Here I am! Again! I should be getting a yay from all of you! Three chapters in one day is pretty good for me! XD You should all love me for this! ;)
Tears. That was all. Tears. Remorse. Depression. Misery. Sadness.
Everyone wept when it was announced their future queen was dead. Her death was sudden and no accident; Zalim swore vengeance on whoever was responsible. New fear hung over the island as well as the depression; for the few weeks Raz had been present on the island, the residents were happy. No hard labor and food for all, the sky full of sunshine and stars at night. No one had been called into his palace to be executed. She'd significantly softened his heart, it seemed. He'd been kind to them. But now, undoubtedly, he'd become cruel again. And the hard iron-fisted, heartless rule would come again.
Zalim felt numb as he lay Raz down. He'd undone the effects of the Moonshine poison, so she looked herself again. Her skin turned to its regular peachy pink so she once again looked violet. Her eyes became gold again, but, beautiful as they are, it only brought him pain to look at them. They were cold, glassy, and glazed; the emotionless stare of death. Tears had fallen off his face and onto hers as he closed her eyes with his own two fingers.
He lay here on a long golden alter, raised above the ground. It was engraved with many scenes of beauty and serenity; the perfect final resting place. A single beam of sunlight came through the black clouds and rested on her face. A smile somehow was laid across her lips, so it looked as if she were merely sleeping. She'd been adorned with simple but beautiful jewelries; bracelets, necklaces, and rings. A circlet of gold lay on her head, as well as a wreath of flowers. From her waist down she was covered with a delicate blanket made entirely of rose petals, and her hands lay intertwined atop them, resting on her abdomen. The entire island, as well as much of the magic world, had worked to decorate her clearing perfectly. The Thunder Riders had place a rainbow directly above her, arching just above her. The Lady of Spring had planted a thousand rose bushes, but the blooms were a gorgeous silver in color. The Duchess of Dryads had enchanted all the trees to bear fruit and beautiful flowers. The Summer Sprites had gifted the clearing eternal sunlight, so no matter the time, people could look on and admire the beauty of the poor deceased queen. The Star Princess had sprinkled her with stardust so she sparkled magically. And everyone mourned together.
Zalim approached her resting place with misty eyes. Opal already stood beside it, sobbing heavily, but he didn't question her. He knew she and his wife had been quite fond of each other. Opal deserved to be there too.
She gazed up at him with big eyes as she still cried, big brown eyes begging. "I- Isn't there a- a- anything you can do-o?" she choked out. "Y- You're magic."
His expression soured further. "I am, child. But no amount of magic can undo death." She sobbed louder after that.
He raised his hands solemnly, and they began to glow with white light and power. Closing his eyes, he forced his heart beat to a stop. Why bother; his heart was frozen again. He slowly swept his hands over Raz's form, starting at her head and traveling downward, pushing his magic into her. This would preserve her form, so she would forever reside here. Or at least, a part of her would.
At last the painstaking feat was done. Shaking with depression, he settled in the grass beside her, wanting more than anything to see her eyes flutter open. He wouldn't care if she slapped him, punched him- he'd even take her threat to tear out his throat. If only she wasn't gone.
He was slightly surprised when Opal stumbled up and collapsed on his leg, still sobbing. He didn't question her though; she was so young, with such an emotional burden- he felt as if he might collapse too. Instead of punishing her with death as he might have months ago, he slowly reached down, knowing no one was watching, too busy with their own tears, and picked her up. She gripped his thumb in desperation for a hug. He let her lie again his chest awhile, stroking her trembling form, silent tears sliding from his own eyes. The feeling, the emotion of pure misery struck him for the first time, ever. For the first time in his five thousand year life, he felt remorse. Regret. Depression. Pure and utter sadness.
And he didn't like it.
…
Halfway through the journey, Savas lost all signal from her. Her life energy was… gone? How?! "Hold on!" they all stopped, hovering in the air above the sea.
"Yes Sivas?" asked Avci. "What is it?"
"Her life energy! It- its vanished!" alarmed, confused cries came up from his brothers.
Avci held up a hand for silence. "Are you sure?"
"Yes… I had her pinpointed, an island due south. But her life aura…"
Avci's eyes widened. "You don't think she-"
He nodded gravely.
Avci's face hardened and he threw one fist down to his side, making waves roar in the ocean below. "Oh blast it all!"
"Is there a chance we can still save her?" Hayat asked.
"If we don't drive there in five minutes, no!"
Avci frowned. "Then we'll have to travel sea." Water was his easiest element to control, it bent to his will the easiest. If he could get them onto something solid he could quite easily propel them to that island in second, but…
"Hey! What about that?" He looked. They couldn't see it well from their height, but it was probably decent sized. He calmed the waves with a snap of his fingers, and as the object became still, he nodded. "It will do. Everyone to that ice berg! We have little Time to find and a life to salvage!" and the six brothers dove for the ice formation.
Wow! Three chapters in one day! Am I on a role or what?! Please review!
