Hey, guys! NinjaMaster here. I hope you guys had a wonderful weekend, and if you did, well, that's great! I have another chapter for you guys, and guys, I AM SO CLOSE TO HITTING 100 REVIEWS! I know that's not that big of a milestone, but it is for me. I just love to hear your guys' support and love for this series. Because of it, I am planning on making a sequel, which is already in the making. If this chapter gets a lot of reviews, maybe I will post a sneak peek for the next book soon. But that all depends on you guys :)
Anyways, here is Chapter 14! (Special credit to KittyJen for doing the majority of this chapter)
Derp's POV-
These last few days with these Minecrafters have been... somewhat an odd and frustrating experience.
After we had defeated the Flytrap monster, we traversed away from the GeoForest and settled to a nearby clearing to rest until morning. I waited until all of the Minecrafters were sleeping and once they were, I snuck out of my tent and took off to meet up with my brothers. They were waiting near a large boulder, away from the crafters. Once I got to my brothers, I asked, "Why did you two call me here?"
Derpious stepped up to me and said, "Derp, it's been days now. When can we take the Butter God's amulet? The opportunity to take it is right now, and you haven't told us yet when we can take it!"
"Look, we can't make our move just yet. I have to gain his trust first until we can take it. I feel like he still hasn't gotten to know us because of the recent events that have happened," I explained to him.
"Well, for our sake, it better be quick. I'm starting to miss my old body," Derpious admitted, shaking his bangs out of his face while Derpy stood beside him, scratching his arms furiously during our whispered rant.
I gazed over at him and asked, "Uh... what's wrong with him?"
Derpious took a quick glance at the Squid-turned-human, looked over at me and said, "Oh, him? Yeah, during our exploration in the Wheezy Swamps, Derpy got bit by several bugs along the way."
"Ugh, who knew being a human could have so many disadvantages?!" Derpy complained, itching his left arm and leaving scratch marks over the small bites that marked his arm.
Tilting my head to the side, I then asked him, "Uh... are you going to be okay, Derpy?"
He starts scratching his back against the rough bark of a tree as he answers nonchalantly, "I'll be fine. I don't want to look like a wimp in front of the crafters when I ask them to help me with this problem. Besides, out of all of us, I'll the toughest, bravest, roughest, and the most- Agh! Notch, these bites frickin' itch!" Derpy started rolling himself across the ground in a attempt to find relief from his bites. Derpious and I only watched as he rolled past us.
Eventually, Derpious spoke out. "Derpy, you never cease to amaze me with the fact that you're still with us."
Derpy stopped rolling to look up at us and he stated, "Thanks. I try not to show off too much."
"I was being sarcastic," Derpious said, narrowing his gaze on our brother.
"Well, I just took your belt!" Derpy quickly retaliated, picking up a black leather belt. The next thing I saw from Derpious was his pants falling down. He blushed in embarrassment as he quickly covered himself. I slightly turned away, trying to suppress an oncoming laugh by covering my mouth with my hand. He glared at Derpy and swiped the belt from him.
"Give that back, you freak!" He cried out. Derpy chuckled as Derpious picked his pants up and tightly wrapped his belt around the loops. Once it's on, he glanced over at me and noticed my struggle against my laughter.
"Are you laughing?!" Derpious questioned in shock.
I quickly turned to him and said, "No... I-I-I'm just quivering 'cause it's so cold!"
Derpious sighed in agitation, then starts to walk away. "Whatever. I'm going to sleep. Once you make up your mind, Derp, you tell us," Derpious exclaimed, walking back to the camp site. But once he was out of sight, I fell over and laughed extremely hard. Derpy joined in with me, letting out his laughter. After a few minutes, our laughter began to subside and we managed to catch our breath.
"Okay... okay, that's enough, Derpy. Let's-let's go back to sleep," I said, panting. He nodded, got to his feet, and made his way back to the camp. I followed him, but I stopped as I glanced ahead and saw the Butter God sleeping next to the one he loved in a tent with the flaps open. As Derpy disappeared into his tent, I stared sternly at the two, whom were in a deep sleep with their hands interlocked. Slowly, I padded up to the tent and looked over at them. Their heads were near the opening of the tent and laying on top of Sky's chest... was the Butter Amulet.
Taking a risk, I cautiously reached a hand out to grab the amulet. It seemed to glow dully as I neared my hand towards it. But as I grabbed the brim of it, it lit up and let out an electrical shock in my hand. I yanked my hand out of the tent, wincing in pain. I grasped on to my shocked hand, cursing under my breath. I gazed at my hand; nothing seem to be seriously injured. I glared at the Butter God.
