Chapter 23

The beeping sound of Addie's alarm interrupted her dreams. She had been dreaming about Zoe being safe and happy. The details of where Zoe was were foggy, but Addie knew she was taken care of. She stretched and looked at her clock, groaning when she saw that it was a little before three in the morning. She remembered that they were watching a Jim Henson movie that morning, so she climbed out of bed to grab her PJ's and get dressed really quickly. She then looked over at Sam, who had slept through her alarm. She smiled to herself and grabbed his PJ's before climbing on the bed to wake him up.

"Sammy," she whispered, kissing him. "It's time to wake up." Sam groaned before looking at the clock.

"Three in the morning, really?" He groaned again.

"Jim Henson morning, Sammy." Addie said, reminding him and handing over the Abby PJ's. Sam smiled and quickly got dressed in them, looking down at the pink tank top ruefully.

"I feel like a freaking fruit loop." He muttered looking at Addie with a blush. She smiled at him.

"I think you look cute, Sammy." She said, leaning up to kiss him. He looked at her, he thought she looked pretty cute in her Cookie Monster PJ's too.

"I think you look pretty cute yourself, Dora." Sam said, kissing her back. She smiled at him and led the way out of their room to the kitchen.

"I'm going to make hot chocolate. Will you pop some popcorn?" She asked him. He nodded and went to get the popper and popcorn kernels. He poured in the right amount and turned the popper on, after placing a large bowl underneath the spout to catch the popped goodness. While that was going, he grabbed some butter and began melting it to pour over the top. He watched both the butter and Addie as she pulled down five mugs and began adding hot chocolate mix to them. When she was done with that, she pulled some milk out of the refrigerator and started heating it up. After it was hot enough, she poured it into the cups and stirred, smiling at the pink color. She then grabbed a can of whipped cream and topped each cup with some, adding pink chocolate sprinkles on top.

Sam had finished making the popcorn and put butter and salt on it to carry out to the living room. He also grabbed some bowls so that everyone could share, as he figured they weren't all going to fit on the same couch.

"Sammy, why don't you just split the popcorn into two large bowls, that way we don't have to keep refilling the little ones?" Addie suggested as she arranged the hot chocolate mugs on a tray. Sam looked over at her and grinned sheepishly.

"Beautiful and smart," he commented, making her blush. "I love it." He separated the popcorn and took it out to the living room, followed by Addie who had the hot chocolate. Dean, Phoebe and Paige were already sitting in the living room, chatting when they walked in.

"How was dinner?" Addie asked Dean as she handed him a cup of hot chocolate.

"It was good." Dean said, smiling at the memory. "She's fun to talk to."

"What happened?" Sam asked, raising his eyebrow at his older brother. Dean looked at his siblings, who were wearing matching looks of expectancy. He grinned, wondering how much to tell them. His mind trailed off to think about the night before.

~Flashback~

Paige and Dean walked out to her car. He opened the driver's side door for her and she raised her eyebrow at him.

"What?" He asked, "I can be a gentleman when the occasion calls for it." Paige smiled at Dean and got in the car. He closed the door after her and walked around to the passenger side and got in. Paige smiled softly to herself and started the car before pulling out of the driveway. Dean looked over at Paige, unsure of what to say to start a conversation. He looked over at her and smiled slightly, she looked as nervous as he felt. He didn't really know why he felt so nervous, but it was a scary feeling.

"So, Dean." Paige said, breaking the silence. "Tell me something about yourself."

"Like what?" He asked, confused.

"I don't really know," Paige said. "I was just trying to think of a way to start the conversation and break the awkward silence thing we have going." Dean laughed, and Paige joined in.

"Okay." He said, "my favorite color is Orange."

"Really?" Paige asked, glancing to see Dean's nod. "Mine is Green."

"Green is a very calm color," Dean said. "Addie says it's one of the true neutral colors out there. That, and Brown." Paige smiled at him and he continued, "What is your favorite food?"

"I like Apple Pie," Paige answered. "Addie says you do too."

"Yeah," Dean responded. "Blueberry is my favorite, though. I also like hamburgers and beer."

"I like hamburgers and fries." Paige answered, "I don't really drink a lot, so I usually have soda or mineral water." Dean smiled at her. He didn't mind that she didn't drink, it was her personal preference.

"Addie told me you named her," Paige said.

"Yeah, I did." Dean answered, "on the morning when Dad brought her home, I was so awed at how tiny she was. I remember wanting to protect her from the moment, handed her to me."

"You were six, right?" Paige asked her, glancing over to see him nod. "That's a lot of responsibility to take on so young."

"Sammy was already two, and I had been helping Dad take care of him." Dean explained, "he left us alone at night anyways. I knew I would have no problem taking care of her too."

