chapter 11: Ryu's past part 2- Ryu vs Kyokai

After hearing Mira's explanation of the creature, Akiza summoned her Dragon familiar Rose and with the master, Mira, Kura, Helen and Gildarts they flew off towards Ryu.

back in the ice arena Ryu clenched his fist and rushed Kyokai, using the dragons short arms against him he dove under him and fired a breath attack at the dragons belly. Kyokai roared in pain as Ryu got out from underneath Kyokai and leapt high into the air. Ryu held his hands in front of him and formed a magic circle.

"Crimson Dragon's Draco Meteor!" Ryu fired a barrage of balls of dragon magic at Kyokai who formed a wall of ice between them to protect himself.

Boy that was the spell Glaciate, he can use his magic to freeze the air around him into a solid shape!

"sounds like Grey's ice make magic..." Ryu landed a few meters from Kyokai and took a fighting stance. Kyokai lunged at Ryu with impressive speed for his size and smashed his claw that was covered in ice into the boy sending him into a wall. Ryu slid to the floor and looked at his left arm that was struck, watching the dragon scales he formed freeze and fall off.

"that was close, if i hadn't formed my dragon scales i would've been in trouble" Ryu clenched his fists and summoned an aura of fire around him.

"lets see how your ice deals with this! Metsuryu Ogi! Dragon Flame Blade!" Ryu threw his hands forward launching a blast of flames at Kyokai that turned into a dragon and exploded with great force upon impact, the shock wave of which shook the entire crevasse.

Akiza looked on at the valley below from Rose's back when she saw the red flash of Ryu's attack emit from a cave "Rose, down there!"

"i see it!" Rose called and flew towards the cave.

Ryu stared at the smoke as he waited for it to clear, then a voice echoed through the cave that sent chills down his spine "That was quite an impressive technique for someone so young, but sad to say..." the smoke cleared to reveal Kyokai now standing eleven ft, its legs were just like before, but shorter and the middle toe was now ice. it had some extra icy details on it's legs. Its tail was larger now and attached to the body with three gray parts of skin. The tail appeared capable of movement and contained four holes: they are horizontal. It's torso is more slim and Its shoulders were covered in 'squares' of ice with two pins protruding from each. it had thin arms with two rings and three claws each, wings between the rings on its forearms, and its right arm and wing were frozen. The ice covering one it's upper jaw had partially disappeared, allowing it to move its mouth.

"so this is one of the other forms i heard about, the form of the vast white dragon, Kodaina Shiro"

"soooo you did your research, that's good, you'll need all the help you can get!" Kyokai lunged at Ryu with increased speed and swung its claws at the boy who used his own speed spell to dodge the attack. Ryu took a deep breath and fired another blast of crimson flames at the dragon who took the attack without even flinching.

"sorry to say child, but in this form fire dragon based spells have little effect on me"

(AN: most of the resent and yet to be seen attcks in this fight will be based on pokemon moves since if you hadn't noticed readers that Kyokai is in fact, Kyurem and you can guess who the vast white dragon is, and Kyokai's abilites and defenses will be based on his stats in the pokemon games so go to the pokemon wiki for kyurem to see them)

Kyokai fired a blast of sound in the form of a high pitched roar that wrecked Ryu's ears, and unfortunately the roared echoed in the large cavern forcing Ryu to cover his ears and divert his attention to ignore the pain, which sadly was not as easy as it seemed. Kyokai released a harsh cold wind from his body that surrounded Ryu and burned away at his body. Shinku roared from inside Ryu's consciousness as Ryu's body was completely frozen in a large chunk of ice.

Everyone arrived in time to see Kyokai's Ice burn spell freeze Ryu solid. Akiza leapt into the frozen arena and glared at Kyokai "let my son go Kyokai!" the dragon turned to Akiza and chuckled.

"the boy challenged me and lost, so he paid for it, if you wish for him to be free then face me in battle, if you defeat me i will free him, but if you are defeated i will add you to my trophy collection" Akiza looked to her son then back to her daughters. She turned to Kyokai and nodded.

"fine i challenge you!"

"Challenge excepted!" Kyokai roared as he returned to his normal state. Akiza slammed her hand on the ground and formed a magic circle that caused thorn covered vines to emerge from the frozen floor and rush towards Kyokai. The dragon didn't move as he did not have to. The vines were inches away when they froze, cracked and collapsed from the dragons internal cold air that entered and exited his body.