"You got lucky, Fisher. But next time... we will take the amulet and there will be nothing that you can do to stop us," I evilly thought to myself. Taking one last glare, I stepped away from the couple and made my way back to my tent.
Dawn's POV-
I felt sunlight hit my face. I slowly opened my eyes and saw that morning had arrived. Stretching my arms out, I got into a sitting position and rubbed my eyes. I saw Adam slowly awaken and haul himself up beside me.
"Is it morning?" He tiredly asked.
"Yeah. We should get going," I responded. Crawling out of the tent, I saw that several of the guys had already woken up and started gathering up their supplies. Suddenly, I felt an unusual gust of hot air flow in my hair. I gazed to my right and in the distance, I faintly saw an outline of a volcano. While looking, I turned my attention as AntVenom walked up to me.
"Is that where we're going next?" I questioned, looking back at the volcano.
AntVenom gazed at the volcano and stated, "Yep. That's the Emerald Volcano, rumored to be holding the Death Blade Katana. From what I studied, this volcano hasn't erupted for more than 5,000 years. Many thought that it was extinct, but from the looks of it from here, it looks like it may be a dormant volcano and could erupt at any moment." I gulped as I continue to watch the fiery mountain, seeing a faint cloud of smoke seeping out of the crater.
"I know it's extremely dangerous to venture near a volcano that could possibly still be active, but we have to do this. The Katana is what we need to save our world," AntVenom explained to me. I nodded in response, understanding the importance of traveling towards a volcano.
Looking around, I saw that my friends were looking towards the volcaoas well. The one that I thought looked the worst when he saw the volcano was Alix, who seemed to go queezy at the sight of the mass. The others just looked extremely worried. As I looked t my friends, I saw that each of them wre right next to someone that they loved dearly. Jen was next to Seto, who had his arm draped over her shoulder. Sierra was standing close to Jerome and Mitch, who seemed to be glaring at each other for some reason. Ian was standing next to April, who was still scarred from almost being eaten by the Flytrap Monster yesterday. Quentin was standing next to Vengelfe, who apparently was his girlfriend before she mysteriously disappeared two years earlier. Bodil was next to Pixel, and everyone else was next to their friend. I sighed as I looked upon them. How many of them would make it to the end of this journey?
After everyone had gathered up their materials, we began our journey towards the Emerald Volcano. With each step that we took, the air around us started to become very hot and uncomfortable. The ground beneath our feet slowly became cobblestone with a mix of netherrack and obsidian. The terrain also changed as well, becoming bumpy and unstable. We climbed over rocks that seemed hot at the touch and only got hotter by the second. I glanced up and saw the volcano, only a few miles away from us. Lava streams seemed to leak out of the crater and run down the sides of the volcano, cooling off soon afterwards.
Then, out of nowhere, the ground started to shake violently. We began to panic, moving our feet around and looking around wildly to see if something would happen. After a few seconds, the shaking started to subside. Everyone seemed startled, but overall are fine.
"Was that an earthquake?" Adam questioned, running up besides me and gazing at the volcano.
AntVenom answered, "Most likely. The volcano looks like it may be ready to erupt. If we hurry now, we may be able to get the katana and escape." But just as we started to get going, over the horizon, I spotted a Zombie Pigman... and his kind... and his army.
"Guys?" I uttered out, taking a step back. Everyone glanced at the horizon and gasped, never seeing so many Zombie Pigmen in one place. One of the mobs walked out and grunts loudly, holding its sword in the air. The others grunt in response and dash down the rocky slope towards us. Immediately, Adam, Bashur, Ian, and Mitch wield out their powerful weapons.
"Everyone, get back! We'll take care of them!" Adam shouted at us. We all backed away to a safe distance. The four men charged towards the Nether mobs, slicing through them using their weapons. Adam, with the Rugged Rapier, stabbed into a Zombie Pigman's body, killing it instantly. Mitch, with the Devious Dagger, drives the dagger into the heads of the mobs while the hilt of the weapon seemed to be attached to his arm. Bashur, with the Poisonous Sword, stabs the weapon into the ground, causing waves of poison to flow out of the ground and tear through the flesh of the Pigmen. And Ian, with the Jack-knife Sabers, held out the sabers and spun in a circle, killing a wave of the mobs that had surrounded him.
