Chapter 42: All That Matters
After me and Gohan's little moment, Goku walked behind the boy with a smile.
"Gohan, I think you might want to turn around. There's a person who wants to say hello standing right behind you." I gestured my finger, pointing at his father.
Gohan blinked. "Someone?"
I nodded. "Go ahead. Turn the other direction, you'll be surprised."
Gohan gulped, not really sure who I was referring to. As he turned, he closed his eyes, which only made Goku laugh.
"Aw, come on Gohan. Open your eyes, son. Don't you wanna see your old man again?" Asked Goku with a huge grin.
I walked to the side of those two and saw Gohan's eyes pop open. Before anyone could move or make a sound, Gohan tackled Goku to the ground crying.
"DAD!" He squealed. "I CAN"T BELIEVE IT! DAD, IT'S REALLY YOU!"
"A father-son reunion." Bulma smiled warmly. "Gohan must be feeling truly happy right now."
"I know he hardly showed any signs of grieving, but I could tell that boy missed his father more than anything in the universe." ChiChi said. She smiled brighter than any sun could shine.
Goku began laughing as he hugged his son. "That's one strong tackle, Gohan. You must've been training lately, huh?"
"Yeah. I was training in the h-hyperbolic time chamber again."
"The... time chamber?" Repeated Goku, with a raised brow.
Gohan jumped to his two feet with a sheepish smile. "I got really strong father. You'll never believe the abilities I managed to achieve!"
Goku risen also. He rubbed the back of his neck. "I saw it. You learned how to use Instant Transmission and not only that, but you can reach a higher level of a super saiyan than just the second."
"What did you just say Kakarot?!" Vegeta yelled in disbelief. Goku met the prince's eyes. "You already know Vegeta. I'm sure. Didn't you feel that abnormal amount of energy he released. It was definitely way beyond a super saiyan two."
"That's right. I did sense it.. Grr, the brat's ki was just like yours when you fought Eternal." Vegeta muttered through gritted teeth. It was obvious he was jealous and envied Goku and perhaps even Gohan.
"Now, now." Bulma interrupted, pointing her finger at her prince. "Vegeta, why don't you leave these two alone already? You know, I have a list of chores for you to do for me."
"Chores?" Vegeta frowned. "I'm not doing any chores for you! You're a woman! You do them!"
"Don't you talk back to me you lazy baffoon!" Bulma shouted angry. "You're gonna do them alright!"
"And what are you gonna do if I don't?"
Bulma crossed her arms across her chest and displayed an evil smirk. "If you don't Vegeta, you're gonna have to find your own food for an entire month! I'm not giving you anything!"
"Hmph," Vegeta chuckled. "That'll be easy, besides, your cooking is horrible anyways."
Right then and there, A huge, angry vein appeared on Bulma's temple. It looked like it was gonna burst open any second. "I'LL HAVE YOU KNOW THAT I'M AN EXCELLENT COOK! I'M SICK OF YOUR CHILDISH BEHAVIOR VEGETA! IF YOU DON"T DO THIS, YOU'RE NEVER GONNA USE THE GRAVITY ROOM EVER AGAIN! YOU WANNA KNOW WHY?! CAUSE I'LL BLOW IT TO PIECES!"
"You speak lies!" Vegeta confronted the blue-hair woman.
"Oh is that so?" Bulma taunted. She took out a device with a big red button. "With a push of this button, mister, the gravity room will no longer exist..."
This seemed to do the trick. Vegeta gave in and the two had left the room we were in.
"Now that Goku and Gohan is back, why not celebrate?" Yamcha asked. "it's been a while since we hung out."
"That's true." Krillin agreed. Everyone else in the room looked as though they were up for Yamcha's plan.
"Actually," Gohan quietly spoke. All eyes were on him as he looked at the floor shyly then stare back down at me. "I really would like to hang out today with you guys and especially dad, mom, and Goten, but..."
Everyone still in the room closely payed attention to the half saiyan.
"Well, what do you need to say Gohan?" Questioned Krillin, who was trying to find a clue on why Gohan was acting shy as he was.
Gohan chuckled and rubbed the back of his head. "I promised Tania that I would go on a date with her immediately after."
I felt my face burn up. I-I completely forgot... I was way into the dramatic scenes that was occuring, that I forgot I was going to go on a official date with the guy of my dreams.
