Surprise, look who's here! Today is the last Friday of my school year! Yay!

Opal carefully raised her wand-scepter, watching it light up. "Wh… What should I do first?"

"Anything you want, my dear."

"Ok…" thrusting out her wand, she watched, amazed, as a stream of pure white magic burst out and touched the wall. India toy, gold like liquid spread over the walls, encasing the room so it all shimmered. "Wow!"

"Quite the impressive display." He granted. "Now, how about design yourself a crown, my dear?"

Beaming, she let her scepter gather more power and put it over her head, drawing a circular motion, and felt something solidify on her head. She granted herself a full body morrow just her size, and admired the platinum band on her head, with a single heart shaped white opal at the very center. "Amazing!" swiping the wand down over her body, she experimented to make herself look more like the princess she now was. She gave herself a pretty bracelet on one wrist, and a ring on her opposite hand. Giving herself a pretty pink silk cloak that flowed and shimmered beautifully, she zapped a pendant onto her neck, gold with another heart shaped opal dangling on it. "Well?" she spun in a circle, her magenta cape swishing, holding her arms out to the side. "How do I look?"

"…Just as beautiful as my Raz will on our wedding day, I imagine."

She giggled and blushed, looking down and fiddling with her scepter. "Well… th- thank you."

His smile was minimum and sad. "You're quite welcome dear. Now" he stood up, and she magically floated down from the bed. "I can see that you are eager to practice your magic further, correct?"

"Oh, yes!" she gushed, twirling around. "This is so amazing! I can't thank you enough!"

"No thanks needed, my new Daughter. Go, find yourself somewhere to practice. New magic can be, ah… unpredictable."

Opal went back to her meadow from before, all the while clutching her scepter. As soon as she arrived, she thrust it out and sent out a beam, and a daffodil grew to a huge size, the blossom bending to the ground. Giggling, she rushed forward and lay down inside, pulling a petal off to use as a blanket. They were cushiony and soft like velvet. "Ooh…" sighing, she breathed in deeply, the sweet flowery scent filling her nose. She hugged herself, humming. She just couldn't believe it! Not only had she just been adopted, but she was… she was part of the power. She had magic! She had a new father, a new home. She fingered her pretty new silk cloak; even a new look. She hoped Raz would be proud.

"Raz…" she sighted. "Oh Raz, if you can here me please don't worry. Its all going to be ok, I'm going to save you. I promise." She hugged her arms. "And if I live, we can be a family, together."

"Woooah there girlie, and what makes you think that?!"

She squeaked in surprise, hopping up to her feet. Squint stood there, arms crossed, his expression a mix between disbelief and a tad bit of annoyance. "Well" she fluffed out her cape. "Zalim says so. When he and Raz wed-"

"They aren't getting married!" he insisted.

"They are! And when they do, me and Raz and Zalim and Lela will all be a family!"

"Yeah, not likely." He quipped angrily. "As soon as she's back she's coming home with us!"

"No!" gasped Opal in horror. "No, I won't let you!"

Squint laughed. "You won't let me. A tiny squirt like you is gonna stop a bunch of pirates from taking their sister back?"

"Yes!" she proclaimed, feeling confident. "I won't let you take my new sister away from me!"

"You guys stole her first! We're taking her back!"

"No you're NOT!" she screamed. "I won't let you, Zalim won't let you! I won't let you ruin my new family! Raz is staying HERE!" without thinking, she thrust out her wand, and suddenly, Squint lifted up into the air.

"H- How're you doing this?! I- I thought you were normal!"

"I was!" she said, glaring angrily at him. "But Zalim has made me a member of his family, and he'll do the same for Raz they marry! He's gifted me magic, and I'll use it to the end of my LIFE to make sure my friend. Stays. HERE!" with that loud shriek, she flung her arm to the side, sending Squint flying to the left and into the foliage.

Opal panted a moment, feeling angry and energized… before promptly dropping to her knees and bursting into tears.

Squint came back after just a moment, clutching his knife and ready to turn the brat into mincemeat… however, when he arrived, he didn't see the powerful new sorceress. She was that theoretical little girl again, sobbing hysterically and hugging her new wand. As soon as he came within five feet of her, she sprang up, swiping at her eyes. "No no… s- stay back!" she insisted shakily, backpedaling. "I'll hurt you again."

"It didn't hurt." He managed to laugh. "Just kinda surprised me, I guess."

"I- I'm so sorry!" she wailed. "I just don't want you to tale Raz away from me! She- She' the closest thing I've ever had to a sister! Please" she whimpered. "I… my magic, its unstable, I think. I don't wanna hurt you… I- I didn't even realize that I he…"

"Hey, its cool." He inched closer still. "I get the same way during a battle. Its actually kinda fun!"

She managed a weak little giggle despite her still heavily-flowing tears. "You have that kind of problem?"

"Well, I wouldn't call it a problem-"

"Raz says you go crazy during a fight. Like you can't stop?"

"…Ok, did she give you my entire biography or something?"

Opal laughed, wiping an arm across her face, trying to dry her eyes. She sniffled. "Well, no.. but she has told me a lot about you. I think you're her favorite brother."

Squint looked startled. "I… am?"

She nodded. "I don't think she'd ever say it, but I could tell, the way she talked about you… she even said, once, when she was a very small child, she 'idolized' you. Whatever that means…" before Squint could comment further, she asked "Can you help me?"

"Uh… with what, exactly?"

"Well, you're older than me, so you must know more. So, since I kinda just let my magic take a hold of me, can you teach me to control it?"

And here we go! Opal's about to get magic lessons, it seems! Please review!