But just as I thought we would be safe, I heard Bodil cry out, "Ghast!"
We quickly gazed into the sky and saw a Ghast floating right towards us, extending its tentacles out. It seem to be aiming for Sierra.
"Sierra!" I called out. I rushed towards her and pushed her out of the way. She looked in horror as the Ghast wrapped its tentacles around me and started to carry me away. I struggled to free myself from its grasp, but I was no match for the tentacles. I look down and cried out at my boyfriend, "Adam!"
He killed one last Zombie Pigman and glanced at me, gasping in shock when he saw the Ghast. He started chasing after me, but the Ghast turned and shrilled as it shot a fireball at him. With quick reflexes, he jumped out of the way as the fireball struck the ground, causing a few blocks to fly into the air or be destroyed. I could only watch as the Ghast flew towards the volcano, but at that moment, I knew what it was planning to do with me. I lost all hope of living at that moment.
Sky's POV-
I watched in helplessness as I saw my girlfriend being carried away by the Ghast. The others caught up and helped me to my feet.
"What happened?" I asked everyone, worry pinching my voice as I looked between my friends.
Bodil ran up to me and quickly said, "There was a Ghast. It tried to grab Sierra, but Dawn pushed her out of the way and got caught instead."
"She risked her life to save me... and now, she's gonna die and it's all my fault!" Sierra cried out, tears glimmering in her eyes. I ran up to her and pulled her body towards me in a comforting hug.
"No, no. It's not your fault, Sierra. She cared about you and just wanted you to be safe," I told her, pulling her slightly away and wiping away her tears.
Once she calmed down, Sierra asked me, "What are we gonna do?"
"We'll chase after the Ghast. By the time it gets to the volcano, we'll be there first," I told her in determination. I sheathed the rapier away and ran towards the volcano. Everyone followed me through the rocky terrain, getting closer to the volcano. I didn't care at that moment that it may erupt. All I wanted was Dawn to be safe and with us again.
We navigated over rocky slopes, avoided lava pools, and jumped over deep gorges. We got closer to the volcano, only a few blocks away from the slope. I glanced up and watched as the Ghast that had Dawn glide closer to the crater of the volcano. I looked ahead, but there wasn't a crevice or an entrance for us to enter through.
"Dang it! How do we get inside the volcano?" I asked, turning around to the others. Suddenly, Bashur glared at something and screamed wildly out loud as he ran towards the volcano. He literally crashes through the tough rock, leaving an hole of his flailing body in the rock wall. I entered through the hole as the melon fell over in exhaustion on top of a rocky cliff.
"Dude, what was that for?" I asked him in slight shock.
"It was to get inside the volcano," He weakly replied.
"Well... thanks?" I said unsurely. I looked below myself and cringed in fear. A large lava pool was only a short distance away from where we stood. Bashur walked to the edge, gasped, and backed away from the edge, joining the others outside of the volcano. I gazed to the center and gaped. Wedged between two rocks near a cliff at the center of the volcano was the Death Blade Katana. Its blade glowed a fiery aura and its hilt was glowing a reddish color. Surrounding the hilt was a string of black vine designs, although they seemed to flow with the lava that was just below it.
"Adam!" I heard a voice cry out above me. I looked up and saw the Ghast floating over the crater, unraveling its tentacles that held Dawn.
I panicked and quickly, I leapt from edge to edge to reach the cliff that held the weapon. I heard screaming coming from her. I gazed up as Dawn fell into the crater and near the edge with the weapon. I darted across the edge and lunged forward, extending my arms out to catch her form in my arms. We tumbled across the hard rock, but we came out unhurt. I held Dawn in my grasp for a moment, and then I pulled her away to look her in the eyes, her emerald and sapphire eyes reflecting the light of the lava beneath us which made her irises light up.
"Are you okay?" I asked her, brushing a strand of lose hair from in front of her eyes.
"I'm fine, thanks to you, Adam," Dawn breathlessly replied. I smiled, and then we both leaned towards each other and kissed. But it was abruptly cut-off when we heard a shrill. We gazed towards the opening of the volcano as the Ghast floated in and geared up another fireball to fire at us. Suddenly, a large, thin strand of lava and molten rock shot up in front of us and went after the Ghast. The Ghast let out a pained screech before it disappeared in the strand of lava. Slowly, it came down towards us, but it became clear that this wasn't just lava.
