Hey guys! Well, hope you like this chapter...Ahhh :)
Review please! I didn't sleep this weekend because I wanted to get at least one more chapter up for you guys!
"Take your clothes off."
Sokka whirled around in his open cell, his eyes open wide at the man he had once considered an ally. "WHAT? I am not stripping for you!"
Sangok's eyed narrowed and the ice under Sokka's feet shifted, sending him reeling back. He sighed and stripped down to his seal skinned underwear, his arms crossed over his toned chest. "What else do you want, traitor?" he spat.
Sangok smiled and raised his hand, in turn raising the bars that would cage the Southern warrior. He turned toward the stairs as he left and gave Sokka one final glance. "Your sister to return to me," he paused. "And it better be soon or else your life will forfeit." he added, gliding up the stairs.
Sokka scowled and rubbed his forearms. Was taking his clothing really necessary?
"Take your clothes off!" he mimicked, grumbling about the ridiculousness of it all. He swore as the cold started biting into his skin. How was he to survive in a room made out of ice?
Katara snorted beside me, pressing her hand to her chest as she tried to regain her composure.
"Zuko!" she said, her jaw dropping as she playfully hit the fire bender's shoulder. "I can't believe you would ever say such a thing!"
The traitor laughed, giving me a look that returned the annoyance in mine. I scowled and looked away, trying to ignore the eyes Azula was giving me. I turned to Zuko, interrupting his flirting with the women he knew I loved. "Zuko, where is Iroh? I haven't seen him here at all!"
Zuko faked a frown and stood. "Follow me, Aang."
I stood and followed him, once we were a good distance away, I poured into my rant. "Zuko, what are you doing? Flirting with Katara? You know how I feel about her!"
The Crowned Prince gave me a sly smile. "You aren't even trying to get her back, Aang! All you're doing is wallowing in your self pity. Perhaps if you proved to Katara that you still cared for her, she might not try to argue with you every chance she gets."
My eyes narrowed. "Don't try to give me advice, Zuko! You're a womanizer, why should I even listen?"
"Because I can get a woman to kiss me in five minutes. You can't get one to kiss you in 5 years. And don't blame your nomadic life, I've heard about the plentiful amount of women that have thrown themselves at your feet, begging you to take them. Aang, Katara is the one girl who isn't intimidated by your rank in the world. Take advantage of that."
I frowned, slowly nodding. I resisted the urge to tell him about the kiss we had shared not too long ago. Either way, I was distracted by a short, fat man. One I regarded with much respect.
"Avatar Aang! My little brother didn't tell me you were visiting!" his gruff voice chuckled, gathering the tall airbender into his short arms. "Welcome to the Fire Nation!"
I smiled at the sudden embrace. "It's good to be back, Iroh." I glanced at the man beside him and gasped. "Lu Ten?"
He smiled, sticking his hand in mine and shaking it quickly. "It's good to see you, Aang, my father has sorely missed his favorite tea companion."
I laughed, recalling my fond memories of tea time with Iroh. "Lu Ten, I didn't even recognize you! What's different?"
Iroh grinned from ear to ear. "He has the new father glow, Avatar! Can't you see the happiness in his eyes?"
I was taken aback, when had he even gotten married? I hadn't been gone that long, had I?
I cocked my head at him. "I didn't even know you were married..."
"He isn't." Zuko grinned. "What, Aang, you thought I learned all my tricks on my own?" His hand clamped down on my back, patting it roughly.
I rolled my eyes but smiled nonetheless, at least he wasn't abandoning the mother.
"Zuko!" Katara and Azula came bouncing up. In their hands were golden cups and then thick smell of alcohol filled my nose.
"Katara, are you sure you should be drinking that? Healers all over the world have told me that alcohol isn't good for the baby."
She gave me a weird look, as if I was speaking another language. She shook her head and latched onto Zuko's arm. "Let's dance!" she laughed, dragging him out to the dance floor.
Zuko gave me a helpless shrug as Azula pulled me along with the group of girls
My eyes burned holes into the back of the prince's head. He certainly wasn't fighting off Katara's obsession with him.
La, she was engaged, but she would dance like that with Zuko? Sangok would be throwing a fit if he saw the way she was pushing her body up against Zuko's. Moving her hips against his...oh La why are you so cruel to me?
"Aang?" Azula's tiny voice demanded my attention. "What's the matter? You seem so distracted..." her voice sounded hurt and I mentally kicked myself. Azula was my dance partner, I should be focusing on her, not Katara.
My gaze moved to her amber eyes. "Sorry, Zula, I should be focused on you."
She shrugged as her body began to move against mine. "It's fine, I'm worried about my brother too. I mean, he's twenty-six and not married yet. Mother and Father are beginning to wonder if he ever will marry. They want him to marry with another nation so that the world can begin to trust us again. That's why they disapprove of Mai so much. That and she wears so many colors that it gives us all a head ache."
My jaw dropped. "So they see Katara as a fitting bride for him?"
Azula nodded, her gaze shifting to her brother and the water bender. Her moving to the music brought her back to my front. "You have to admit, they seem to fit together really well. There's a life in both their eyes, and I haven't seen that in Zuko since Mai first slept with him."
I swallowed my anger and focused on Azula. Trying to forget that her brother and Katara even existed. "Let's forget about them," I whispered. My lips caressed her ear. "I only want to focus on you."
