Hello citizens of the internet. (That sounded really lame, didn't it? Sorry.) So I'm still trying to get my school and this balanced. And failing a class isn't exactly helping my composure. But I really wanted to get this chapter down and out to you guys. (Especially after last time.) But yeah, I really want to get this scheduling down, just bear with me, ok? Hope you have enjoyed the ride so far, and I hope you will continue for as long as it goes on for. Whelp, it's time to get started I guess. I don't own PJO.

Chapter 9: Chispas
Leo
Percy's attacks were really scary. Like, I've been having panic attacks for years, ever sense my mom died. You'd think a seasoned veteran like me would know enough to remain calm in these situations. But as soon as I noticed something was off with Percy, I freaked. I thought he was fine. That's the whole reason I brought him back. I mean, I knew he was afraid, but that's it. I thought that if someone helped him, he would be fine, especially if that person was experienced in the whole "accidently murdering someone" thing. Oh yeah, you probably don't know about that.
I killed my mother.
It was an accident. I was only eight, and my mom was closing up her mechanic shop. I decided it was a great idea to play with the wires. Somehow, I survived. I don't know how or why. And honestly, I wish I hadn't survived. I wish it was my mom who made it. Why should I-
I'm sorry. I got a little carried away there. Everyone said it wasn't my fault. Well, everyone but my family. Aunt Rosa turned all of them against me. That's why I'm in the foster program.
Anyway, back to Percy. He was doing so well. He and Annabeth were hitting it off again. He seemed happy. And I ruined it. That seems to be a recurring thing. I killed my mother, more recently I ruined Calypso's visit to her sister, now I ruined something that I started in the first place. That's just wonderful. Me jodes.
It didn't help that the cause of it all, Calypso, was hanging all over me at lunch. Calypso explained that after lunch. "Sorry if that made you uncomfortable."
"Oh, I was uncomfortable. What possessed you to do that?" I said.
"I'm sorry. Honestly, it was jealously. He looked so happy with Annabeth. I just wanted to make him feel the same thing."
"Wait. You like him, so you crawl all over me to make him jealous?" I'll admit, I was a bit aggravated. I was a bit red in the face.
"Look, I'm sorry. It was dumb, and petty, and I shouldn't have used you like that. I'd like to still be friends, if that's ok." She looked down.
"Ok." I said. "We can be friends. But don't do that anymore."
"Yeah," she said, "no problem."
"And," I said, "I get to see where you're staying."
"What?" she asked, almost jumping, "Ew, no you perv."
"No, not like that." I explained. "I'm just saying that you saw where I lived, so it's only fair."
"W-Well" she stuttered, "I don't even know when we could."
"I'm free this weekend."
"Look, I'm not finished moving in yet. Give me like a week to get it all in order." She was still stuttering. "But I would like to come over this weekend, if that still is available."
I smiled. "Yeah sure," I said, "but I choose what we do."
"Deal." She said with a smile. "Well, I gotta get to class. See you later."
"Bye," A giant smile was on my face. Then I realized something. I just asked out Percy's ex. Hijo de puta.
The rest of the day went by without a hitch. There was a new substitute teacher in English class. He was alright. Percy seemed to really like him, which was odd. He was just kind of a teacher, you know?
I don't want to bore you with dreadfully boring accounts of rest of my classes, or any of my classes really. Noting really happens. Sorry if that's boring. Ask Percy if you want more interesting stories. Heck, Annabeth probably has better school stories then me. I mean, they both do a bit more than I do in class.
It's after school that the stories get interesting; also, the hallways; and lunch; basically anywhere that isn't a stupid classroom. This particular story starts in the parking lot. I was on my way to my car when Jason jumped in front of me. "Hey man. What's happening?"
"Hey Jason," I said, sidestepping him. "Not much. What's up with you that can't wait until we get home?"
"Well actually, I have a little favor to ask." He said, putting his hand around my shoulder.
"What?"
"Well," he said, "you know how Piper and Hazel were talking about going out tonight?"
"Yeah," I said, "they said something about wanting to go shopping, right?"
"Right," he said, holding out the vowel just a bit too long. "Here's where we have a problem. You see, Hazel doesn't have a car,"
"Ok, get to the point."
"Ok, the point is, I gave Piper my car for tonight. And I also have a thing to do."
"Do you mean visiting Nico?" I asked.
"That'd be it. So, I don't have a car."
"No." I said, walking away from him.
"Oh come on. It's not even for me, it's for Nico." He said as he ran up to me.
I turned. "Does Nico even like you?"
His hands shot up. "Not important. I'm trying to help him."
