Chapter 30: Search For the Seven Magical Dragonballs Part Two
Vegeta and I had finally came to a stop in the middle of a desert with pyramids standing in a couple of places. The prince gave me a look and sighed.
"What's with the attitude Vegeta?" I asked. "I already said I was sorry, geez..."
"I know that brat." He growled. "It's just that I had to be stuck coming with you. It be a lot faster if I went and got the dragonballs myself."
"Yeah, of course." I whisper with disbelief. "Follow me, I can sense one of them in this place."
I began walking to the entrance, but then Vegeta had tugged me back over to where he was. "What was that for?!"
"Look for yourself."
Suddenly, one of the pyramids began to lift out of the sand. It rose in the air and settled down about one hundred yards away. Vegeta stopped concentrating and opened his eyes.
"Look where the pyramid was," Vegeta told me. I did as I was told and let my jaw drop in surprise. Where the pyramid had been was a funnel-like hole. The pyramid had been above it. Hieroglyphics covered a square foot near the hole. The prince and I descended to the hole. "Do you know what this says?" Vegeta asked.
"How am I suppose to know?" I reply clueless.
"Didn't you study this with Kakarot's eldest son, Gohan?"
"Are you insane?!" I questioned. "Even if I did there's no WAY i'd ever be able to read this!"
"Well, i'm going to enter!" Vegeta decided and began his descent into the hole. I followed suit with extreme caution. Beneath the hole was a long corridor. I found an unlighted torch and lit it.
"Be careful where you step," I warned Vegeta. "There might be booby traps in these old tombs."
Vegeta looked back. "Don't you think I know that already?! Besides, booby traps couldn't stop me."
"It looks like we've hit a dead end," I declared. We had been walking for about half an hour, and aside from a spiked ceiling and a trapdoor, it had been uneventful. Now we had hit a wall of solid stone. I rapped gently on the wall. "It's thin," I remarked. "There must be a room on the other side."
"Get out of the way," Vegeta ordered. He began to charge a blast.
"Hold on a second!" I accidentally yelled, causing the place to start shaking. I covered my mouth and waited until the rumbling stopped.
"Anything else you need to yell?" Vegeta asks with irritation.
"I'm sorry." I whisper. "We can't be too careless okay? We might end up accidently destroying that dragonball in there."
The saiyan male frowned before planting his hand on the center of the wall, then pulled it back to strike. However, before he could do so, the wall slowly swung away.
"What the . . . ?" I wondered aloud. Vegeta shrugged. We walked in. It was a long room, but it seemed empty. I looked to see that the three star dragonball was next to a treasure chest. We began to slowly walk towards the ball. Suddenly, my foot caught a loose brick and I tripped. Vegeta stopped and looked at me when there was a roar. The ceiling in front of us opened and a humanoid mass of stones dropped down.
"Looks like it's my lucky day." Vegeta interjected. "I'll be able to get a match in."
The stone giant swung a huge fist at the two of us. The saiyan prince and I leaped away.
Vegeta looked over at me. "Stand back and let me handle this!" he stated. "I'm powering up!" Vegeta spread his legs and brought his elbows to his waist, fists up, and almost yelled before I stopped him..
"No you're not!" I spoke loud enough for him to hear. "You'll cause this whole place to collapse. Also, you know powering up is completely unnecessary."
I threw my arm out and released an energy sword then proceeded to slice and kill the stone giant into many pieces before blasting it with a low powered ki blast.
A strange glow emanated from the hole. After a few seconds, I doubled over. "Vegeta! I think I'm going to be sick!"
"Darn it all!" Vegeta exclaimed. "I think it was radioactive! Tania, you're getting radiation sickness! Saiyans who still have tails are extremely weak against radioactivity!"
"You could've told me this earlier." I whined as I ran toward the dragonball. When I reached it, I promptly vomited. Vegeta landed next to me.
"We'd better hurry and get out of here," Vegeta said. "We can't let you get sicker." My arms were trembling as I reached for the dragonball. I then looked at the treasure chest next to it and opened it. Inside was a sword.
"What are you doing?" Vegeta asked impatiently. "Lets go already!"
"Look, why I-is there a sword in here?"
