Chapter 548
On June 6th 2013 billions of people around the world found themselves praying. Pope Francis held a special service in Italy. In different languages and customs they all prayed for deliverance from these disasters. They weren't aware that their fate rested with a small group in Sunnydale California. This group included many races, human and demon. Every remaining potential slayer. They were christian, jewish, muslim, buddhist, hindu, even satanist. Some worshipped gods not aknowledged outside their particular village. Buffy's group had some sense that people were counting on them. Riley believed God wouldn't let the fate of the world be decided in a fistfight between Buffy and the Master. The earthquake that imprisoned him had been God's way of protecting the world. But the real question seemed to be if enough people were willing to sacrifice themselves for this world. The world's fate might depend on numbers.