"You're not doing a great job, man." My eyes rolled.
"Wow, Leo," he said with the blankest expression possible, "thanks. Really."
I patted him on the shoulder. "No problemo, mi amigo." I started walking again.
"At least give me a ride back home." He said as I reached the car.
"Fine." I waved him over to my car. With a smile he came over.
"And you know, the hospital is on the way-"
"Ok," I snapped, "why do you want to go so bad? Seriously, you can miss one day."
He remained calm. "Nico di Angelo needs a friend he can rely on. One who he can see every day." He said.
"Who made you that friend?" I asked.
He turned his head. "I did, obviously." He said. "If I didn't then who would?"
I paused. "Fine," I said, "on one condition."
"And what would that be?" He asked with a smile.
"You're paying for gas," I said
"Oh yeah, no-" he started.
"For the next month."
He paused for a second. "Alright." He said finally. "That's fair enough." I knew it wasn't but hey, now I had free gas for a month. And I could milk it for all the month was worth. And he knew that I would.
"Let's get going then." I said as I turned the ignition. "To the hospital."
The hospital was just like last time. It almost sparkled with cleanliness. The white walls honestly freaked me out. I'm sure Jason was used to it by now, but I sure wasn't. I try to avoid the place as much as possible. As I waited outside of Nico's room, my eyes inevitably traced to indents on the walls. Yes, I was that bored. Occasionally I caught bits of their conversation. Nico's first reaction when Jason came in was "Uhhhhhhhhh. You again?" I laughed my butt off. I made a mental note to remind Jason of that. I heard a little bit more. It was mostly depressing stuff about therapy and how much being in the hospital sucked. Tell me about it.
I was grateful that I brought my headphones with me. Some days I would forget them at home. I was listening to my iPod, the song was Rockstar by A Great Big World, when a familiar face walked by. One that I was coming to familiarize with the hospital. Her cinnamon brown hair, styled in a ponytail, swished by my face. "Calypso?" I asked as I yanked one of the buds out of my ear.
She spun towards me. "Leo?" she asked with her face contorted. "What are you doing here?"
"I took Jason to see Nico, how about you?"
She looked down quickly. "I was just visiting my sister again." She still looked shocked.
"That's so weird." I said.
"Yeah," she said, catching her breath, "What are the odds?"
"Well if you're not busy, I'm kind of bored sitting here all by myself." I said, motioning beside me.
She smiled. "Sure." She said. "Why not?" She stood beside me. "What are you listening to?" she asked.
The song was over by then, and the headphone was kind of just in my ear uselessly. I took it out. "Nothing."
"Well what were you listening to?"
"A Great Big World" I said.
"Oh," she said, "I like them."
"Who wouldn't?"
She laughed. It was soft and gentle, like a summer wind. "Hey," she said, "You know how I kinda accidently asked you out?"
I rubbed the back of my head. "Yeah…"
"Well, I'm still up for it. But I'm actually free today. I was thinking maybe we could go over your house again." She paused. "If that's ok with you, at least."
"Well," I said, "I was gonna just watch a movie tonight."
"Which movie?" She asked.
"I hadn't decided yet." I said. "It seems like you're pretty confident I'll say yes."
"Well," she said with a smirk, "You gotta be confident, or you'll never get a sorta-kinda platonic date."
I smiled. Before I could respond, though, the door to Nico's room opened, and out walked Jason. "Oh, hey Calypso." He said. "What are you doing here?"
She started to speak but I cut her off. "Y'all can talk about this in the car." I said. "She's coming home with us."
"Well what did you spill this time?" He asked.
I glared at him. "Nothing."
"Well was the house just that impressive?" Jason asked with a laugh.
"Oh yeah," said Calypso, "I couldn't stay away."
"Well," said Jason, rubbing his hands together, "if we're going, let's get going."
Calypso nodded and walked towards the exit. I started behind her, but Jason pulled me aside. "Hey, if you need a little protection, I got you."
"Thanks Jason." I said, my ears burning. "But we're just gonna watch a movie."
"Hey man. " He said, throwing up his arms. "Whatever. But that can cause a bit of a spark, if you know what I mean."
By now my entire face was probably a bright red. "Let's just get going." And with that we headed off. I guess Jason was right. There certainly was a bit of a spark. But not in the way he was thinking. And not in any way I could imagine.
To be continued…
So, what did you think? Do you like where this is going? Do you like how I portray the characters, (even if Calypso is a teensy bit OOC)? Leave a review to let me know what you think. It can be anything, just please leave one. I want to make it better. So, until next time. Make good decisions. Peace!
