"Amy I love you" said Sheldon
Once Amy had recovered from the surprise she spoke

"Yes, I should have said it before but I was a coward"

"I say I love you the other day and you responded by saying you wanted to live with me and you heard my reply then"
"Yes, you said how can we live together if I can't say I love you" replied Sheldon

"Are you only saying that because you think it will make me want to live with you sooner rather than later?
"Amy how could you think that?
"Because as I said it's all a little too convenient" Amy removed herself from the bed and started to pace the room in annoyance
"Amy I do love you, I mean it, look this isn't easy for me to say and I hoped it would be received in a better way" Sheldon got out of the bed and went to Amy and held her
"Well you had better mean it and I still mean it when I say I will review living arrangements in January"
"Sure and I figured if you were not scared to tell me how you felt then I should just go ahead and do the same, I do love you and I am very fond of you" replied Sheldon taking Amy back to the bed
"Well I am glad we got that sorted" said Amy
"Can we talk about intimacy and physical relations?
"Now?
"Why not?
"Fine, I still don't think we need to rush into coitus, as I have said before I want to enjoy all the stages before we do that" replied Amy
"I agree"
"Good, I am going to take a shower" said Amy leaving Sheldon wondering about the physical side of their relationship
By the time Amy had showered and dressed, Sheldon was already up and washing up the breakfast things, he was also dressed and wearing his jacket which surprised Amy
"Are you going somewhere?
"Yes, Leonard asked if I wanted to the Comic Book store, Wil Wheaton is doing a signed appearance"
"But you and Wil are friends, why do you need a signed copy of anything?
"I don't but he asked if we wanted to go for lunch afterwards so that's what we are doing, Penny is on her way over once she is ready and you girls can have the day to yourself" replied Sheldon picking up his bag and placing it over his shoulder
"I see, I will see you later then perhaps" replied Amy wondering about this new arrangement
"Of course, I will do my laundry at home afterwards and then come back here" replied Sheldon
After a moment of hesitation from both of them, Sheldon leant down and gave Amy a quick kiss and then made his way to the front door, Penny was the other side and just about to knock, Leonard was already waiting in his car for Sheldon
"Hi Ames, shall I just go straight through?
"Yes sure"
Amy watched while Sheldon got into the car and didn't even give her a backwards glance and then went back inside, she needed to feed and change the rabbits bedding so with help from Penny she got to work and afterwards they sat at the dining room table talking and drinking tea
"Sheldon told me he loved me this morning"
"That's great isn't it?
"In theory yes, but how do I know he's not just saying it and he really means it?
"Because its obvious, Amy he looks at you the way you look at him, don't make the mistake I did, you saw how badly it went for me and Leonard when I couldn't tell him I loved him back" replied Penny trying to make her point
"I did question him on his motive" started Amy as her Skype started to ring and she noted it was Faisal
"Its Faisal, you don't mind if I take this?
"Go ahead" replied Penny smiling at her
"Hi Faisal, how are you? Asked Amy on greeting him
"Very good thank you, I wanted to give you a few days before calling you, how was the lecture tour?
"It was a brilliant success, some of them want me to lecture again but I will have to see how it fits in with my schedule"
"Good and how's Sheldon?
"Oh he's fine" replied Amy
"Amy see what Faisal thinks of the current situation" offered Penny
"What does she mean? Asked Faisal as Penny came in to view and then as Amy was staying silent on the matter spoke for her
"Amy told Sheldon she loved him, he didn't say it back until two days later and Amy thinks he only said it because he thinks he will get to move in quicker" said Penny trying to be helpful and receiving a glare from Amy in return
"Amy are you sure you are not just punishing yourself? Asked Faisal after a brief silence
"What do you mean?
"This is something you have wanted with Sheldon for a long time and now that you are in a better place in your relationship, you are holding him at arms length"
"So basically I just give him what he wants and he wins, same old Amy being walked over? Asked Amy getting annoyed
"You're not exactly winning yourself here Amy" added Penny
"Just think about it Amy, don't push Sheldon away because otherwise Sheldon might just get fed up with it all and walk away from the relationship" said Faisal
"Fine, can we talk about something else? Have you finalised plans for the exchange in January/ asked Amy
"Oh yes, we had over a 100 students put their name forward and we decided to choose from the best ones academically wise, Amy I would also like to ask if you would come for more than a week in December, perhaps two?
"Sure, I can work something out with Siebert and get back to you on Monday"
"Sorry to be presumptuous but I already asked and he agreed as long as you were ok with it"
"Then the answer is yes" replied Amy smiling at him
