Moving forward a couple of weeks to Amy's trip, some of this chapter will be a little Sheldon orientated and a little bit angsty
While Amy was away on her lecturing tour, Sheldon had his friends over to the apartment every night, luckily for Leonard this did not cause a problem with Penny as she was working evenings at the Cheesecake Factory, but one night Leonard realised that Sheldon was unhappy after he took a video game defeat badly and chose to speak to him
"Have you heard from Amy since she has been gone? Asked Leonard going to the kitchen to make them both some tea
"Yes we speak every night"
"And is she enjoying it?
"Yes, she says talking and presenting her work is very fulfilling and has made lots of new contacts"
"Well that's good isn't it? Asked Leonard as Sheldon joined him in the kitchen
"I suppose but it just takes her further away from me"
"What do you mean?
"She's already holding me at arms length and I feel like I am just an afterthought to her sometimes" replied Sheldon easing himself on to the stool
"Don't be silly, she clearly adores you, despite all of your quirks"
"She still doesn't want me to live with her though, Leonard can you stay here tonight and tomorrow?
"I will have to bring Penny if that's ok"
"Sure, whatever" Sheldon slumped down in his seat
"I thought you wanted to live on your own?
"I thought so too and it's not all it's cracked up to be"
"Which means what? Leonard was confused
"It means that I would prefer to have somebody in the apartment than to be alone" replied Sheldon
"Wait, are you actually admitting you miss me?
"Well when you put it like that then yes" replied Sheldon taking the tea from Leonard
"Then you need to speak to Amy and see if you can move in with her, you already spend the weekends at her house, a few more nights wont be any hardship to her I am sure" replied Leonard
"That's the thing, I made a big deal about living on my own and Amy agreed that I should and she wants me to try it for at least 6 months before she will consider me moving in, how am I supposed to get round that?
"Sheldon your smart, I am sure you will find a way, let me just text Penny to come here and I will get our nightclothes" replied Leonard leaving Sheldon sitting on his own
With Leonard and Penny staying the night, Sheldon thought it would make him feel comforted but he realised it wasn't them he wanted with him, he was maintaining everything was ok when he spoke with Amy on Skype and on her last day there, they spoke and Amy said that because she wouldn't be getting back until late afternoon that they cancel date night and have date night on Thursday instead and that she had arranged something special, Sheldon expressed his displeasure at this and Amy pointed out she was tired so Sheldon had no choice but to accept her reasoning
On Thursday, with Amy back to work Sheldon came by her lab at lunchtime, hoping to see her as she had meetings in the morning, she however was with two students and teaching them how to dissect brains, Sheldon waited a while until he realised that Amy wasn't going to stop, he cleared his throat noisily making everybody stop
"Hi Dr Cooper, is there a problem? Asked Amy taking her gloves off
"No, I was hoping we could talk in private actually"
"Sorry as you can see I am in the middle of a lesson but come by at 5pm and we can go straight to our date, I hope you brought something suitable like I mentioned?
"Yes of course" Sheldon hovered awkwardly next to Amy while she watched her students working
"Good, see you later" Amy patted him on the arm and gave him a warm smile before turning back to her students
Sheldon spent a frustrating afternoon getting not very much done, at 430 he changed into his suit that Amy had suggested he get and went to Amy's lab, he however forgot to knock and walked in on Amy changing, she was naked except for her underwear, Amy jumped at the noise of the door opening and quickly covered herself until she realised it was Sheldon
"Sorry Amy, I should have knocked" said Sheldon not taking his eyes off Amy's curves
"Yes you should of but it doesn't matter, lock the door will you" replied Amy reaching for her skirt to put on
"Wait" said Sheldon leaving Amy standing frozen with one leg in her skirt
"What?
"I was just enjoying the view" Sheldon continued to eye up the half naked Amy while she continued getting dressed
"There will be an even better one soon enough" replied Amy smiling at him
"What does that mean?
