Disaster strikes
The next morning Sheldon and Amy woke up together, they were spooning and Amy was very aware that Sheldon was aroused for her, Sheldon started to nibble and kiss her neck as he caressed her nipples, making Amy squirm and gasp at his touch
"Turn over Amy" commanded Sheldon
"I quite like it like this" replied Amy wriggling against his erection making Sheldon groan
"Vixen" muttered Sheldon turning Amy himself
"Morning stud" said Amy smiling at him as Sheldon pulled her into his arms and they had a kiss and cuddle
"Good morning to you, are you sure about us having the trial living together arrangement? Asked Sheldon
"Yes, now is a good a time as any I guess"
"You said you had meetings all week, what are they about?
"The dual study is starting the following week and we are just meeting the people who have volunteered and also to make sure they don't have a problem with being so close to monkeys" replied Amy
"What about the rabbit study?
"Well I have already done the rota for it for the next few weeks so that's sorted, I will be too busy with the new study to have any input but my colleagues will keep me up to date with it" replied Amy
"And will you have help on this one?
"Yes there are two of us running it and once I have had all the meetings, I will schedule as and when people should come in"
"How many people are doing it?
"So far 30 are taking part in the first one and we have the same amount for the one in March"
"How many monkeys?
"We have only got 16 monkeys but we wont show them all the same pictures, we need to see various reactions, so will mix it up as we will need to use the same monkey more than once"
"Good plan, shall we have breakfast? Asked Sheldon though he was comfortable in bed with Amy
"Sure though you don't have long to get ready until Leonard picks you up"
"Then maybe we can make the most of that time together" replied Sheldon wrapping his legs around Amy and pinning her to the bed and giving her a deep lingering kiss
"You could always cancel" suggested Amy in between kisses
"I could but it's arranged now" replied Sheldon moving his head down to her breasts and sucking on an erect nipple, Amy arched her back in delight and moaned lustily
"We will have plenty of time for this later, you don't want to let your friends down"
"You are correct of course, I will go and shower"
Sheldon gave Amy one last kiss before going off to shower and by the time he had emerged, Amy had made him a light breakfast of scrambled eggs and bacon, he had just finished eating it when Leonard sounded his car horn outside, he kissed Amy and left
Several days went by and on Wednesday at work, Amy was interviewing one of the test subjects and making sure they were ok with the monkey, when the door burst open with an out of breath Raj and Howard
"I am busy, whatever it is will have to wait" said Amy closing the door to stop the monkey escaping
"This can't wait Amy, the apartment building has had a serious fire, Leonard and Sheldon have gone off to see what can be saved" replied Howard who was the least breathless of the two of them
"Goodness, was anybody hurt?
"We don't know, Penny rang Leonard to say what had happened, she was there, Siebert was in the cafeteria when Leonard got the call so he at least knows" replied Howard as Siebert came in
"Dr Fowler, if you wish to go then I have no objections" said Siebert on realising what was being talked about
"Unfortunately it will have to wait because I have these meetings until 3pm and can't cancel" replied Amy before turning to her subject who was sitting open-mouthed in surprise at this sudden turn of events
"That's fine, leave whenever you need to and Dr Koothrappali and Mr Wolowitz if you wish to assist your friends please do" replied Siebert nodding at the two of them and leaving
"Amy do you want one of us to stay? Asked Howard avoiding the monkey which had taken a liking to him and was trying to pat his arm
"No its ok, I'm sure Sheldon will call me soon enough" replied Amy
Raj and Howard left and Amy had several more meetings and a phone call from Sheldon asking if Leonard and Penny could stay the night at the house as the building had been evacuated until at least the next day, she agreed and once her meetings ended she left work and took a short detour down Los Robles and was surprised at the amount of damage caused, all the upper floor windows were blown out and there was extensive fire damage on the top floor and yellow warning signs and a Police Office stationed outside along with firemen milling around the building
Amy arrived back home a few minutes later, her driveway and immediate area she noticed was full of her friends cars, the house had an unusual smell of smoke, she went through to the lounge where Penny was sitting on the couch with Bernadette, the noise of the guys could be heard from the games room
"Hello, sorry I couldn't be here sooner" said Amy leaning down to give Penny a hug
"Its fine, its work its ok" Penny smiled up at her
"What happened to cause the fire and are you ok?
"I'm fine now, Leonard made me take a brandy for shock and I had a shower as I was covered in smoke, the lift was being replaced and I don't know how but a spark went up and engulfed the lift shaft in a fireball which exploded through the lift doors on the top floor, the sprinkler system set in on the landing but not before it engulfed the two apartments"
"I took a detour, the building looks terrible" commented Amy sitting down next to her and hugging Penny, she realised she was shaking a little
"You should see inside then" joked Penny laughing but then coughing as the effects of the smoke took hold
"Was it bad?
