Pacific Ocean

Enterprise Island

Pan-Pacific Defense Corps. Shatterdome

Helicopter landing zone 7

13:20:50 PM

The air was filled with the excited hum of dozens of personnel helicopters busily setting down and unloading their precious cargo. Jaeger Crews.

One by one they poured out onto the thrilling deck, looking around, chatting, and in some instances practicing their Drift-compatibility. Everyone silenced as the island Marshal, North, made his appearance.

"Listen up everybody!"

He called out, his thick Russian accent showing like a sore thumb.

"You will become the sole line of defense and offense in the Pacific. Failure will result in our extinction!"

His voice carried out across the masses, who were now starting to feel twinges of self-doubt.

"This Base has had only one Jaeger, and one Crew, but we have silenced all aggressors to ever emerge from The Breach. I would like to keep that record, and not lose any of you! Am I making myself clear?"

The crowd went into a form of parade ready and yelled out;

"Sir, yes, Sir!"

He nodded.

"Good. I will call you each up to receive your stations and-"

The alarm blared, heralding the arrival of a massive Category IV. North instantly had the few returning veterans usher everyone inside. Once done, he slid his card and the doors slammed shut sealing them in.

Everyone was looking around in fear, as Mr. Choi brought up a video feed from an on site drone. They kept quiet as they saw a huge scorpion-like animal breach the surface. It was massive to say the least. Six stubby legs, two piercing red eyes, and three massive fangs protruding from its lower lip. It didn't have pincers, rather it had what looked like clubs on either limb. Its stinger lazily broke the surface, displaying its ugly blunted stinger. It let out a loud howling cry that was easily compared to glass breaking and then dove head long to its target. Straight for them. As the newer recruits erupted into an all-out panic, the comms clicked on, and the creature was suddenly catapulted back five hundred yards.

"Afternoon Tendo."

A voice chirped. The monitor flickered showing a man in his late twenties or early thirties, he had pale skin, and eyes so blue and hardened, they were nearly piercing. The Kaidonovskys recognized that voice anywhere. They turned just in time to see his partner's vid link activate. Tooth had matured as well, she still retained a bit of her gleam, but now seemed hardened from her prolonged exposure to battle.

"Ah, howdy hummingbirds."

Tendo said with a smirk.

Tooth reached up casually and clicked on her comm.

"Save the wise-cracks for later you two, or should I handle this myself?"

She jeered, as Jack shook his head.

"Okay Tendo, whatcha got for us? The Queen is getting impatient in here."

Tendo chuckled as Tooth just rolled her eyes.

"Category IV, codenamed Jaga. Scorpion style."

Jack sighed, and rolled his shoulders.

"And I thought this was going to be hard."

He looked at Tooth, who smiled and readied herself.

They moved the Jaeger into position, and were rewarded, by a quick strike from the Jaga's tail. It chattered angrily at them and drew its tail back up. Jack suddenly had a battle plan that fed to Tooth, who smiled her approval. She checked the seawater tanks in the hull, and nodded. Jack engaged the right arm wrist rockets and opened up a hefty barrage on the Kaiju. They froze as the shells just bounced off the shell without so much as scratching it. The Jaga seemed to hiss a laugh at the Jaeger, as it moved to them.

Everyone in the Shatterdome was panicking. The Jaeger was being pushed back too much. The Marshal had his fill of this and moved to a comm.

"Jack, Tooth! Get that thing into the deeper water, now!"

He bellowed. Jack tapped on the receiver as the Jaeger dodged another blow.

"Not yet."

He yelled back as the Jaeger took one to the torso. A siren began sounding.

"Jack our core is losing power!"

She cried as sparks flew all around them from frying circuitry. Jack only nodded, and she took a breath to steady herself. They had to stick to the plan.

They pulled onto the beach, and the Jaga pulled back to punch the Jaeger for a second, and possibly final time, with its tail.

"Now!"

Jack yelled. Tooth instantly froze the water in front of the Kaiju turning it into a mirror. The Jaga looked down and howled at its reflection, angrily jabbing its tail at it. Attention to the Jaeger otherwise diverted.

As it slammed its tail down hard into the rocky, shallows its tail jammed. As it began to pull back the Grey Ghost materialized an ice saber with the stored seawater in its tanks and hacked its tail off, before firing another salvo of their unique warhead down the monster's throat.

/

The Grey Ghost walked into its home port to meet a thunderous applause from those gathered below. Jack and Tooth gladly notched up another kill to their tally under the painted banner from what felt so long ago now. Tooth happily embraced her parents, while Jack hung back bobbing his head to them politely, though he still received a bear of a handshake from Aleksis. They turned and met hundreds of young faces, their replacement and relief crews. So young to know the harshness of this war.

There was Korra, Mako, and Bolin. Three friends piloting a vamped up Mark IV. Jack Sparrow, and Hector Barbossa piloting a mammoth like Jaeger with large cannon mounted shoulders, and so many others that he couldn't catch them all. He was still in a daze when North suddenly walked up to him with a indigo slip. He gulped. That could only mean one thing.

Temporary Transfer

Manila

Jack sighed. If there was one thing he hated more. It was being ordered to take a vacation.

Nonetheless, he complied, and went with Tooth to pack up for their vaca- 'assignment.'