"You will see, let me just get ready and I will be with you" replied Amy
"How was your day? I wish you had let me see you yesterday"
"I was tired, it was an enjoyable trip but tiring, I wanted an evening to myself for once" replied Amy taking a brush to her hair
Apparently this was all Sheldon needed, he stepped forward and took Amy in his arms and kissed her hard on the mouth, Amy didn't respond for a second but dropped the brush and groped his butt as they made out for a few minutes
"Welcome back Dr Fowler" Sheldon ended the kiss but kept hold of Amy
"Thank you, come on lets go"
Amy tried to extract herself from Sheldon's arms but found herself being led to her chair and onto Sheldon's lap, he brought her close again and kissed her again, letting his hands wander over her body, Amy tried hard to resist but gave in until she realised the time
"I meant it when I said we had to go" Amy jumped off Sheldon, grabbed her bag and jacket and waited for Sheldon to leave so she could lock her door
"You didn't say where we are going" said Sheldon as they walked down the hall to the exit and the car park
"That's because it's a surprise" replied Amy
"You know I don't like surprises Amy"
"Well this one is a nice one" replied Amy as they reached her car and set off
20 minutes later they arrived at their destination, Sheldon realised that the surprise was a nice one but he was also confused
"Why are we at the Zoo, it's closed now for visitors"
"I know but if you make a donation to the Zoo, they will allow you to have the park to yourself for a couple of hours, I thought you would like that" replied Amy
Amy took out her mobile and had a quick conversation with somebody and within a few minutes, they were greeted at the gate by a lady calling herself Louise who after unlocking the gate spoke to them
"Hello and welcome to Los Angeles Zoo, please follow me" Louise waited while Amy and Sheldon stepped in and locked up again
"Is she our guide? Asked Sheldon to Amy
"For now, yes" replied Amy as Louise took them to a nearby jeep
"I thought we were taking a walk around the park? Sheldon was confused again
"Oh we are, but first there is something else I have planned" replied Amy
The Jeep set off and Amy made Sheldon wear a blindfold until they reached the location she had chosen and helped him out and guided him to a spot, then took the blindfold off, Sheldon after adjusting his eyes to the light was pleasantly surprised when he saw there was a table set up with two chairs and two place settings, they were also in the middle of the deer park with some deer milling around them
"The deer will approach you and I have left their regular deer feed in the bucket next to the table, so please give them that only, I will leave you both alone and you can ring me when you are done" Louise nodded at them and left
"How did you arrange all this when you were at work? Asked Sheldon opening up the hamper to discover cake and flans and pies, next to the hamper was an ice bucket with wine and juice cooling
"It was easy enough, anyway please take a seat" said Amy holding Sheldon's chair out for him
"Thanks"
They moved the seats so they were sitting next to each other and enjoyed a feast of food, sometimes playfully feeding each other and the deer when they came close and taking selfies, when the sun started to set Amy took pictures of that with her and Sheldon, Amy felt happy that she was with Sheldon and declared so too
"This is fun isn't it" announced Amy as they sat holding hands watching the deer
"Yes, although I think it tops my date night for you"
"Good, I don't like to be beaten" replied Amy as they shared a lingering kiss
"I'm sure I can think of something better" said Sheldon as he put his arm around Amy and she leaned into him despite the chairs in the way
"Sheldon I love you" said Amy suddenly and instantly regretting it when she saw Sheldon's look of surprise
"I know you do" replied Sheldon trying not to betray his feelings
"Good" Amy extracted her hand from his and started to pack up, she didn't know why she thought Sheldon would return the I love you and was annoyed at herself for saying it
"Amy" started Sheldon before faltering
"I know what you are going to say and its fine, you don't have to say it, in fact just forget what I said" Amy finished for him and took her phone out to call Louise to collect them
"Well that's where you are wrong, I want to live with you"
"If you can't even say you love me back then how can we live with each other? We have been over the living arrangements Sheldon, you need to live on your own for a while"
"I don't want to live on my own and I'm not the only one that thinks you should let me move in" replied Sheldon then realising he had dropped Leonard in it
"Who else thinks so?