"Yes, the two apartments above ours are pretty much ruined, luckily I was running a bath at the time and managed to dampen down the hallway with the lift workmen to prevent further damage, the firemen hosed everything down but there is water still coming through the floors into both our apartments"
"Did you manage to get anything out?
"Oh yes, I grabbed some of mine and Leonard's clothes when the fireman told us all to leave and the key to here, you don't mind do you?
"Of course not" replied Amy as the guys all appeared, she jumped up to give Leonard a hug and then Sheldon who held her tight
"I'm just glad I brought my comic books and all my valuables here the weekend" said Sheldon
"That was good thinking" smiled Amy
"We should hear later today or tomorrow when we can go back to the block" said Leonard
"That's fine, stay as long as you need to, now are you all staying because I can go to the store and get groceries and do dinner for all" asked Amy looking at everybody in the group
"Don't put yourself out Amy, we can get takeaway" replied Leonard
"Also sorry for interrupting your meeting" said Howard
"Its fine, I managed to get them all done and I have more tomorrow so I wont be around in the morning and early afternoon" replied Amy
"I was supposed to be working at the Cheesecake Factory tonight but I just called in and cancelled, all my uniform is at the apartment anyway" commented Penny
Amy was about to answer when they heard the doorbell go, she went to the door and was faced with two burly fireman, both looking sweaty and grim
"Hi, can I help you?
"Yes, your friends said they would be here if we needed to drop by, mind if we come in? Asked one
"Sure, what's your names?
"I am Gary the lead fireman on the site and this is my assistant Bob" said Gary taking his helmet off and following Amy through to the lounge
"Penny, Leonard, Sheldon, this is Gary and Bob here to see you, can I get you both a drink? Asked Amy
"Tea please both with two sugars" replied Bob taking a seat
"Amy I will do this, you stay with these guys" said Bernadette dragging Howard and Raj to the kitchen
"What's happened? Asked Penny
"Unfortunately as you know there was water already seeping through the floor, that has now caused the ceilings in both the apartments to cave in" replied Gary
"Were you in the middle of moving out? Asked Bob to Sheldon
"Sort of, my girlfriend and I were having a planned living together trial starting this weekend" replied Sheldon
"I see, well from what we have seen all of your furniture is soaked through and that goes for your apartment too Penny, we have checked the apartments below yours and there is still water coming through and therefore we cannot allow anybody to go back in the building for now to live" replied Bob
"For how long? Asked Leonard
"From experience at least a few weeks, you may want to look for alternative accommodation" replied Gary looking to Leonard and Penny
"They already have it" commented Amy causing Leonard and Penny to look at her in surprise
"What do you mean? Asked Penny
"I have spare rooms, you can stay here till you can either go back or find somewhere else" replied Amy
"That's very accommodating of you, we will come by again tomorrow and let you know the situation, it may be that we allow you back to the apartments under supervision to collect any valuables, the building is secure for now" replied Gary
"Thank you" replied Penny and Leonard together
The fireman stayed for the tea and spoke about the fire and the damage that it could of caused internally and structurally and then left, Amy saw them out and came back to find Sheldon looking pensive on the sofa
"What's wrong?
"My spot is ruined" complained Sheldon
"Does that really matter? You are here and safe, you will find another spot to make your own" replied Amy sitting down and attempting to give him a hug
"But that's my spot" repeated Sheldon
"Tomorrow you will go back and you will be able to see if you can salvage anything, think of that as a positive and for all three of you, if you need somewhere to store things, then you can use my garage or the store room downstairs" replied Amy
"Thanks Amy and thanks for letting us stay at short notice" replied Penny
"Its what friends do" replied Amy smiling at her friend
"Um, do you have any house rules? Asked Penny suddenly
"Only to keep it clean and tidy" replied Amy
"Oh dear" commented Penny who wasn't the tidiest of people
"Don't worry Amy, I will make sure it's all ok" added Leonard
"That's fine, I can get you some clean bed linen and you can have the front bedroom, now lets order that takeaway" replied Amy
The next day Amy only had meetings until 1pm and was able to leave and meet the guys at the apartment block as they had been given a short time spell of access to remove any possessions, Raj and Howard had come along to help as well, they were met outside the block by Gary and Bob, they had several boxes ready for the guys to move their things
"Now you have one hour to get as much as you can and you will all need to wear hard hats and face masks as the smell is still quite strong, if there is any danger then leave immediately, follow me please" said Gary after he waited for them to put the hats and masks