"I can't really imagine having such a responsibility," Paige said. "I was an only child until I discovered Piper and Phoebe. That was after Prue died, so I never knew her." Dean looked over at her and saw that she really did look sad at not being able to know her oldest sister.

"Can't you summon her like you are planning on summoning our parents and your Grandmother?" Dean asked.

"She hasn't answered whenever Piper or Phoebe try to summon," Paige responded. "Grams told Piper that it was because Prue is too new at being dead. It apparently takes a while to learn how to do it, but we are going to get Grams to help with your parents, it helps when they have an escort."

"Makes sense," Dean said. He looked at Paige for a moment before she spoke again.

"How did you come up with Adora?" She asked.

"One of my favorite TV shows." He answered, she shot him a confused glance and he clarified, "I used to really love He-man and She-ra, She-ra's actual name was Adora. I knew Addie was going to have to be a strong woman to live in our world, so I gave her the name of the strongest woman I could think of." Paige nodded, understanding the logic.

"It's good that she had someone like you to look after her." Paige said, "it makes me wish I had an older brother to look after me when I was a kid." Dean looked at her.

"You have two older sisters now," He said. "That's almost as good." Paige looked at him and nodded as they pulled into the parking lot of the restaurant. The rest of the evening was spent getting to know each other better and ended with Dean realizing that he really liked spending time with Paige. Not just as a younger sister, but as someone that he could see himself with in a long-term kinda basis.

~Present~

"Dean?" Addie was looking at her brother with concern, "is everything okay?" Dean snapped out of the memory of the night before and smiled at his sister.

"Did you say something, Addie?" He asked, smiling at her. She snorted and shook her head.

"If you say so, Dean." Addie said, taking a swallow of her hot chocolate. Dean grinned at her and took a drink of his own. He glanced down at it and frowned slightly.

"Why is it pink?" He asked her.

"It's pink hot chocolate," Addie said. "We use it specially for Jim Henson night. Or morning." Sam snorted, picking up his cup. He then looked at Dean.

"Why aren't you wearing your new PJ's?" He asked, with a grin. Dean looked down at his clothes and grimaced.

"Do I really have to wear light purple?" He whined. Paige and Piper walked in, wearing their PJ's.

"Yep," Paige said. "You said you would."

"Fine I'll wear the Miss Piggy PJ's," Dean grumbled to himself and left the room. After he left, all the girls looked at each other and started to giggle. Five minutes later, Dean came downstairs wearing the PJ's Phoebe had bought for him earlier that day.

"Light purple looks good on you, Dean." Sam said, grinning at his big brother.

"Yeah? And you look good in sparkly pink." Dean retorted, blushing lightly. Paige grinned at him and patted the couch next to her, where he sat down and wrapped an arm around her. He looked up at Phoebe, who was standing there, looking slightly uncomfortable. "Wanna sit here?" He patted the couch and Phoebe sat next to him. Addie and Sam snuggled together on the other couch. Phoebe was about to turn on the DVD when Paige stood up quickly.

"We forgot something." She said, orbing out of the room. She orbed back in with the blankets that matched the girls' PJ's. She handed them out before snuggling back in next to Dean. Phoebe pressed play and they cuddled up together to watch the movie.

As the movie ended, Phoebe looked around to see Sam and Dean passed out. Paige was still curled up under Dean's arm with her head on his shoulder and Addie was sitting in between Sam's legs with her head resting on his chest. Both of them looked really close to drifting back to sleep, so Phoebe just grabbed another movie and put it in. She hadn't really paid attention to the title, but was happy when she saw it was one of her favorite movies, The Princess Bride. She also knew that Addie and Paige liked it too. A few minutes into the movie, Phoebe heard a soft snoring from Paige that was soon echoed by Addie's snores. Phoebe rolled her eyes and settled into the movie, soon drifting off herself, using Dean's free shoulder as a pillow.

Addie woke up first, looking around the living room to see Dean on the opposite couch, snuggled in between Paige and Phoebe. He had on arm around Paige, pulling her into him while Phoebe seemed to be content to use Dean's shoulder as a pillow. As for her, Sam had sat lengthwise on the couch and she was pulled into his lap, with her using his chest for a pillow. She snuggled happily into Sam for a moment before realizing that she had too much energy to stay still. She grinned and wiggled her way free of Sam's arms before going into the kitchen to make breakfast for everyone. She decided that everyone equally loved omelettes, so she started making those. She noticed that they were out of bacon, and as she dug through the refrigerator, a lot of stuff. She shrugged, since Piper was out-of-town for a couple of weeks, she figured she could do the shopping. She'd ask Dean to take her later that day, or even better, she'd ask to borrow his car. She smiled to herself as she began slicing mushrooms and browning sausage for the omelettes. A pair of arms rapping themselves around her waist startled her.