"Nothing it doesn't matter"
"Well it does matter, for too long everything has been about you and what you want and how fast or slow we can proceed with our relationship and now that I am doing something for me, you don't like it"
"I never said I didn't like it"
"Could have fooled me" replied Amy as Louise pulled up
"You can leave all that, the cleaners will deal with it" said Louise
"Thanks and thank you for being so hospitable" replied Amy as she got into the front seat leaving Sheldon to sit on his own in the back
The drive back to Los Robles was quiet and Amy dropped Sheldon off without a word and then drove to her own house, she text Leonard and Penny to ask what Sheldon had been saying and Penny said she would be right over, Amy was making tea when she arrived
"I thought you were on date night with Sheldon? Asked Penny when Amy let her in
"We were until I opened my big mouth and told Sheldon I loved him"
"Oh, how did that go?
"How do you think? He clammed up and then started going on about us living together again"
"I still don't know why you wont let him move in" started Penny
"Because he made a big deal about it and I agreed with him, he has always had somebody to do things for him and he needs to learn to live on his own" replied Amy
"Do you not think that you are subconsciously punishing him? Asked Penny then regretting it when she saw Amy's look of fury
"Punishing him? No way, if I was to punish him for running off then I would have finished with him but I like the way things are going right now"
"Sheldon doesn't"
"Well what Sheldon wants doesn't always count, I am doing what I want for a change and that's something I am getting sick of talking about"
"Go easy on him Amy, this is all a big change for him"
"Sheldon has it lucky Penny, he has a job that I helped him to get funding for, he has me and he has his friends, he has nothing to complain about"
"You know while you were away, he asked Leonard and me to stay a few nights, he doesn't like the loneliness"
"Its all coming out tonight isn't it" Amy slammed her cup down in annoyance
"Look maybe tomorrow things will be better" suggested Penny
"Perhaps, I was going to have everybody over if you want to come?
"Sure and I can tell you where I am taking us all to look for dresses on our weekend away" replied Penny
"Great" Amy walked Penny to the door and opened it to find Sheldon standing there with an overnight bag
"You want me to stay? Asked Penny
"No its fine, see you tomorrow" Amy kissed Penny on the cheek and let Sheldon in
"So now you're inviting yourself to stay at my house? Asked Amy as Sheldon put his bag in his room
"Well I didn't like how the night ended" replied Sheldon joining Amy on the sofa
"You know I just wanted to give us a great date and I messed up by telling you how I felt and your reaction shows me that you are not ready for anything else"
"Amy I not one for expressing my feelings that well"
"You're telling me" muttered Amy as Sheldon took her hands and started to fondle them
"If you will let me finish"
Amy glared at him and tried to extract her hands but Sheldon brought her into a hug and kissed her, the kiss made them both breathless and Amy was aroused until she came to her senses
"You were saying?
