Author's Note: In this episode Brother Adrian has sent artifacts to Pete's ex-wife, Myka's sister, and Claudia's brother Joshua in an effort to hurt the Warehouse team. The first part of this chapter takes place at the airport as the three agents go to save their family members. Once arriving at Joshua's place Claudia manages to save him, but she also becomes concerned that something is seriously wrong with Artie. A Farnsworth call to Myka and Pete confirms those suspicions. The second part of this chapter takes place immediately after that call as Claudia prepares to head back to the Warehouse. I also have Leena making an appearance of sorts since she dies at the end of this episode, making this my last chance to write her. Sadness. The title for this chapter is the title of a song by Two Steps From Hell, which I suppose could serve as a soundtrack of sorts for the second portion of this chapter. Sorry this chapter is a bit shorter. I couldn't think of much to write, so hopefully this will suffice. Enjoy!
The Truth Unravels
"Okay," Claudia said, stepping away from the airport counter to where Pete and Myka were both waiting. "I think I'm good."
"What took so long?" Myka asked curiously.
"One of the flights I wanted got canceled, so I had to figure out another connection," Claudia explained. "But now my plane doesn't leave for an hour."
"That's not that long," Myka said, trying to reassure her.
"I'm just not good at sitting still," Claudia said irritably. "Especially when Josh is in trouble. I keep calling his cell, but he won't pick up."
"He's a smart kid," Pete told her. "He can take care of himself."
"What am I complaining for?" Claudia muttered. "You guys are in the same boat."
"It's okay," Pete said. "We get it."
"I wish I could wait with you, but I need to run," Myka said apologetically. "My flight leaves in twenty minutes, so I have to go if I want to get through security in time."
"Me too," Pete said, looking down at his ticket. "Mine boards in fifteen."
"You guys go," Claudia told them. "I'll be fine."
Myka pulled her in for a quick hug and then let her go so Pete could do the same.
"Call us if you need anything," Myka said firmly.
"Will do," Claudia assured her.
Pete gave her a final good-bye wave before he and Myka turned away. Together they began hurriedly making their way across the floor of the airport toward the security checkpoint. Claudia watched them until the crowd scattered across the airport finally blocked them from view. Then she pulled out her phone and dialed Joshua's number again. The familiar dial tone came over the speaker. She was really beginning to hate that sound.
"Come on, Josh," she muttered impatiently. "Where are you?"

Claudia's mind was spinning after hanging up with Pete and Myka. Something was very, very wrong with Artie. She needed to get back to the Warehouse. Now.
She got up from her chair and headed back into Joshua's house.
"Claude?" Josh called from the porch. He got to his feet and hurried after her.
"I have to get back to the Warehouse," Claudia explained as she grabbed up her bag. "Artie's been acting really weird and I don't know why, but I'm really worried about him. Something's wrong and I need to figure out what it is."
"Well, let me grab some stuff and I can come with you," Josh offered.
"No!" Claudia said quickly. Joshua's eyes widened at the force in her voice. Claudia shook her head to clear her thoughts. "Whatever this is, it's dangerous. Somebody already tried to hurt you once. You'll be safer if you stay here."
"Right," Josh said drily. "At the address that a crazed monk clearly already knows."
"So don't stay here," Claudia suggested. "Take a vacation. Go to the beach or something."
"The beach?" Joshua said. "Really?"
"I don't care where you go," Claudia told him urgently. "I just need to know that you're going to be safe."
"What if that's the point?" Joshua said suddenly.
"The point of what?" Claudia asked in confusion.
"You said Pete and Myka are in the field too," Joshua said.
"Yeah, so?"
"So Artie and Leena are at the Warehouse alone," Joshua explained. "What if the point of sending out the artifacts wasn't to hurt your family? What if Adrian was trying-"
"To get Artie alone," Claudia finished. Her eyes were wide with shock. "Ugh, I'm such an idiot!"
She whipped out her Farnsworth and quickly called Leena.
"Come on, come on," she muttered. Then the Farnsworth clicked and Leena's face appeared on the tiny screen.
"Claudia," Leena said. "Is Josh okay?"
"He's fine," Claudia said quickly. "Where's Artie?"
"He's somewhere in the Warehouse," Leena said slowly. "Why?"
"Something's wrong with him," Claudia told her. "He lied to me about knowing where Joshua was and he lied about the database being down. And Pete was having trouble with an artifact and Artie flat hung up on him. Leena, I think he may be losing it."
"You might be right," Leena admitted. "He left the office with a gun and he was talking about shooting Adrian. I've never heard him talk like that."
"There's something else," Claudia said. She glanced up at her brother and then back down at the Farnsworth. "Joshua thinks that maybe Adrian sent out the artifacts to draw us all away from the Warehouse. I think he might be coming after Artie for real this time."
"Oh my gosh," Leena gasped.
"Leena, you need to find Artie right now," Claudia said worriedly.
"I'm on it," Leena told her.
"Pete and Myka are both headed back to the Warehouse," Claudia said. "I'm gonna try to grab the next flight out of here, but the connections are crazy so they may beat me back."
"Okay," Leena said. "I'll call you as soon as I find Artie."
"Roger that," Claudia said. "I'll see you soon."
The screen went blank as Leena's Farnsworth hung up. Claudia closed her own and slid it back into her bag. Then she looked up at Joshua, who was watching her with a worried expression.
"I gotta go," Claudia told him.
"I know," Joshua said. "You go. I'll... go to the beach or something."
"Thank-you," Claudia breathed. She pulled him into a fierce hug. "Be careful, okay?"
"I will," Joshua assured her. "You be careful too."
"Aren't I always?" Claudia asked as she pulled away. Joshua chuckled.
"Call me if you need anything," he told her.
"Will do," Claudia told him. She gave him a mock salute.
Josh walked her through his small house to the front door, which he pulled open for her.
"Go save the world," Josh said with a smile.
"That's the plan," Claudia told him. "Later, bro."
She stepped out onto the porch and Joshua closed the door behind her. From there it was a short walk down the drive to where she had parked her car. She unlocked the vehicle and swung open the door, climbing into the driver's seat. Then she tossed her bag over into the passenger seat before sticking her key into the ignition.
"Okay, Robin," she said, turning the key. "Time to get back to the Batcave."
So this chapter was almost more of a filler. Sorry about that. But on the bright side I've had time to do some serious writing this week, and I'm almost done with all of the chapters for season four. So with a bit of luck, I should be able to post all the rest of the chapters of this story on a regular basis without any crazy breaks.