This thing turned out to be a creature. It had a snake-like head, blood-red eyes, and a pair of long fangs made up of rock. Its slender body was made up of lava while its exterior body was covered in rocks. It opened its mouth, letting out a painfully screech.
"The Magma Serpent..." I whispered to myself, recognizing this unbelievable monstrosity. I had only heard stories of this creature, because it was extremely rare to see this creature. I already knew we were screwed.
Quickly, I hauled Dawn to her feet and pulled her along with me to get away. The serpent hissed as it started to slither along the sides of the volcano, pursuing Dawn and I. We got blocked when the serpent got in our way. It opens its jaws, getting ready to strike. Dawn and I backed away, knowing that there was no possible way to defeat this thing without getting burned alive.
"Dawn... if we're gonna die here, I want you to know that no matter what happens or any conflicts that we had in the past, I'll always love you," I said to her, holding her tightly against my body. Dawn smiled at me as tears approached into her gleaming eyes.
"I'll love you, too, Adam Fisher... but... the world needs you alive," Dawn replied, letting a tear spill out of her emerald eye.
"What!?" I exclaimed. The serpent lunged at us. Dawn closed her eyes... as she pushed me out of the way. I landed hard on my back on another rocky edge and watched in horror as the snake destroyed the long cliff with its head, bringing Dawn and the katana down and towards the lava. She screamed as she plummeted for the lava, where the lava waited to devour her whole.
"DAWN!" I cried out, leaning over the edge. I saw Dawn make a grab for the Death Blade Katana and held the weapon close to her body. The weapon lit up brightly as it disappeared into the lava along with Dawn.
The volcano started to shake violently afterwards, the lava began to rise in levels. Out of anguish and fear, I took off and ran out of the erupting volcano. I dashed through the entrance that Bashur made, where everyone was waiting outside.
"Adam, what happened?" ButterSolace quickly asked.
"There's no time to explain! We gotta get out of here!" I cried out, tears spilling down my cheeks. I quickly ran out of there, everyone else following me soon after. Not a moment later, the volcano exploded. Large rocks were rocketed out of the crater and flew across the sky. Blobs of lava flew into the air as well, scattering across the ground we ran across. While running, I looked back and watch the volcano let out giant streams of lava from the crater, smoke pouring into the air in thick clouds. But through all that chaos, all I could think about was... Dawn. She risked her own life to save me and now... she's gone.
After running for more than 10 mintues, we came to a stop near the edge of the forest. Everyone was out of breath from the long run. I gazed out and watched the volcano from a distance. Mitch walked up to me and asked, "Dood... what happened?"
"She's... she's gone, Mitch. She's gone," I tearfully answered, falling to my knees. I pounded the ground with my fist in anger. I wished I could have done something back there, but it was too late. The damage had already been done. I felt Mitch rest his hand against my shoulder.
"Come on, Adam. It's not all that bad," He tried to explain, but his words only fueled my angry emotions. I glared at him, my eyes changing colors quickly.
"I just saw my girlfriend get burned alive by a serpent and you're telling me that it's not bad!?" I asked him in fury. Mitch backed away, seeing my eyes glow brightly through my shades. But immediately, my depressing emotions came to me and I felt my eyes change back to normal. I looked back to the volcano that we had just run away from. The erupting mountain seemed to slowly come to a halt and seemed to have calmed down. The lava streams still flowed down the slopes of the volcano.
"No... why couldn't you have saved her, Notch? Why did you have to take her away?", I sobbingly asked myself. Unable to keep in my emotions, I fell over and began to weep bitterly. All those times I spent with Dawn... all the years that we had gone through the challenges... and remembering that moment when I asked her to be my girlfriend and she agreed... it had all ended and there was nothing I could do for her. Not anymore. I had failed my promse to her parents when I took her away with me to go to CubeCity. She was dead... and nothing I could do would change that fact. I didn't even care at that moment that we had lost one of the weapons which would have ruined our chance in getting to Notch to save CubeCity. Dawn was gone... she was gone...
Sierra's POV-
Seeing my brother in tears was one of the hardest things for me to see. I couldn't help but feel that it was my fault that Dawn was dead. She pushed me out of the way to save my life, but if she wouldn't have done that, I would have been the one to go into the volcano instead of her. Adam would have been happy to have Dawn still... but sad that I was gone.