The diabolical princess turned around to face me, a small grin playing on her lips. She raised one eyebrow at me, waiting for me to prove my words. Her grin spread into a wide smile when my arms encircled her waist, pulling her to me. Hesitantly I bent my head down and pressed my lips to hers.
I hated myself right then. I was using Azula to get to Katara, but I didn't care that I was doing it, at least, not at that moment. I guess I justified my actions because my judgment was clouded by my jealousy, but nevertheless, I knew I would never forgive myself for this.
When I pulled away, the sparkle had returned to Azula's eyes. Her smile was wider, and her obsession with me was worse than it had ever been. Throughout the rest of the evening she clung to my arm, her hand entwined in mine. She wouldn't leave me alone. She was like a shadow.
Zuko's eyes bore into mine every time I gathered up enough courage to look at him. I knew that the second I was alone he would kill me. Especially since Azula was so in love with me, while my heart was set on one girl, and one girl only.
The birthday festivities continued and Azula was finally pried from my side to partake in her cake ceremony. I took this time to retreat outside, enjoying the warm breeze that pushed against me.
"Aang..."
I turned and sucked in a breathe. Katara.
She wandered up beside me, her bare arm brushing mine. "You look nice, in your Air Nomad attire," she said but betrayal hung in her voice.
I nodded. "Katara, you look simply divine in your dress. It's no wonder that Zuko can't take his eyes off you."
A small blush rose to her cheeks. "Zuko...yeah he's a sweetheart. But La, is he a ladies man. Not my type."
"You have a type?" I asked, trying to mask the eagerness in my voice. It didn't work.
She laughed. "Yeah, I guess I do. But I'm not telling you what it is." She smiled, rubbing her arms with her hands. "It feels like the South Pole here! I didn't think the Fire Nation could ever get this cold!"
I smirked. "Well you are wearing next to nothing," I chuckled, pulling off my outer cloak. "Here."
"Thanks," she whispered as she reached out and took it. Her fingers brushed mine and I began to wonder if that electric feeling was only a figment of my imagination. I adverted my gaze quickly as she slipped it on and she laughed. "It's not like I'm undressing, Aang."
I nodded in agreement. "But you're not mine to look at."
Katara sighed. "But I'm not his to look at either."
I whirled around. "What do you mean?"
"Aang! Here you are! You're missing the festivities!" Azula came running up, grabbing my arm.
Katara gave me a weak smile. "Well, I guess I better get back inside," she mused and retreated into the warmth.
Damn it Azula.
Sokka sat in the corner of his confinement, clutching the blanket that had been given to him to his body. It had been three days since Sangok had left him in here, and surprisingly enough, each time Sangok visited, Sokka was still alive. Granted, he was freezing during each of these visits, he was still alive. The tiny amount of food he was being give was beginning to wear him out though. Already the small amount of fat he had was diminishing.
But he had an ally. Each night someone would slip him a little bit of extra food through a small opening in the ice. Every night they would bring him a pillow and and extra blanket, and every morning they would come by early to pick it up. Sokka didn't know who his savior was, but he hoped that they would save him soon.
Princess Yue had heard a week ago that her engagement to the man she loved was over. He had supposedly left, saying that he couldn't stand to be in the North Pole any longer. Yue wasn't someone he wanted to be with. This news had sent Yue into a deep depression. She remained in her room all day, only to wander the city by night, when there was no one to disturb her.
Tonight, she decided to venture toward the edge of the water, where the watch towers remained. As she was walking, she noticed a pattern of footprints that settled at the base of one of the towers. She looked around, suspicious of what these footprints were doing there. Behind her, someone coughed and she turned.
She gasped when she saw Pakku staring back at her.
"Princess," he started. "What are you doing out here?"
"Uhm...well I'm going for a walk...but then I found these footprints...Master Pakku, do you know where they lead?" she asked, raising an eyebrow.
Pakku said nothing, only turning and walking further down the pathway. He abruptly turned and began descending.
Yue scrambled after him, stumbling down the staircase, struggling to keep her balance. When she made it to the end, a welcome voice met her ears.
"Love!"
She turned and her eyes burst with tears. "Sokka! Oh, you didn't leave me!" she ran to the ice bars, her hands cradling his face. "What are you doing in here?"
Sokka shook his head. "Sangok trapped me in here, Yue. He told me that Katara has run off with the Avatar and that I am his prisoner until she returns to him."
Yue shook her head. "We have to get you out of here!" She turned to Master Pakku. "Please..." she begged.
"Stand back, please," was all he said. The bars vanished in an instant, disappearing into the ground.
The two lovers immediately embraced, thanking Pakku shortly after.
"Come, I have a boat prepared for you. We must leave immediately!"
Sokka awoke with the sun beating down on him. His clothing was drenched and sand was tucked in all the wrong places. He groaned as he sat up, to his left, Yue lay unconscious, to his right, there was no one. He swore. That stupid storm. Pakku must have sacrificed his life to make sure that he and Yue survived.
Beside him, Yue groaned. "Mm, Sokka," she whispered, grabbing his hand as she slowly sat up. "What happened?"
Sokka shook his head. "I don't know...but I think Master Pakku is dead."
"Not as dead as you two are going to be."
Can anyone (aside from Paula) guess who said that last line?