Yamcha and Krillin snickered.
"Don't worry, Gohan. Ayyyy, we know that going on a date with your girlfriend is very important to you." Krillin commented.
My blush deepend. "G-Girlfriend?"
Yamcha walked up to me with a smirk. "That's right! Hehehe, you DO want to be Gohan's girl, right?"
I gulped. Gohan's girl? Me? I continued to blush at the thought of us being an official couple. W-Wow, I think i'm gonna die. Gohan's so dreamy. I'm so lucky!
"Tania?" I hear Gohan call my name. He was waving his hand in front of my face.
"What?" I blinked.
"Everyone already left."
I looked around the room. "But how did they leave so fast, wasn't we just talking."
Gohan nodded. "Yeah, but you just stopped talking suddenly. It was like you were in some sort of trance. Almost as if your mind just drifted into another dimension or something."
"Oh..." I blinked a few times. I laughed, then looked away from Gohan shy and awkwardly. "I guess I was thinking about our d-date..."
I felt Gohan's strong hand holding onto mine. His fingers intertwined with mine. Because of my extreme shyness, I tried to release my fingers. Gohan only gripped his fingers tighter in between mine. I didn't see any more point of resisting and let him hold my hand.
"Do you have anywhere in particular that you want to go to?" He asks, flashing a smile. I almost fainted after seeing that.
"No." I respond. "You can choose Gohan."
"I've never been on a date before..." He confess, shocking me.
"Never?"
"Never."
Wow, this can't be getting any better. This is his very first date! And what luck, it's also mine! eeeep! He's holding my hand. Hehehe, I can't wait to...
"Tania, you still there?" Gohan asks, once again waving his hand in my face. "Helloooooo?"
I snapped back out of my daydream. "Hm?"
"I know where we should go."
"Well, let's take off, okay? Use that instant transmission trick you learned." I suggested. Gohan squeezed my hand. "I don't think so, Tania. I'd rather take to the sky."
"But why?" I questioned, curious as to why he would rather take to the air. Instant Transmission is way faster!
"I want to spend more time with you." He blushed. My heart beat quickened. He wants to spend more t-time w-with m-m-me?
"Okay!" I squealed. I then paused and considered Gohan's body. "Hold on, Gohan."
"What's wrong?"
"Don't you think you should probably rest?" I asked. Gohan looked a bit tired to me.
"Ummm..." The half-saiyan stuttered.
I sighed then kissed him on the cheek. "It's alright, Gohan. We can go on our date once you rest up, okay?"
Gohan hugged me. "T-Thanks. I'm sorry that I had to make our date put on hold."
"Well, you and Tania were gone for the past week." Came a familiar voice.
"Who said that?" Gohan and I asks, looking around the empty room. I heard this voice before, but where is it coming from?
"And you're suppose to be my m-master?!" The voice spoke again but with a harsh tone.
"Oh! Wisheater!" I remembered. The sheath was leaning against the wall next to the bed. I ran over to it and strapped it around my back.
"Wisheater, did you say that Gohan and I were gone for a week?"
"Yes, I did." He answered. "Your friends and I had came a few days before the two of you. We were waiting, worrying a little."
"We're sorry." Gohan apologized sincerely. "We didn't mean to cause you and everyone else to worry."
"It's fine. Don't sweat it."
The door slammed open and a crying Goten came speeding into the room, jumping into Gohan's arms.
"Gohannnn!" The three-year-old wailed. "Where wore yewwwww?"
Gohan smiled and forced Goten to look him in the eye. "I was just taking a nap, squirt. There's nothing you should be upset about Goten. Your big bro can take care of himself, remember?"
"Yes, but..."
"Why don't we head back home Goten? How does that sound to you? Mom is probably gonna be cooking something really delicious." Gohan says to his little brother.
Goten's tears sucked back into his eyes. The tears were replaced with drool coming out of his mouth. He carried a very hungry look. "Oh boy! FOOD!"
Gohan and I began sharing a laugh. Gohan set Goten down.
"Do you think dad will join us this time, big brother?" Asks Goten.
Gohan scratched his head. "Y-You mean... You two already me-met?"
"Yeah, of course we did!" Goten blurted very excited. He proceeded to run up to me and grab my hand, pointing up at me as he did so. "Tania's the one who introduced him to me."