AntVenom walked up to Sky, and he put a gentle had on his shoulder. "Adam, there was nothing you could do. She made her decision to save both yours and Sierra's life. She's in a better place now instead of here on Minecraftia, where she will always watch over you no matter what you do," Ant said, trying to comfort Sky the best he could. But Sky just shook his head and more tears would pour out of his eyes instead. Everyone watched this happen in sadness and worry. Not a single sound was to be heard from my friends except for soft breathing and the occasional comment muttered to their neighbor. The only other sound heard was Sky's sobbing.
As Ant tried desperately to calm my brother, I sunk to the ground in misery. Even though the ground was hot and burning to the touch, I didn't care. My msery overcame my sense of touch. I had let Dawn take my place and had let her die horribly in the lava below. Guilt wracked my body asI watched Sky cry. He never cries. He didn't even cry when he got his stitches when he broke his jaw. That's how strong of a person he is. Seeing him in that position seemed to break my heart into millions of pieces.
Sighing, I then looked up to the sky. Everyone was paying attention to sky, leaving the others to be left alone. My eyes seemed to follow the clouds as they passed overhead, as the clouds were dispersing since the volcano erupted and Dawn took the object that powered it to her death. I wiped my tears away from my cheeks, and then I narrowed my eyes when I saw a strange thing decending from the sky. It appeared to be... a ball of orange light. Standing up, I then put my hand on my diamond sword that was at my side. All of a sudden, I was able to see what was in the ball of light.
"Guys, you might want to see this," I said, pointing towards the sky. Turning in place, I then ran forwards towards my brother, kneeling down to his level. "Sky, look up," I then said, pulling at my brother's elbow.
Adam looked up to me, his eyes behind his sunglasses red and swollen. The budder in hiseyes seemed to be dim and dull instead of shining and bright. I never saw that. Adam pushed himself up, and he grasped on to my arm as if he was injured. Everyone was looking up to the sky in shock, and I quickly lead my brother to the front of the crowd. Sky blinked several times when he saw the light, as if he didn't believe what he was seeing. The orange ball of light fell to the ground, its light so radiant that many of my friends (including me and Adam) had to cover their eyes from being blinded. The only ones that didn't have to look away were Ian and Bashur, as their specialized sunglasses didn't allow light to pass through to their eyes.
After a minute, the light subsided away, and we all looked back to the light. Every single person visibly froze in place, and I could feel my breath backed up in my throat.
"D-Dawn?" Sky croaked out, staring in disbelief towards the person that stood before us.
Dawn smiled towards us, although she looked different. Her hair was a darker shake of purple and pink, her eyes were the same, but her clothes were the big difference. She wore a black shirt with designed lava streams floating around her wrist and her arms, although they seemed to not be harming her or anyone else. Her pants became a beautiful orange/butter color, and her shoes still retained the red color they had before. The rainbow cuffs changed to be black, red, yellow and orange colors. She looked different, and in her right hand she grasped onto the Death Blade Katana, which seemed to connect to her like Mitch's weapon did to him.
"Hey, guys," Dawn said, then smiling towards us.
Nobody spoke for a good minute. Finally, Jerome cleared his throat, and then he said, "Dawn... how are you alive? You got burned in the lava!"
Rubbing the back of her neck, Dawn then said, "Well, believe it or not, the katana saved me. When I grabbed onto it, it made me immune to lava, and when I dropped in, I didn't die. However, since I was supposed to die, lava now is a part of my life. I changed to survive with the lava that now supports me life. This katana is full of lava, and if I don't have it, I cannot live for very long. But, nonetheless, I am back."
Sky began to tear up once more, and then he charged forwards towards his girlfriend. Dawn turned her attention on him, and she embraced him lovingly. After a long hug, they kissed gently, and then they pulled apart. "Dawn... I thought you were gone for good. I don't know what I would have done with my life if you had stayed dead..." Sky muttered, grasping onto her hand gently.
Smiling softly, Dawn then wiped away a tear on Adam's face. "Oh, Adam, I love you so very much," She said, then giving him another kiss.
"Are you guys done yet?" Bashur then asked, giving them a sly smile. We all laughed, and the two of them separated from one another. I smiled towards my brother, seeing that he was happy again. I loved seeing him like that... happy and not depressed.
AntVenom stepped forward, and then he said, "OK, guys, we have five down, five left to go. The last places we need to go to is the ocean, the ice spikes biome, the End, the Nether, and the desert. The next closest destinaton is... the MineOcean, which, sadly, is controlled by the Squids. If we don't get this weapon... well, we can kiss defeating the Squids goodbye."