"It really does smell" commented Amy as they trooped into the lobby area and up to the two apartments where they could see for themselves the blackened walls of the staircase going up to the 5th floor, Amy, Sheldon and Raj went into 4A and the damage was very bad, all of Sheldon's kitchen apparatus was destroyed as was his living room bookcase and sofa
"My spot" said Sheldon softly standing next to it
"Let's go to the bedroom and see if there is anything you need, is Leonard's old room empty? Said Amy
"Yes he took everything but the bed and furniture" replied Sheldon as Amy guided him round while Raj filled a box with things he could save
They took one look at Sheldon's room where the ceiling had caved in and ruined his bed and took his paintings off the wall and grabbed all of the clothes he had left behind that hadn't been ruined and returned to the lounge where Raj was packing some of the undamaged books
"Thanks for helping Raj but there isn't much to save, probably once we are allowed more time, we can take it all to the dump" commented Sheldon shaking his head in despair
"Sheldon take one of the boxes down to the car and stay there, looking at this isn't doing you any good" said Amy trying to help him
"No it's ok, lets see if next door need any help" replied Sheldon
They took all the boxes out and left them in the hallway and locked up and went across the hall where Penny wasn't doing much other than looking at Leonard and Howard gathering up undamaged goods
"It's lucky I had no real valuables here" commented Penny looking around at the damage
The group trooped down the stairs and loaded the boxes into the cars and drove back to Amy's house, Leonard and Penny announced they were going out to dinner and Amy and Sheldon after going shopping for dinner groceries, were left alone, they were sharing a cuddle on the couch when Sheldon spoke up
"This living together trial is going to hinder things now that Leonard and Penny are living here isn't it? Commented Sheldon
"How do you mean? Asked Amy looking round at him confused
"It was supposed to be just us two living together and working at our relationship but now that wont happen"
"It will happen, it will just involve Leonard and Penny a little bit, Sheldon what's the matter, there must be more to it than that? Asked Amy removing herself from the cuddle and turning to look at him properly
"We won't have any privacy" moaned Sheldon
"Oh I see what you mean, well we have privacy right now" replied Amy giving him a kiss
"Don't ever leave me" said Sheldon suddenly after breaking the kiss
"Why would I leave you?
"The last couple of days have scared me, I don't want to lose you Amy" replied Sheldon pulling Amy into an embrace
"Is this about your spot? I know how attached you are to it"
"Yes some of it, I doubt very much that any of us will be allowed back to live there in the near future" replied Sheldon
"Well then you have the perfect spot right here, you haven't complained yet" replied Amy smiling at him
"You are correct of course, lets make dinner together" said Sheldon
Sheldon gave Amy a kiss that lasted for some time and then they went to the kitchen to make dinner, they were cooking chicken wrapped in bacon and mixed veg, once that was done, Sheldon made Amy go to the bedroom while he set up the dining room table and then called for her, Amy emerged to semi darkness and candles on the dining table
"What's all this?
"I wanted to treat you, I am not good with romance but this is as good as anything" replied Sheldon
"You are better at it than you think" replied Amy smiling at him
"Then please take a seat" said Sheldon
Sheldon pulled out a chair for her and helped her to sit down and then collected the dinner from the kitchen, then they tucked into their food
"I guess this makes up for missing date night yesterday" commented Sheldon
"Well there was good reason for that" replied Amy
They finished the rest of the meal and then cuddled on the sofa, the cuddling turned into kissing and soon they were making out on the sofa, they only broke apart when Leonard and Penny arrived back and were grinning at them
"Sorry to interrupt" said Penny
"Oh sorry" said Amy jumping up and adjusting her skirt and top while Sheldon covered his groin with a cushion
"Don't be sorry, it's your house" replied Penny flopping down on to the other sofa
"How was dinner? Where did you go? Asked Amy
"Leonard took us to the Langham hotel, it was delicious and as a thank you to you for letting us stay we are taking you both there this weekend for an afternoon of spa treatments and then dinner" replied Penny
"Oh that's very sweet but you don't have to do that" replied Amy
"We want to, so please let us" urged Penny
"Ok you got it" replied Amy
"Good, we are off to bed now, see you tomorrow" said Penny and Leonard together
"Ok goodnight" replied Amy smiling as they left
"Alone again" commented Sheldon pulling Amy close
"Indeed, perhaps we should go to bed as well, I have meetings starting at 9 and need to be ready and the study starts next week and need to finish up the schedule" replied Amy
"Come on then" replied Sheldon
It only took them a few minutes to get changed and they were snuggling in bed and in between kisses, Sheldon gave Amy a long stare
"What are you thinking? Asked Amy
"That you are an amazing person and I don't tell you enough" replied Sheldon
"Thank you" replied Amy
"Also that I love you" replied Sheldon though quieter this time
"I love you as well" replied Amy as they kissed again and drifted off to sleep