"Amy, what about Sheldon? Asked Penny
"He's going to Texas" replied Amy
"Amy I have to go, there is a banquet starting in an hour and I need to get ready, have a good weekend to you both" said Faisal smiling at her and Penny and then signing off
"You know I think you should talk with Sheldon, what do you want out of this relationship Amy?
"I would eventually like us to be living together and perhaps get married" replied Amy
"I still think you might be punishing Sheldon without realising it and that also means you are punishing yourself, you are missing out on so much having him live with you, I kind of wish I had done it earlier with Leonard"
"So what do you think I should do?
"Talk to Sheldon, perhaps let him live with you on a trial basis"
"A trial basis? For how long?
"Its up to you but January is only three months away"
"What's January got to do with it?
"Sheldon told us that you would review living arrangements then"
"I see, well I will think about it, do you fancy a swim? I can't leave the house because of the rabbits"
"Sure, do you have a spare costume?
"Yes, let's go"
Amy and Penny were still in the pool a couple of hours later, they had text Bernadette and Emily and they had come over as well and they were all sipping wine and relaxing together when Amy heard the doorbell go, she quickly went and found the guys there and Stuart and Wil Wheaton
"Oh hi, I wasn't expecting you all until later" said Amy standing aside to let them all in
"Hi Amy, good to see" said Wil greeting her with a hug and a kiss on the cheek
"And you, how was the signing?
"Excellent, Sheldon said you wouldn't mind if I came back here with him?
"Of course not, the more the merrier, come through to the garden"
"Thanks"
Sheldon was the last into the house and hovered by Amy as she closed the door and took her briefly into the lounge while the guys went outside
"You don't mind I invited him?
"Of course not, perhaps we can order Chinese for everybody?
"That would be great but I am still full from lunch, I brought the guys back so we could make use of the games room" replied Sheldon
"Well that's what its there for" replied Amy smiling at him and walking out into the garden and getting back in the pool
It was several hours before everybody left and Sheldon helped Amy to clear up the remnants of the Chinese food and helped her supervise the rabbits as she let them in the garden for a short run around, afterwards they were sat on the sofa cuddling
"Did you get your laundry done?
"Yes, tomorrow us guys are going to Paintballing in the morning"
"Ok, I should also let you know that I will be away for two weeks in December now"
"I see, I am still going to Texas"
"I know and we can Skype everyday"
"I would like that, although I want to be with you all the time" replied Sheldon pulling her closer for a tighter hug
"I know and I want that as well"
"You do? Then why are you holding back so much? Asked Sheldon surprised
"I guess I am just trying to take control and in reality it's affecting both of us, which is why I have come to a decision" replied Amy
"About what? Are you breaking up with me? Sheldon started to worry
"No of course not, how would you feel about a trial living together arrangement?
"I would like that, what do you have in mind?
"I haven't had much chance to think about it, it was suggested to me earlier today but perhaps a month starting from next weekend? I have meetings all week for this dual study starting soon so next weekend will be better"
"That works for me"
"Good and just so you know I am still going ahead with my plans for lecture tours and working in Saudi, I just don't think we need to live in each others pockets"
"I wouldn't stop you from doing any of that, I hoped you will talk to me about them first though" replied Sheldon
"I will give you my itinerary tomorrow" replied Amy smiling at him
"You know living alone is lonely when you are used to people around" commented Sheldon
"I have gotten used to it but I guess it's different for you as you always had Leonard"
"Yes but its not Leonard that I crave company with, admittedly he is my best friend but you are the one I want to be with Amy and you know how hard it is for me to admit things like that"
"I know and we will see how living together goes but lets get one thing straight, I am not going to be doing everything for you, I am nobodies maid" replied Amy
"I get that"
"Just as long as we are straight with each other" replied Amy giving him the sort of smile that made him instantly aroused

"Well that was certainly different" said Sheldon a few minutes later after he had recovered himself and Amy had cleaned up

"Of course and perhaps with our trial living together, we can explore more intimacy" replied Sheldon eagerly

"Good now we need to sleep, I have to be up early tomorrow" replied Sheldon
"Sheldon I love you and I am sorry if you felt that I was dragging my heels over the living arrangements"
"Its fine, I also love you by the way" replied Sheldon
Amy realised for the first time in a long time, he had a visible look of relief on his face, she wasn't sure if that was because of what they had just did or because of her suggestion about living together but they snuggled up together in bed and drifted off to sleep together