Gohan blinked a few times. "Is that so?"
The older half-saiyan looked at me for confirmation. I awkwardly stood where I was. Gohan probably wanted to be the one to bring those two together. I remember him talking about how if his father were to be brought back from the afterlife somehow, he would want to be the one to do the introduction. I'm such an idiot. I forgot.
"Gohan, its true. I'm really sor-"
"Thank you, Tania." Gohan acknowledged, surprising me.
"S-Sure."
What a pure heart...
"Shall we?" Gohan rested his two fingers square on his forehead. "Grab onto me you guys, we're heading back."
"Yippie!" Goten squealed.
I shrugged and placed my hand on Gohan's shoulder.
The teenager smiled slightly and in a instant we were standing outside of the dome shaped house. Goku was out with Krillin, dragging an enormous fish to the house.
"Woah, that's huge daddy!" Goten shouted, running over, staring at the dead fish in fascination.
"Glad you like it Goten." Goku chuckled. "This is gonna be our dinner for tonight little buddy."
"That must be the biggest fish you ever caught dad." Gohan comments, examining the water creature.
"Yeah Goku, I don't think i've ever seen a fish as big as that one." Krillin agreed.
"More fish..." ChiChi sighed dramatically, gazing at everyone outside from the opened door. As she gazed at everyone, a huge grin spread across her face. "Oh well, i'm not going to complain. My husband was magically brought back to life, Gohan is fine, Goten finally got to meet his father, and I found the perfect wife for Gohan."
"Mom..." Gohan blushed in embarrassment. Goten looked at Gohan and I then asked, "What's a wife? If it's a type of action figure then I want one."
Everyone fell over.
"Father like son I guess." Krillin joked.
"Hehe, yep." Goku laughed.
"You once did thought marriage meant food." ChiChi added, brushing dirt off her kimono.
"Mr. Bear got scared and ran away. Mr. Claw watched in complete awe as he somehow got the mean old bear to leave him alone. When Mr. Claw turned around, he realized that someone was standing behind him. Was this mysterious person the reason why the bear fled? What business does this person have with Mr. Claw? Read and find out next chapter of Mr. Claw's adventures." Gohan finished reading a chapter to his younger brother, who began to fall asleep. I stood by their bedroom door, listening the entire time.
Gohan watched his brother yawn before drifting off to sleep. The demi-saiyan smiled, ran his hand through Goten's hair and got up to leave the room. He passed by me without saying a single word.
"Hey, wait!" I call, catching his attention. Gohan didn't turn around and just stood with his back facing me.
"That story you've been reading to Goten is really good. You're a wonderful brother. I hardly ever read to my little sister."
Gohan slightly turned his face my direction. Using the corner of his eye to watch me. There was a small smile formed on his lips. "Thanks."
The boy's smile went away for a second. "Don't you think you should get some rest? It's almost midnight."
"Yes, but what about you?" I ask concerned a bit.
Gohan walked over to me until he was about five feet away. "Now that you ask, I do remember that I have some studying to do."
"Studying?" I repeat. "No, Gohan. Please, you should get some sleep like everyone else. Your mom didn't say that you had to study. She let you off for a few days."
"I know, but I can't fall behind on them. Its been a long time."
I was wearing my pajamas ChiChi allowed me to have. It was a purple tank-top along with black comfy pajama pants. Gohan was dressed in a black tee and grey sweatpants. His hair was still a bit out of place, but to me, he still looked very handsome.
The boy widely grinned. "I'm not gonna be up for too long, Tania. I promise."
"Okay, Gohan. I believe you, but still..." I argued. "Can't you atleast do this tomorrow or maybe the next day. I just want to make sure that you're completely fine."
Gohan hugged me.
"I already told you... i'm fine." He says softly before unwrapping his arms. "I'm gonna head back to my room now. Goodnight, Tania."
The demi-saiyan began walking away, waving to me as he directed his steps to his bedroom.
"Gohan!" I call again.
He stopped and looked back with a curious face. "Yes?"
I brought a loving smile to my face. "Goodnight, I love you."
"The feeling is mutual." He smiles, melting my heart as he did so.
Closing the door behind him, I sadly sighed and went to my room, which was across the hall. I flopped onto the bed and stared up at the ceiling.
