any move related to aura: aura sphere, dark pulse, water pulse, heal pulse, and dragon pulse. I justify this because all of these moves gain a boost from the ability Mega Launcher. Please comment on any objections to this idea.
