Disclaimer: I don't own Pokémon.
AN: Thank you to everyone who has followed or favorited or reviewed. Please keep reviewing! I want to know what you guys think. I know the battles are really fast, but that's just how I write. What about my OC, Gowly? If you think he's too perfect, hust wait til we get to the end of the cup. Oh, and should Ash battle old rivals or your OCs in the actual cup? Let me know in a review! Thanks
Chapter Nineteen
Brock was awed, to say the least. Having never been to Unova before, Brock was speechless as he looked at the Castelia skyline. The city was huge with tall, imposing skyscrapers everywhere. Brock had seen his fair share of big cities before, coming from Pewter and all, but Castelia blew Pewter out of the water. This city was just massive. Ash, on the other hand, was much calmer, since he'd already been there. Pikachu was also calm. Gallade was not. He had never seen such a large place before and was nervous about interacting with such a high number of humans.
Eventually, the quartets' ferry docked. The group then went to the pokémon center since it was late. The next day, Ash and co. departed Castelia and made their way to the smaller, but still large, Nimbasa City.
"Is every city in this region this huge?" Brock asked.
"Not really. Most of the other cities are closer to Saffron in size." Ash responded after thinking about the geography of Unova.
"Whatever. Oh look!" Brock suddenly exclaimed and pointed. "A carnival!"
"We have some time. Do you want to spend the day here?"
"Sure," Brock responded.
With that, the group spent the day riding various rides and roller coasters and eating carnival food. Both Ash's and Brock's pokémon were released, so they also took part in the fun. This constituted as a brief break from the training and battles that they had partaken in up to this point. Ash had been working his pokémon really hard, so it was nice to relax. Granted, everyone knew that they would be battling Clay in the next day in neighboring Driftveil. But for now, everyone was just enjoying themselves.
-Line Break-
The five minutes had long since expired, but Mewtwo still remained in the medical wing of the Tower. Gowly sat across from him, flanked by Lucario and Gardevoir.
"So as you can see, I too have a quarrel with Giovanni." Gowly said as he was concluding his story to Mewtwo. "But I think we can work together. Mew said that you wanted a purpose, right?"
Correct.
"Well, the Original One gave multiple pokémon purposes, including Mew. If we can summon him, he can give you a purpose and wipe out Team Rocket. A double win for you, no?"
I will think about helping you.
"Ok. That's probably why you were drawn to the fairy plate though. It has His residual aura after all. You were drawn to something that could give you a purpose."
I will reflect on this logic. We'll be in touch. With that, Mewtwo stood up and teleported out of the room.
"That went better than I thought it would." Gowly remarked to Lucario as he recalled Gardevoir.
Shockingly so. I thought I would have to battle him.
"All's well that ends well. I guess he'll be monitoring us for a while. Regardless though, I really should head up to my office. Feel free to train with the other pokémon."
Fine.
The duo then headed towards the elevator in silence. After entering, Gowly started to hum along to the elevator music, which caused Lucario to howl. Chuckling, Gowly released all of his pokémon when the elevator reached the training floor. When the doors closed, Gowly stopped smiling and sighed. It was rather difficult to maintain a positive aura with Lucario near, but now, Gowly could finally free his emotions. As he reached his office, he was still reflecting on his various decisions. Gowly was thinking so deeply, that he almost missed his communicator ringing.
"Hello" Gowly finally answered with a false sense of cheerfulness.
"Sir, it's Jackie." The ranger responded.
"Hello Mr. Walker. To what do I owe this pleasure?"
"Ash has eight coins and is now in Unova. He plans on challenging Clay and Brycen soon."
"Good to know. Thanks for keeping me posted. Anything else?"
"His Gabite evolved into Garchomp."
"Good for him. Is that all?"
"Yep."
"Bye then." Gowly hung up before Jackie could get another word in.
Sitting down at his desk, Gowly sighed again as he logged onto his computer. Let's see, I still have to figure out the format of the tournament and the number of contestants. We invited a lot of people, but too many competitors will mean a long tournament which will be boring. Too few competitors and people will feel resentment. The Commissioner was so absorbed in his own thoughts that he failed to realize that he had an incoming call on his computer.
Sir?
"Yes computer?"
You have a missed call from the Johto Champion Lance.
"I must have missed that. Please call him back."
Yes sir.
Gowly put on a happy face as the computer went blank for a few moments before Lance picked up. The red head was still wearing his signature cape and outfit.
"Hello sir."
"Lance," Gowly responded.
"I'll get straight to the point. Our latest intelligence says that Team Rocket knows that various champs and elite four members will be at the Cup. They seem to be pushing through with their plan anyway. In addition, we have no reason to believe that they know that rangers and G-Men will be there. I just thought you'd want to know, since you are the head of the G-Men after all."
"Thank you for informing me, Lance."
"There's more, sir. Our analysts believe that Team Rocket might also use this time to wreak havoc in the regions. Since all the champions and elite four members will be at Pokémon Isle, along with many gym leaders, the actual regions won't be secure."
"I hadn't thought about that. But that's probably why I'm not an analyst. I think we need to have another meeting with the champions to discuss security and the general logistics of the tournament."
"That sounds like a good idea. Do you want me to notify the others?"
"That's okay. I'll pick a date and then notify everyone. Is that all that we have on Team Rocket at the moment?"
"It is."
"Okay then. Anything else you want to talk about?"
"Nothing at the moment, sir."
"Okay. I'll see you at the meeting then. Keep me posted with all the latest intelligence reports."
"Will do. Bye sir."
"Bye Lance," Gowly terminated the call and sighed again. He then re-opened some previously closed files and went back to planning the format of the tournament.