"I was wondering where you'd gone off too." Sam said, pressing a good morning kiss behind her ear.

"Just making breakfast, Sammy." She replied, turning her head to give him a proper kiss. "I thought we'd all like some omelettes."

"Or we could have scrambled eggs with stuff in them," Sam suggested. "Then you won't have to do as much work." Addie shrugged and added the sliced mushrooms to the almost cooked sausage.

"That's a good idea," she replied. She grabbed a spatula and started turning the mixture in the pan, keeping it from burning. "Could I get you to grate some cheese for me please?"

"With pleasure, my love." Sam said grabbing the cheese Addie had pulled out, a bowl and the cheese grater. He stood there next to her, grating cheese in his sparkly P.J. pants that he still thought made him look like a fruit loop, because he loved her and knew that his little bit of discomfort would make her happy. She was happy because she knew he loved her enough to do silly things or at least things he considered silly because he loved her. She glanced over at Sam and realized that he really did make pink look good. That thought sent a flush to her cheeks as she started breaking eggs into a bowl.

"I love you, Sammy." She said, looking at him. He looked back at her and put the cheese down.

"I love you too, Dora." He pulled her close to him and kissed her. "I am the luckiest man in the world to have you. You are beautiful, strong and intelligent. I just can't believe that you agreed to be mine."

"I've always been yours, Sammy. I will always be yours." She leaned into him, "Thank you for loving me as much as I love you." Sam felt tears in his eyes and wrapped his arms around Addie's waist pulling her in.

"I love you more," he whispered to her.

"Well then, I love you most." She answered with a laugh. He looked at her with a twinkle in his eye as he resumed grating cheese for her.

"That, my love, is something we are going to have to agree to disagree on." He said, laughter clear in his voice. She grinned at him and started beating the eggs. Sam smiled as he finished the cheese and moved onto making toast. Addie grinned at him as she drained the sausage and mushrooms to add the eggs. As they were cooking, Phoebe came in, rubbing the sleep out of her eyes.

"Good morning, everyone." She said, brightly moving around to make coffee.

"Morning, Pheebs." Addie said, happily stirring the eggs. "What are you doing today?"

"No plans, Addie. Why?" Phoebe asked.

"I need some help with that issue we were working out the other day," Addie said. "You know, the one with the thing?"

"The thing at the place, or the other thing at the park?" Phoebe asked, smiling at her while measuring the coffee grounds into the basket.

"Yup," Addie responded.

"I can help you with that today." Phoebe giggled. Addie smiled at her sister, glad that she was so quick to pick up on her subtle hint. Sam looked confused at the two.

"I'm guessing something girl-related?" He asked.

"Yep," Phoebe answered. Sam pouted slightly at the thought of spending any time away from Addie. He finished making the toast and took it out to the table and came back in to grab plates and forks. He smiled at Addie before heading back out to the dining room. Addie pulled the eggs off the heat and added the cheese, covering them with a lid so it would melt.

"I want your help getting Sammy's birthday present." Addie said to Phoebe. "I also want to get some groceries and just have some chat time." Phoebe nodded and pulled out five mugs for the coffee. She put sugar in cream in the cups of those who liked it and poured the coffee for everyone. After stirring the coffee, she placed the mugs on the tray to carry to the table while Addie checked the meltiness of the cheese. Determining that it was melty enough, she scooped the eggs into a serving dish and carried it out to the table.

Sam was sitting at the end, an unhappy look on his face. Addie's face fell as she realized he didn't want to share breakfast with her that morning. She looked around to see that Dean and Paige were still in the living room. Phoebe looked and noticed it as well. She nodded to Addie, indicating that she would go get them, and left the room. Addie sat down in the chair closest to Sam.

"Are you upset with me?" She asked, confused at why he was sitting at the end of the table.

"No," he said. His tone betrayed his sadness and anger, "why would I be angry?"

"I don't know," she answered him honestly. "That's why I asked." Sam just made a disbelieving sound and turned away.

"What's the thing Phoebe needs to help you with?" He asked, "why is it so secretive that you couldn't say what you were doing?"

"We are going shopping." Addie said, confused. "I noticed the fridge was running low on supplies. Plus, I wanna ask her to be my Maid of Honor, and I thought that should be something we do alone." Sam looked at her in surprise, wondering why he was so upset that she was going to just spend time with Phoebe. He stood up and pulled her into his arms.

"I'm not mad, Dora." He said, "I was hurt that you seemed to want to spend time away from me when I just got you back, but I'm not mad at you." She smiled at him.

"I don't want to spend time away from you, Sammy." She said, "I love being with you, but I need to spend the day with Phoebe, and maybe Paige." He nodded and took the seat next to her. He grinned at her and started dishing eggs and toast onto a plate for them. She smiled and grabbed a fork.