Tomorrow...
Tomorrow...
Tomorrow...
Unable to relax properly on the bed, I kept flipping sides every five to ten minutes. I just couldn't sleep!
1:00 A.M.
1:30 A.M.
I looked at the clock every thirty minutes.
2:00 A.M.
2:30 A.M.
At three o' clock, I heard my bedroom door open. I pretended as though I was asleep. I could hear footsteps approaching me. I screamed and jolted up when this person had jumped on me very roughly. My eyes flew opened and there Goten was sobbing.
"G-Goten?!"
"T-T-Taniaaaaaaaaaaa!" He cried, tears spilling onto my tanktop.
"What's wrong?" I asked him. He looked at me with fear and said "I h-had a nightmare again! Waaaaaaa!"
I wrapped my arms around the toddler, like I would always do with my little sister, and quieted him down. "Shh, you're going to be okay Goten. It was just a dream... Your imagination kiddo. If you want, you can sleep in here with me so that whatever was bothering you in your dream, won't bother you here. I'll keep you safe."
"O-Okay, Tania. I'll sleep in here with you." The spiky-hair boy accepted.
"I heard screaming and crying!" Gohan rushed into the room with worry. He stopped when he notice Goten in my arms. When his brother saw him, he jumped out of my hold and hugged his brothers leg.
"Big brother, big brother, I had a scary dream then I woke up and became frightened, I ran to the closest room and Tania was in here to help calm me down."
Gohan lifted Goten up. Gohan allowed Goten to place his arms around his neck.
Soon, Goku was the next to appear, then ChiChi.
"My baby boy!" Goku's wife said, taking Goten out of his older brother's arms and placing him in her own. "What happened?"
"Goten just had a nightmare, ChiChi. That's all..." I answer.
-Morning-
My eyes fluttered open. I turned to my side to see a huge breakfast placed on a new table next to me. I immediately sat up. Oh wow! Scrambled eggs, pancakes, bacon, sausages, waffles, rice!
The entire table was filled with my most favorite foods. My stomach growled and just before I began to eat, Gohan came walking into my room with beverages. For what seemed like the billionth time, my cheeks burned up and my eyes were focused on the new figure that just appeared. Gohan was wearing his father's gi but along with it came a white apron that was loosened comfortably around his neck while another part of strings were tied securely around his waist. There were black bold letters on it that read "Son".
I noticed that the half-saiyan also added a chef's hat to the outfit. Because of his hair being so thick and wild, it was at the point of almost slipping off haha.
"Good morning." Gohan smiles a goofy smile. He set the drinks down on the table.
"G-Good morning, G-Gohan." I stutter, realizing that I probably looked like a complete mess while he looked so handsome and innocent. When our eyes met, I quickly avoided the gaze by looking down.
"What's wrong?" Gohan asks, suspicious of my actions.
"No-Nothing." I began fidgeting a little, playing with my hair.
He kept staring at me, making me even more nervous. Seconds later, he laughed, rubbing the back of his head. "I forgot about something. I guess this is the best time to recommend something to you."
I blinked. "Recommend what?"
"Your hair is so long..." He begins. I raised an eyebrow. "And?"
Gohan continued smiling and walked up to me, running his fingers through my hair. "Your hair is always the first thing the enemies we face always grab onto. I hate to see your long hair getting pulled that hard. Honestly, i'm surprised that some of it didn't rip right off."
I lowkey glared at him. However, I knew that his statement was absolutely true. "So, what's your point?"
"Maybe you should cut it."
"Are you kidding?!" I respond in a negative way. "There's no way i'm cutting my hair! Do you have any IDEA how long this took me to grow out?"
"Oops, i'm sorry. I didn't know you would be so sensitive to it. It was just a thought." Gohan says in his defense.
I calmed myself.
"Your hair is already down to your waist. Even your tail is having a hard time moving around without tangling itself around it."
Focusing my attention behind me, I observed how my tail was in fact struggling to move correctly. I sighed. "I don't know..."
"You don't have to if you don't want to." Gohan spoke again. The young man remembered about the breakfast sitting on the table. "Anyways, I think you should eat your breakfast. Its probably getting cold. I made it just for you."
"You? Really? All by yourself?" I quickly reply surprised that he even knew how to cook.
"Actually... Mom helped me out a bit." Gohan cleared his words.