"much like your familiar, you are powerless to stop me, Black Rose Dragon slayer!" Kyokai transformed into his vast white form and powered up a large red sphere of flames that poured out of his tail not emitting intense heat and roaring like a turbine. Kyokai launched the sphere and Akiza who closed her eyes and awaited death. But death did not come, she opened her eyes to see Ryu stopping the blast with his bare hands.

"THIS IS BETWEEN YOU AND ME KYOKAI, LEAVE THEM OUT OF THIS!" Ryu roared as his body was encased in a crimson red aura the raged like an inferno then Ryu began to absorb the attack into his body not through his mouth like a dragon slayer would, but through his entire body. When the dust from the scene cleared Ryu had the same red aura wrapped around him, his eyes were no longer ocean blue, they were instead the same color as the aura, his hair was a light red color, no longer black and each spike of hair was visible, especially the three the stood over his four locks of hair, all three together looked like horns, or a...Crown... The six claw marks on his face were now red and all of his wounds that were previously present had vanished as if they were never there at all.

"Ryu, what happened?... " Akiza asked as she looked on in awe at his sudden transformation. Ryu looked over his body in suprise at his change, unaware of what he was now.

"so it's finally happaned..." Ryu looked over at Kyokai who seemed to be grinning.

"what do you mean?" Ryu asked.

"do you recall the tale of the dragon king Acnologia?" Kyodai asked. Ryu nodded.

"yeah, the dragon slayer who fought in the dragon civil war 400 years ago"

"yes, and 400 years ago he achieved a power no other dragon slayer could, the form of dragon king"

"wait there's a form, i thought it was just a title?" Ryu asked, Shinku appeared using his magic energy to form a visible ethernano body next to Ryu.

"that is false, dragon king is a transformation that a very rare few dragon slayers ever achieve"Shinku gestured for Akiza to stand up and for the others to join them.

"Ryu, the claw marks on your face were not just the result of my sealing within you, but the result of your soul touching the dragon crown"

"whats that?" Kura asked as they walked over.

"the dragon crown is not a physical object, but a spiritual one, if a dragon slayer goes through mental and spiritual training their souls will touch the crown, but in order to achieve the form of dragon king, one must have the urge and devotion the protect something that he or she cares about" Kyokai added in.

"the form uses the color of your magic and alters your body, since Ryu's was Crimson dragon magic, his hair, eyes and marks turned red and his magic aura became visible, and when it comes to power, it multiplies your magic power by many folds and increases your speed, strength, durability, and stamina, and in this form, some of your own weaker dragon slayer spells will become much more powerful, this is a form that no regular dragon slayer can attain, because being a crimson dragon slayer as well as a jinchuriki, Ryu, your body can handle the strain of the immense power boost"

"what about the bijuu magic energy i can get from you?" Ryu pointed at Shinku.

"do you not recall, months ago during our training you told me you did not want to rely on my power, so no one would see you as a demon"

"now Ryu, do you wish to continue our battle?" Kyokai asked. Ryo nodded as the aggression he had been suppressing boiled to the surface. Shinku vanished into Ryu's mind scape with Shinzo and the others backed away. Ryu took a fighting stance.

Kyokai fired a breath attack at Ryu who easily dodged it and appeared behind Kyokai. Ryu placed his hands on Kyokai's back and fired a blast of energy that sent the dragon flying. Kyokai recovered and spun around, charging a new attack in the form of a blast of lightning. Ryu dodged the attack and rushed at Kyokai. The dragon raised its claw and swung. Ryu dodged the claw drop kicked the dragon before grabbing him by his large foot and throwing him a distance away.

Even though a short time had passed Ryu could feel the new form taking its toll on his body. Ryu grunted as he cupped his hands and pulled them off to his right side.

"Ryu-o-Ha-Me-HA!" Ryu threw his hands forward and released a blast a red magic energy towards Kyokai. The Dragon was unable to recover in time and took the blast head on. Kyokai plummeted from the cloud of smoke and crashed to the ground, his armor was broken and his body in pain. Ryu looked on at the dragon as he chuckled.

"i concede, it would seem that there is another who is capable of defeating me" Ryu took in Kyokai's words in curiosity