"Oh yes, I might not always be able to express how I really feel about you but I am very fond of you" replied Sheldon
"I guess that's as good as I am going to get for now" sighed Amy
"You can see physically what you mean to me Amy" said Sheldon showing her the bulge in his trousers and placing Amy's hand on it and then closing his eyes in joy at her touch
"Fine, I am going to bed, your know where your room is"
"I'm not staying with you tonight? Asked Sheldon startled at Amy's removal
"You are kidding me? You're just lucky that I am letting you stay here tonight" replied Amy giving him a look and then going off to her room and locking the door
"Darn it" exclaimed Sheldon deciding the only thing he could do was go home, he text Leonard who picked him up and he told Amy through the door that he was going home
Sheldon went to see Amy at work in the morning but discovered Amy already had problems as she discovered a lack of staff available to cover the weekend for the addiction study that was taking place for the cocaine addicted rabbits, she immediately withdrew all doses and drafting in several grad students and making Sheldon, Leonard, Howard and Raj help she took all the rabbit cages and the rabbits back to her house and left them in one of the spare bedrooms, she was still going to hold that evenings get together with her friends, it would just be accompanied by the smell of rabbit, with everybody going back to work to finish off, Sheldon and Amy were left alone at the house, Sheldon helped Amy to settle the rabbits in and feed them and gave Amy his bottle of purrel to use to clean her hands
"Thanks for your help today, I may require all of you to bring them all back on Monday morning though" said Amy as they flopped onto the couch
"Its fine, also I am sorry if I am pushing you about the living arrangements"
"Look all I want is for you to live on your own for a while, I said give it 6 months, perhaps when I return from Saudi in January, we can review the situation, lets just have a happy evening shall we? Replied Amy
"You go it" Sheldon was just happy that Amy was even thinking about letting him live with her
"Right, you know what everybody likes for Chinese, you ring in the order and I will go and collect the drinks, they will all be here soon" ordered Amy standing up
"Just sit down, you have had a busy day, just relax" suggested Sheldon pulling Amy down into his arms
"Oh I think I know what your idea of relaxing is" replied Amy as Sheldon tickled her
The tickling made them roll onto the floor laughing and kissing, very quickly Amy found herself straddling Sheldon, his erection pressing up against her through his trousers, she leaned down and kissed him hard while pressing herself against his arousal, Sheldon groaned into her mouth at the movement and quickly flipped Amy so she was on her back and he started to grind against her
"I think the couch is more comfortable" winched Amy as she had a pain in her back
"Sorry, got carried away" mumbled Sheldon still kissing her
"Play your cards right and you might get to share my bed tonight" winked Amy as Sheldon helped her up and they sat cuddling on the sofa for a while
A couple of hours later everybody had arrived and after eating their food, the guys went downstairs to the games room while Penny told the girls of her dress shopping plans
"Ok, what I really wanted to do was go to Europe but I cant afford that so we are going to New York instead, Leonard's mother is allowing me to use her apartment as she wont be there so that will save on hotel costs" said Penny
"What date are we going again? Asked Bernadette
"1st weekend of November, Friday evening and coming back Sunday afternoon" replied Penny
"Have you booked the flights already? Asked Amy
"Yes but it was my suggestion so don't worry about the cost and Emily I want you to come as well, I want you to be my maid of honour, I have Amy and Bernadette as bridesmaids and I know we haven't known each other that long but I would like you there"
"Thank you, my sister got married last year and found the perfect dress in New York, I will show you some pictures of it next time we are together" replied Emily
"Sure that will be helpful" replied Penny smiling at her
"Have the guys chosen suits yet? Asked Bernadette
"No but Leonard will probably find his in an afternoon on Rodeo Drive" replied Penny shrugging
The girls continued to chat for some time and eventually everybody left, Amy and Sheldon went to bed, this time together and after a very long make out session with hands and body parts everywhere all over each other, they drifted off to sleep
Amy was the first to wake up the next morning, she was facing Sheldon who had his arms and legs around her, she softly kissed him and then extracted herself from him and went to feed the rabbits and then made breakfast for herself and Sheldon, she came back into the bedroom with a tray full of muffins and juice just as Sheldon was waking up, she placed the tray on the nightstand and joined Sheldon in bed, Sheldon pulled Amy on top of him and they enjoyed a long kissing session before breaking apart
"As you can see I made breakfast for you" said Amy indicating the nightstand with the food
"Thank you" replied Sheldon sitting up as Amy passed him the food
"So any plans for today?
"Only to spend it with you, perhaps we can go visit one of the museums" suggested Sheldon
"That would be nice but I just remembered I can't leave the rabbits"
"Sure, I will help with that, I also have laundry to do which I will have to go back home for"
"I have a spare key to the apartment, you stay here and I will collect it all and you can do it here"
"Really?
"Yes"
Sheldon stopped eating and looked at Amy for a long time before speaking
"Amy I love you" said Sheldon leaving Amy looking speechless at him