Vegeta grabbed the sword, which was in its sheathe and pulled. Immediately, electric bolts had surged out of the thing and violently pushed Vegeta through a wall.
The place instantly began to break down and using the little time I had, I picked up the sword and flew out of the pyramid as fast as I could after grabbing onto Vegeta's arm.
When we made it outside, my vision had began to blur as the radiation sickness had gotten worse from being by the stone giants remains for too long. I looked over to Vegeta who looked like he was ready to kill me and destroy the sword.
I smiled and within a second, I collapsed onto the the burning sand.
My eyes opened to see that I was on somebody. I was still very sick and weak, but I could tell that Vegeta had putted me on his back, taking me to where everyone else was. He was carrying the dragonball along with that sword I had found on top of his head. I chuckled a little bit as I wandered how those items could rest on top of his spiky hair.
"Thanks Vegeta." I say as we continued to fly throughout the clouds.
Vegeta glanced at me, but didn't say anything. I layed my head back down and waited till we got to the lookout.
Dende had let the barrier down and allowed Vegeta and I to enter.
"There you guys are!" Bulma says. "We've been waiting for a while. We all managed to find the dragonballs."
I noticed Gohan walking up to me after Vegeta had set me down.
"Are you alright Tania?" He asked. "You don't look well."
"Don't go too close to her." Vegeta warned him.
"Why not?"
Once again, I had vomited. Only this time it had gotten all over Gohan's gi.
He had stood up and took off the upper part of his gi and tossed it someplace else. "She's sick? but how?"
"We were fighting against a stone giant who's radiation got the best of her." The prince replied.
"You don't mean radiation sickness do you?" The young boy asked with concern.
The older saiyan nodded. "She should feel better in a few hours."
I witnessed as Gohan saw the blade we had brought back. He grabbed onto it. "A sword. Wait, there's something written on it, but I can't read it."
"Let me see." Bulma says while walking up to Gohan. The boy gave it away and Bulma's eyes widened.
"This can't be!" She says shocked. We all looked at her curiously.
"It's written in some other language. Luckily I can read it though." The blue haired woman claimed. "It reads: Pure as snow, Beautiful as a river filled with gems and diamonds, this sword will be wielded by whoever has the heart for it. Filled with love and kindness, the person to wield this sword will receive incredible strength and power. Whoever shall pull out the sword from its sheathe will be destined to cross the galaxies soon for an important purpose..
"Amazing..." I comment while still struggling to stand up. Gohan had wrapped one of my arms around his shoulder while he pulled me close to him with his other arm to support me. "I'd like to give it a shot."
"No way." Gohan disagreed. "Your sick, after you get better then we'll see if one of us is the destined one."
"But Gohan." I whined.
Gohan frowned sadly. "I want you to feel better first alright? I don't want anymore problems to arise."
His coal-black eyes was filled with worry. I eventually gave in and rested on a bed that he brought me to. "Hey um, Gohan?"
"Yeah."
"The dragonballs..." I began to speak, beginning to remember that I had given Gohan one of those things a while ago. However I wasn't exactly sure if I did or not.
"Did I give you a dragonball a while back or am I just thinking too much?"
There was a huge smile that appeared on his face. "Yeah you did." He answered. "In fact it was the four star ball. Are you starting to remember things, Tania?"
"Not really, just that to tell you the truth."
Gohan smiled. "I'm glad to know that."
I returned the smile and pulled the covers over my face. My heart keeps beating... Could I be actually be...
"Well, i'm gonna let you rest here until you get better." Gohan says as he began to walk away.
I pulled the covers off of me and pulled onto his arm. He looked back at me.
"I um..." I muttered, not really knowing what I was feeling or doing. "I want you to lay down with me.."
"You're sick though."
I held tighter onto his arm. Gohan smiled after he had seen that my face was red.
"Alright, you win."
Gohan softly layed down next to me. He then gently positioned my head against his chest and ran his fingers through my hair.
His heart is beating even faster than mine. Why do I feel this way towards him? I know he told me that my memory was erased, but how is it that i'm feeling this way? It has to be true that it did, otherwise I wouldn't be experiencing this emotion the way I am.
"I really love you." Gohan whispers in my ear, before him and I fall asleep in one anothers embrace.