"You sure she didn't cook everything?" I ask sarcastically.
"Hey, give me some credit. I tried."
I giggled. "Alright, i'll give this a try."
I reached for a plate and picked up the chopsticks. "Lets see..."
I slowly popped a sausage into my mouth and chewed it. Seconds later, an incredible taste was spreading throughout my tastebuds. Just like that, I fell in love with what Gohan had made. Using my chopsticks, I began eating at a fast pace, much like every other saiyan.
"I'm guessing you like it then?"
I nodded my head. "I...I...It's great! Thank you for making this for me"
Gohan looked at the floor shyly.
"I'm glad you like it." He blushed. There then was a sound coming from his stomach. I stopped eating immediately and gave him a bowl full of rice and scrambled eggs. "You're such a gentleman. It's obvious you didn't have anything to eat yet Gohan. Here, take this and eat. I don't want you to starve now."
"Oh uh... Thank you."
Gohan's P.O.V
I wonder what's taking Tania so long... It's already been two hours...
"You look so handsome. My baby boy is going on his very first date." Mom comments, smiling proudly at me.
"I'm not a baby anymore mother." I say, a little annoyed. Mom just smiled and responded, "Of course you're not a baby anymore but your my son and i'll always consider you as my baby."
I sighed. "Yeah, I guess."
I wore a white chinese style jacket with black trousers and black shoes. (A/N- The same outfit he wore during the 10 day rest before cell games)
Soon, bulma, who had came to visit, walked into the living room.
"Don't you look handsome." The blue-hair woman complimented me. "Tania sure will be feeling lucky."
I didn't say anything and blushed in embarrassment.
Bulma winked with a smile. "However, once you see Tania, my friend, you're going to feel truly blessed."
She turned to the closed door and shouted, "Don't be shy Tania! Let everyone see how beautiful you look."
"I don't know about this Bulma." I hear Tania reply behind closed doors. Bulma became a little annoyed. "Tania, you look gorgeous, trust me. When Gohan sees you, his jaw will drop."
"A-Alright, I'll c-come ou-out then."
The girl opened the door and made her way to where everyone else was. My eyes glued to her immediately. I felt my heart pounding inside my chest as I stared at how lovely she appeared.
Tania's outfit consisted of a sleeveless peach-pink dress that went down to the middle of her thighs with a black belt strapped around her hips. Her dark brown tail was flinging behind comfortablely through a small hole she made in her dress. Over the dress was a light blue sleeveless jean jacket with buttons. She also wore black shoes similar to mine.
The first thing I noticed, however, was how flawless her face looked with black eyeliner beneath her eyes and what looked like pink lip gloss covering her lips. I always thought that she looked breath-taking without those things on but...
"She looks so beautiful..." I accidentally spill out. I immediately covered my mouth since I didn't want anyone to hear exactly what I thought.
"Gohan, now tell me... did I hear just hear you call Tania beautiful?" Father teased.
I felt my cheeks burn up. "Er.. uh..."
"Big brother, why is your face all red?" Goten naively asked, staring up at me.
Mother and Bulma giggled. Tania was looking at the floor a bit uncomfortable. I noticed as she did that her hair, that was usually down to her waist, was now cut a lot shorter. Her black, straight hair now touched a bit passed her shoulder blades. Her short bangs slanted over to the left side of her face.
"S-So what do you think, Gohan?" Tania questions me shyly.
I used my super speed and tightly held Tania in a hug.
"G-Gohan!" Tania tries to push me away, a deep blush clearly evident on her face.
I only resisted and continued hugging her even tighter. I could hear her and my own heart beating at the same pace. Eventually, Tania gave in and wrapped her arms around me.
"Tania, i can't believe you actually cut your hair. I thought you loved it?"
"I did. I mean I still do but... You do make a point about it being a serious issue in battles." Tania answers. She then pecked me on the lips. "Just admit it Gohan, you like it better with my hair shorter like this, huh?"
I pulled back and scratched my head confused. "I uh... really don't... know."
Tania looked a bit agitated. Her slightly cold eyes pierced through my soul. How scary...
I laughed nervously, taking Tania's hand. "We best get going now."
Finally, I don't have to study, train or prepare myself for a life or death fight. Spending all day with Tania, living in peace, is just what I need today.
