I was going to update earlier but someone I know in real life *Cough ccarney Cough* is following the story and they caused the delay. Mostly because I wanted to make him wait. So you can blame him for me not updating for…...how long has it been? Ten days? Twenty? I don't know.
Chris: May 20th. May has 31 days and it is June 10th. So twenty-one days.
Kitkat: And whose fault is that? I actually had Larissa's part done earlier but forgot to post it. Since it was short, I combined it with Sophie's part.
Larissa
I wasn't sure what to think about what I saw. Purple flames covered Sophie's hands and her blonde hair turned pitch black. A violet light surrounded her entire body as she aimed the flames at the bear. The beast roared as he stood up on his hind legs.
I knew a daughter of Persephone would've been able to handle a normal bear, which meant Sophie had been right. Demeter must have been behind it. I was so wrapped up in my thoughts I didn't even notice the bear turning into golden dust.
"It was a monster," Sophie stated. I blinked and nodded in agreement. "You okay?"
I smiled and wrapped my arms around her impulsively. I felt her relax and return the embrace. "I didn't know you could do that." Sophie chuckled nervously and stepped back after a few seconds.
"It's a hidden power my dad has a hard time controlling. That's why my parents had to send me away. If word got out that I could do it so easily….." She stopped talking. I knew as well as she did the gods would either kill her or use her for their own benefit.
"Sophie!"
We both turned to see Nico and Will as they ran toward us. Sophie's eyes lit up as her brother hugged her tightly. I waved at Will, who seemed a bit out of breath. "You two okay?"
"Not exactly. A monster disguised as a bear tried to attack Lari and me," Sophie responded. I felt my face flush at the nickname. But before I could think about it anymore, Nico's face turned serious as he began to speak.
"We ran into some trouble too," Nico looked like he wanted to say more but decided against it. "We should hurry up and try to find that Gilgamesh."
"Do you think that's really all we need to do? I mean what about Death's Fire or that Eternal Power stuff?" I asked. "Prophecies are complicated. Who knows what that means," Will replied.
I sighed internally. I had a feeling something bad was going to happen.
Sophie
I couldn't have been more confused. Larissa hadn't been scared of me. At least, she didn't act like was. When Nico and Will showed up, I hadn't been able to gauge her reaction. But Larissa had hugged me. She hadn't back away in fear or refused to touch me. As much as I wanted to sit and think about it, I had to listen to Nico as he told us what happened.
"When we got separated after the earthquake, Will and I tried to make our way back but there was a lot of wreckage and some big trees that fell down. Then Will had the great idea to try and find a new path back to you two." - Nico
"It wasn't that great." - Will
"Let me compliment you, okay? Anyways, as we were walking, a bunch of butterflies swarmed over to us. And the stupid bugs wouldn't go away. I-" Nico stopped when Larissa said that butterflies were stupid. I may not have remembered everything I learned about Psyche but I did recall reading a Greek mythology book that said Psyche's favorite animal was butterflies. "Let me finish! I was about to send them to the Underworld when I remembered your mom was connected to them or something like that."
"That's when we noticed they were kind of flying in one general area. When we walked over to them, they all began to fly in one direction. We followed them and ended up here," Will finished.
"Mom must have sent them to help you find us," Larissa stated. I nodded in agreement. "So what direction should we head for?"
"Eenie, Meenie, Miney, Mo,
Catch the soul of a foe,
If it screams,
Don't let it go,
Eenie, Meenie, Miney, Mo."
I pointed my finger at the four main directions (North, East, South, and West) and landed on North. Larissa gave me a face which was a mix of confusion and amusement. I felt my face flush as I realized I had used the Underworld version of Eenie, Meenie, Miney, Mo. Nico laughed as he walked past me. Will gave me a sympathetic pat on the back before he followed my brother.
I ran to catch up to Larissa and shot my brother a dirty look as I walked side-by-side with the daughter of Psyche. I opened my mouth to say something, most likely along the lines of 'I never learned the real version of that rhyme' or 'my brother paid me fifty drachmas to say that' but then I heard a rustle that came from one of the bushes next to me.
I turned and saw something that made me feel both sick and terrified. A serpent.
In the book where I learned about Psyche and her butterflies, I also learned about the other main gods and goddesses animals symbols/favorites. And I distinctly remembered that one particular goddess loved serpents and often used them for her dirty work.
That goddess was Demeter.
AN: Hope you guys enjoyed!
