Chapter 21- Vegeta makes his comeback

I would say it was a familiar scene but looking at it realistically, it wasn't. For starters, it wasn't night, the ape wasn't naked, (which I personally thought a shame because once he transformed back to his normal self he would still be dressed; damn the invention of stretchy clothes) and the most important fact was Vegeta seemed to be in complete control of himself. And that in itself was the most dangerous part.

"So, that's our true power huh?" Goku smiled weakly.

"Oh yes Kakarot. You're a fool to have cut of your tail. I am going to use this power to crush you to an inch of your life in the most painful way possible as payback for ruining my pride" His voice rumbled through the mountains, ten times louder than it had been before.

Without hesitation Vegeta swung his massive ape arms into the mountain Goku was stood on, Goku himself only leaping to safety a millisecond before. How he was still standing I had no idea. If he had any hope of surviving right now his only hope would be to hide.

Vegeta continued his rage through the mountains as Goku jumped from each one to the next and I saw him try to sneak himself into a crevice.

I wanted to help, I really did. But I was at a loss for what I could do. By the startled look in Goku's eyes it was obvious he had never seen this transformation in his life whereas I had. Not that it did me any good. There was only two options. Blow up the moon, which would have been the first thing to do if it was a real moon, which it wasn't.

The other option- untested but more than likely to work- was that we cut of his tail.

The tail had to be a key point in it all, because Goku didn't have one and he was still human enough despite the blaring moon.

'That's nice and all but how do you propose you do that. Surely you can't just expect to fly up to an ape fifty times your size and ask him nicely if you can cut of his tail'

So I hadn't quite figured that part out yet. At least I had a half-baked plan unlike Goku.

Speaking of which, he really needed to refine his hide and seek skills.

Either that or Vegeta's eyesight was bordering on x-ray vision.

I watched a pattern emerge. Goku would dodge a huge fist, find the closest mountain and slip into a crevice. Ape- Vegeta would then roar animalisticly before smashing the exact mountain Goku was hiding in. It would have been amusing if it wasn't so damn deadly.

Apparently Goku seemed to come to the same conclusion because he suddenly changed tact. He flew over Vegeta, coming to rest behind a rocky plateau before flinging his palms skyward, almost performing a sun salutation.

Vegeta's eyes flashed red as he stopped thrashing around and searched visually.

Whilst Goku was still hidden, he started pulling energy from outside his body instead of inside, white sprinkles of ki being pulled out from the skittering lifeforms and bare plants scattered around the wasteland. I then felt a tug at my own ki supply. Instinct forced me to block it out.

Ape Vegeta wasn't stupid though. His eyes flashed again as he picked up on the visual disturbance and he ran forward into Goku's new mountain; smashing it to miniscule pieces.

Goku hit the ground heavily, and the energy stopped coming.

He didn't stay down for long though, I'll give him that. He jumped back up onto unsteady legs and activated his kaioken. That was his first mistake. It might have worked on normal Vegeta but ape Vegeta just swatted him to the ground like a pesky fly.

Things rapidly started going downhill as Goku's eyes rolled back in his head and he hit unconsciousness. Vegeta flashed pointed fangs that were exact replicas of Piccolo's before he slammed a furry fist into Goku's middle.

When Goku didn't wake up he used the other one.

I suddenly felt dizzy as he pounded Goku's ribs, a snapping occurring every so often.

Yet if I jumped in I would just be another victim. Not that it made me feel any better. Surely Piccolo wouldn't have just watched.

'You seem to have forgotten about me. There's no way in hell I'm letting you go out there to get yourself killed'

The fourth rib snapped as Goku's eyes flew open. Ruthless determination filled those blue eyes.

"Solar flare!" He yelled, pressing the tips of his fingers to his eyes and shutting them firmly. For a moment, all was still. And then there was a blinding white glare, burning my eyes like fire. Pain flashed in dots over my forehead, and even as I felt the energy ebb away my view was still a blazing white universe. Somewhere I heard ape Vegeta scream. He sounded like I felt. A white hot agony.

I heard a rock crumble somewhere as Goku took to his feet again and resumed his gathering of energy. The tug applied itself more forcefully this time and without my eyesight, it broke my resolve down until I gave in, letting the pull take a steady stream of energy.

Surprisingly it was painless, and I felt no weaker as Goku took a portion of my ki.

Clarity hit, as my ki and others formed a ball- that Goku was gathering an attack.

Instead of relying on his own strength, which clearly wasn't enough. He had somehow learned to extend energy gathering to the life of the planet. The best part being he wasn't taking too much either, because even though I could not see I sensed lifeforms still around me.

The ball steadily grew, and it was odd to think that even a lizard could have energy to offer.

Then again, colours were starting to come back to my eyes; which meant soon enough Vegeta would regain his eyesight too.

Five minutes passed, and colour had flooded its way back to me. By Vegeta's outraged roar I could tell he was back too.

I spotted Goku about five metres away from me, smiling as he observed the ball of energy in his palms.

And holy hell, that was one massive ball of energy.

You could probably kill a planet with that thing.

"It's done" he exclaimed happily. Right before Vegeta blasted a mouth beam of fire at him.

It was too late to move.

Goku wasn't burnt but he was down. The full impact of having four broken ribs only just bypassing adrenaline. Still he tried to get up, but Vegeta was having none of it.

Smoke hissed from his nose as he lifted a giant foot above his body, bringing it down quickly on his legs.

I tried hard to keep down the nausea as both legs cracked into pieces. Goku wouldn't be getting up anymore.

Goku wriggled along the ground before coming to terms that he could not move his legs. He turned to his hands next, firing a wave of red ki straight into Vegeta's left eye.

The earth shook violently as the ape roared, bringing a paw to clutch his useless eye. Tension drained from Goku's body as he gave up, knowing there was nothing he could do now.

Vegeta turned his remaining eye on the helpless saiyan. He was enraged beyond sanity now, and for him there was no fun left in the fight now that Goku had given up.

He swiped a dirty paw underneath Goku, scooping up his body and then crushing it between his furred fingers.

The fun was over- so now he was going to kill him.
