The first Sunday that Amy's houseguests were staying, Amy sat everybody down at breakfast to talk and go over morning routines
"For the next few weeks I will be leaving early which means there will be a bathroom free, Penny have you got anything lined up for early morning starts?
"Nothing, its ok I know to keep out of everybody's way" replied Penny
"Good"
"Amy what time are you starting then? Asked Sheldon as this was the first he had heard of it
"Well with the study starting and my own work to do as well I will be starting at 8am, I will wake you with a cup of tea before I leave so don't worry" replied Amy smiling at him
"How long will that last for?
"Until the study ends in November, so it will only be for two months and I'm sure Leonard will be happy to drive you to and front work if I can't"
"Of course" replied Leonard
"Another thing Sheldon is that I think you should at least enquire into driving lessons, I won't always be here to drive you and the same goes for Leonard"
"Alright, I will think about it, anything else?
"No I think we have everything covered, as both of your desks are still at the apartment block if you need to work you can use mine or the dining table" replied Amy
"Amy is there anything we can pay you for having us to stay, we could be here for a few weeks" asked Leonard
"If you wish to do anything, you could a weekly shop for me, you know what Sheldon likes to eat after all, I can do you a list as well" replied Amy
"You got it" replied Leonard
"So what are your plans for today? Asked Penny to Amy
"Sheldon is taking me to the movies and then I have some work to do, why?
"Just wondering, I am working this afternoon anyway" replied Penny
"I was going to see if Howard and Raj want to come over for video games" added Leonard
"That's fine, actually maybe Sheldon would like to join you" replied Amy looking at Sheldon
"But what about our date?
"We can have our regular date night on Wednesday, enjoy the time with your friends Sheldon" replied Amy smiling at him again
"Fine" replied Sheldon who shrugged and went back to eating
On Monday Amy got to work early as planned, she had a lecture to give before her first test subject, she and her colleague Dr Reed would be working together on the study as they planned to not only use the visual reactions but also take the brain wave reactions
Amy's test subject David had arrived and after being reintroduced to the monkey, was being fitted with the brain monitoring equipment, Dr Reed was in charge of saving all the information for Amy to gather once the study was over
"Now just to remind you that there will be things that may scare you and some that wont, the monkey could have different reactions to you and will all need to be aware of that which is why there is one of us to monitor the monkey" said Amy
"I understand and its fine, I have worked with monkeys in the past and handled them" replied David
"Excellent now is everybody ready? Asked Amy to David and Dr Reed and taking her dictator out
"Yes" replied the two of them
"Then we shall start, I am Dr Fowler and with me is Dr Reed, we have human test subject David and Nancy the monkey, first picture is ducks in a pond" started Amy before the familiar knocking of the door came and Sheldon walked in
"Hi Amy, are you coming to lunch? Asked Sheldon before taking in the scene
"No sorry, would you mind leaving as this is important work we are about to start" replied Amy
"Can I stay and watch? Asked Sheldon noticing the only male in the room and seeing that he was around Amy's age and very handsome
"That's a negative, I will see you later" replied Amy urging him to leave
"I can take lunch later with you if you like?
"No its fine, we are taking David out to lunch afterwards as part of his payment" replied Amy
"Fine" replied Sheldon not liking the arrangement and after one last glare at David and then Amy left the room and slammed the door
"Sorry about that, shall we begin again" replied Amy as she continued with the tests and trying not to show her annoyance at Sheldon's interruptions
Amy had originally agreed to take Sheldon home after work but her final test subject was late and she wasn't able to leave until 6pm she sent Sheldon a text telling him to go home with Leonard, she arrived home to find Penny was out and as she went downstairs to the games room, she overheard Sheldon and Leonard talking and they hadn't heard her come home, she stopped outside the room to listen
"Leonard I don't know what to do, she is blowing me out of dates and today she refused lunch with me to apparently go with her test subject"
"I think you are thinking too much about it, she is clearly crazy about you and you have to remember you are the only that ran off and maybe she is worried that you could do the same thing again" replied Leonard
"But I won't be doing that again, everything is going so well for us right now, that there is no reason for me to do that"
"Then you need to tell her" replied Leonard
There was silence for a moment then the sound of the video games started up again, Amy went back upstairs and pretended to have just got home by closing the front door loudly and announcing her arrival, Sheldon came upstairs immediately
"Hello, how was your day?
"It was fine thank you, the testing went well, we have had more people sign up for this one as well so I need to spend the evening fitting them in where I can" replied Amy
"Leonard is going to the Cheesecake Factory and getting us dinner, did you want anything?
"No it's ok, I am not hungry, why don't you eat out tonight and I can get on with my work? We can go out tomorrow for date night if you like instead of Wednesday?
"But Tuesday is the day for everybody to meet for dinner?
"Wednesday it is then" replied Amy smiling at him and then giving him a kiss and going through to the lounge where they sat down on the sofa together
"Do you have anywhere you would like to go? Asked Sheldon pulling Amy close to him
"Surprise me" replied Amy turning to smile at him
"That I will do, you don't mind if I go back and finish the game with Leonard before we go out?
"Go ahead" replied Amy
"Excellent"
Sheldon gave her a kiss and disappeared back downstairs, 10 minutes later they were finished, he and Leonard went out and Amy was left alone as planned to sort out the extra times and dates for the study
On Wednesday, Amy made sure to finish on time, Sheldon came by her office at 5pm and picked her up for their date
"Are you going to tell me where we are going? Asked Amy as they had a kiss and cuddle in the office
"Somewhere we haven't been together before, although I have tested it out previously"
"Obviously" commented Amy knowing Sheldon's dining preferences
"As much as this is exciting in the office with you, we have reservations for 6pm so must go" said Sheldon reluctantly
They left quickly and on the way to the car, Sheldon told Amy they were going to the Parkway Grill which Amy definitely hadn't been to, they had a great evening and Sheldon felt things were getting back on track with Amy, he was still unaware that Amy had heard what he said to Leonard, but when he and Amy arrived back home, it was to a quiet empty house, they quickly went to bed and made the most of the privacy, still stopping short of full coitus though
On Thursday Amy arrived back at the house after work with Sheldon, Leonard was also just pulling up outside when they noticed two people get out of their car on the other side of the road and walk towards the house
"Hi, we are from Pasadena City Council, are any of you Leonard or Sheldon? Asked one of them who then showed their ID
"Yes that's us" replied Leonard
"Come through to the house" added Amy opening the door and letting them in and then also noticing Penny parking up further down the street
"Thank you"
Once everybody was in and Amy had offered everybody a drink, the two people introduced themselves properly
"Ok, I am Sarah Tyler, property tenant manager of Pasadena City Council and this is Gary Brooks who is in charge of all the caretakers of our apartment blocks"
"Is there a problem? Asked Leonard
"Yes, we have had a full survey done for the apartment building and it will be unfit for living in for some time I am afraid, there is also more bad news unfortunately" replied Sarah
"What's the bad news? Asked Penny
"We applied to the insurance company to see if we could go ahead with repairs, but it seems they received an anonymous email complaining about how the lift hadn't been working for 10 years, they are taking some time to investigate this and we at the council had assumed the lift was fixed but it seems your caretaker neglected to tell us that it hadn't" replied Sarah
"He has since been sacked for gross misconduct" added Gary
"We have managed to rehome the top floor tenants as top priority and all the other residents have found alternative accommodation, would you be requiring help because we will add you to the housing list but as you have somewhere to stay it might be a while" said Sarah
"They can stay here as long as they need to" replied Amy
"That's good of you, also we will be giving everybody $2500 as compensation for inconvenience, also this weekend we will be clearing out the apartments so please come by and remove anything that you no longer can use, we will have lorries outside ready to collect anything you find unusable" added Sarah
"Why are you clearing everything? Asked Sheldon
"Because it will be some time, if at all that repairs can be done, without the insurance money its simply not in our budget to do so at the moment, we have had interest from developers who want to buy the building and knock it down and build luxury flats, we are considering the offer which is also why we are giving compensation, we have a security guarding the building at the moment but once its cleared they will leave" replied Sarah
"What time on Saturday? Asked Amy
"We plan to be there from 9am and be there on Sunday if needs be, presumably you will be available? Asked Sarah
"Of course" replied Leonard and Sheldon together
"Excellent, I am sorry that we couldn't meet on better circumstances, but we will see you at the block on Saturday and also here are your cheques for compensation" replied Sarah taking the cheques from Gary and passing them over
Amy saw Sarah and Gary out and when she came back to the lounge, Leonard and Penny were talking
"We should start looking for somewhere, we can't stay here forever it's not fair on Amy" said Leonard
"I agree but it might be a while before we can get somewhere, are we buying or renting? Asked Penny
"With the compensation we can add that to a deposit and we are both earning so we could buy but it might be quicker to rent for now and then we can save more" replied Leonard
"I meant it when I said stay as long as you need to" said Amy
"We know and we are very grateful" replied Leonard nodding at her
"I'm working on Saturday doing voiceovers in the morning and then the Cheesecake Factory in the evening, so I won't be able to help with the removal" commented Penny
"Its fine, we can rope in Howard, Raj and Stuart to help" replied Leonard
"Amy come with me a moment please" said Sheldon getting up and going to their bedroom
"What's up? Asked Amy wondering what was wrong with Sheldon as he seemed agitated
"This compensation we are being given, I want you to have it" said Sheldon flopping down on to the bed and encouraging Amy to sit next to him
"Why?
"Because I wont need anywhere else to live, I intend to make this arrangement work, I don't plan to run away ever again" replied Sheldon
"Keep it for yourself, I don't need the money" replied Amy
"You do believe me about not running away again don't you?
"Sheldon I heard you talking to Leonard on Monday, I am not playing games with you Sheldon, I am in this relationship with you for the long run, I just need to know that you are as well"
"Of course, I know that you are holding something back from me though"
"I need to look out for myself first Sheldon, the rest is up to you"
"Look we are improving with the intimacy and that's something I thought would take me a long time to do and that's down to your trust in me"
"Then I suggest you don't let me down, because it hurt when you left me Sheldon and if you ever did that again there would be no way back for us"
"Then let me prove to you that it wont happen" replied Sheldon
Sheldon then took Amy in his arms and kissed her hard, they spent a few minutes not saying anything but rolling around the bed kissing and cuddling before they came up for air
"That is definitely good proof" commented Amy as she sat up and straightened her clothing, Sheldon pulled her back into his arms again
"Good" replied Sheldon taking Amy's hand to his erection and closing his eyes in elation at her touch
"Can we do this later, they will wonder what we are doing" commented Amy indicating their houseguests
"Fine, but you are all mine little lady" replied Sheldon giving her one last lingering kiss
"I don't doubt it" replied Amy smiling at him, then hearing Leonard and Penny say they were going out and the front door closing
"Looks like we have the place to ourselves" commented Sheldon
"That we do" said Amy giving Sheldon to sort of smile that made him want to do things to her
"Shall we stay in here? Asked Sheldon to be sure
"I believe so" replied Amy as she moved on top of Sheldon to straddle him then ran her hands up his t-shirt to fondle his belly and wiggled against his arousal
"Vixen" muttered Sheldon as they enjoyed the unexpected privacy
